We visited Turning Pointe and Northwest Children s Outreach (two of our recipients); we choose to distribute our contributions to a total of nine organizations including sending some disaster relief monies. Most of the groups are faith-based and the majority of them assist those in our local community who are in need. We have already begun the process of determining which charities will receive our support for the 2018-19 year. We did and do this work with open hearts and minds and by following the teachings of Jesus to Love your neighbor as yourself. If you would like to join us in this important work, please let Eric or me know and you will be directly notified of any upcoming meeting. Until soon, God s Blessing Janet Wright Vice President/ Council Member Outreach To the NBLCC family: Please congratulate yourselves for your generous outpouring of donations to Palm/Cloak Sunday services. It was estimated that there were 75 to 100 garments that were gathered and then donated to LOVE, INC. of Mason County. This organization will make sure that the coats will be distributed to those in our county in need.

Discipleship Report Good morning all! Today was a sad day for me as my best friend lost her mother. She was also a good friend of mine, over the years we had dinners and holidays together. As she was recovering from the third brain tumor surgery, she would come to our house...just so she wasn t alone. She had been suffering this year, and I am sure that she isn t now. Some of the last hours I spent with her were reading the Bible. The strange thing is that last night, I kept waking up and hearing the music in my mind that we have been singing for Lent on Wednesday evenings Sometimes that happens to me. Not just last night, but other nights too. I wonder if God is trying to tell me something. Earlier this month, the same thing happened to me, only I woke up hearing a hymn about joy, and my devotional was about God wanting us to be joyful and sing songs of praise. I remember being surprised by that, the coincidence. We were having bible study that day and we sang a song about joy. I believe God wants us to have joy in our lives even in times of sadness. It may be hard for us to see and recognize it, but if you are looking, you can find it... May God bring you joy! It is always such a rich blessing to me each month to share the Scriptures with the women of North Bay, and I know all who can attend will also find it a blessing! Don t worry if you ve missed a lesson, or have never been, each lesson stands on its own and has so much to learn and share. Then there s LUNCH! A time of great food and fellowship, as always with our church. In Christ s Service, Leah Pederson NBL Women s Group Saturday Men s is studying 1 John. They meet Saturdays at 8 am. Recipe Corner Lentil Soup Hello everyone! I have found a recipe for soup that can be vegetarian or not. Since "the big guy" in our house is a meat eater, I added a smoked sausage to ours and it was good also. It makes a lot, I hope you enjoy it. Judy Clark LENTIL SOUP Prep: 30 min. Cook: 40 min. Yield: 8 servings 2 C sliced fresh carrots 2 celery ribs, chopped 1 large onion, chopped 1 garlic clove, minced 2 T butter 7 C reduced-sodium broth 1-1/2 C dried lentils, rinsed 3 T medium pearl barley 1-1/2 C chopped fresh tomatoes 2 T lemon juice 4-1/2 tsp. molasses 1 T red wine vinegar 1/2 tsp pepper Dash dried thyme, basil and oregano In a Dutch oven, saute carrots, celery, onion and garlic in butter until crisp-tender. Add broth, lentils and barley; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer 25-30 min. until lentils and barley are almost tender. Stir in the remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce the heat; cover and simmer for 15 minutes or until the lentils and barley are tender. I cut a one pound Kielbasa-like sausage into about rounds. I zapped them in the microwave for about a minute and drained off the grease. I added sausage the last 15 minutes of cooking. 1 cup of soup equals 219 calories (without the sausage) NBLCC Women s Spring Tea Save the Date! Women s Spring Tea Saturday, May 19 Plans are underway for our Women s Spring Tea. For more information, please see Sandi Fleury. Outreach Meeting Please join us for a meeting of the outreach committee on Friday, April 19. If you are interested, please contact Janet Wright. NBLCC History It is important to establish the history of North Bay Lutheran Church. In an attempt to follow the journey of our church s history, we are going to pick up where Julie Nehr left off. I am requesting that anyone who has pictures or articles to please forward them to me or place them in my box. I will attempt to get them in order regarding the time and event. Marv Rogers has agreed to then arrange them into a viewing book. Please provide names, dates and events on your picture or article. Eric Foss has also stated he would assist where needed. Thank You Jim Burton
