JOHN MCKEE MYERS, MARCH 24, 2010 Thinking of you and what you and your husband shared-the life you made, the joy of your time together, and the love that connected you. May all your memories help to ease your sorrow. ELOISE BOSS MCWATTERS, MARCH 18, 2010 I will always remember coming to visit my cousins Carnell, Jelly, Uncle John and Aunt Vera when I was a little girl. Carnell and Jelly were alwaays so sweet to me and their mom was an angel with kind words for everyone. She was one of the most caring people I have ever known. Now, Uncle John was a little different story...always trying to teach me how to be a country girl and gather eggs, milk a cow, pick cotton and lots of chores around the farm that I was not too interested in. He was always trying to make a farm gal out of me. Lots of good memories and lots of fun back in those days. Carnell was a great person and touched many lives. I was always proud to have such a wonderful and kind cousin as he was. May his memory be a blessing to all who knew him. God bless him and what a sweet reunion in Heaven that will be. GEORGIA CAROL HUDSON ST.CLAIR, MARCH 18, 2010 Mr. Griffitt will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and Prayer goes out to his family and friends. JOHNNY AND CYNTHIA GORDEN, MARCH 17, 2010 Dearest James Griffith, Our deepest sympathy for the passing of your brother. Sorry that Mike and I have not been able to respond to your e-mail until now. Jody Lindsey MIKE & JODY LINDSEY, MARCH 17, 2010 My deepest sympathy to Mrs. Griffitt and the family. Griff was a special man and this world was a better place because of him and his sweet Lucy. I can never think of my high school years without thinking of him. What a fun loving
and patient man he was to have driven bus loads of LHS graduates on their senior trips to Colorado. He told me in later years that our class of '56 was a handful!! Griff, watch over those of us who have gone before and we'll all be together again one day. What a day that will be!! With much love and appreciation, Sandra Carter Mintz SANDRA CARTER MINTZ, MARCH 16, 2010 We were the children of the Vietnam War, and we rarely left the Salerno Beachhead during Griff's class from '70 to '74. He "advised" us "AG-Boys" during his final months. I learned that if I did not visit, he would call me, and what an honor it was for the phone to ring, and it was Griff. He even wrote a "plan" for me and my cow/hay operation. Visited him at Kosper twice. I awakened him the first time and we had a wonderful visit. Second time, he was in wheel chair in hall. Very alert, another wonderful visit. One of the greatest "role models" I have ever known. We can only hope that men and women today will answer the call to devote their lives to their country, state, community, church, family, and most of all, students. The world is a better place because of W.C. and Lucy Ann Griffitt. Steve Coker LHS '74 STEVE COKER, MARCH 16, 2010 Bettye and family, My prayers and sympathy are with you during this time. Remember he is in a better place. CHERRY JONES, MARCH 15, 2010 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain. (Rev 21:4) We are sad, but the angels are rejoicing in heaven as they welcome Griff home. We'll see him again, someday. JOANN (COUSIN JOEY) BRITTAIN, MARCH 15, 2010 Lucy Ann, Our prayers are with your family. I knew the Griffitt family through Bailey Church of Christ and the 3 boys through Bailey School from about 1938. We were honored to attend your 50th anniv. celebration. Carnell found a jewel of rare price in you! Windle and Grace Ann Sacramento, California WINDLE & GRACE ANN JACKSON, MARCH 15, 2010
Knowing Griff for such a short time... Truly he is unforgetable. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Much Love JACKE SMITH, MARCH 15, 2010 Griff has always been a beloved part of our community. I was fortunate be an FFA member and student of Griff's. This man loved what he did and cared about his students. It always meant so much to me that Griff never forgot his students. Patsy Moss & I were his office aides in 1974-75 and he could always remember that! Mrs. Griffitt, thanks for sharing him with all of us, his former students. He was one-of-a-kind, while an educator and since then. He will always have a special place in my heart, as well as in the hearts of all his former students. We love you and will miss Griff so much. BETSY DAVIS, MARCH 15, 2010 Sorry to hear of your loss, but great to know that "We do not weep as those who have no hope" Sincerely, Tom Wishard TOM WISHARD, MARCH 15, 2010 I remember Griff as my Bible School teacher as a young teenager. He was a very good friend. He was my number one fan besides my parents as a basketball player at Leonard High School. He always boosted my spirits and encouraged me. I never had a middle name or a nickname until Griff gave me one. He always called me "Hook-Um". That was my favorite basketball shot. I loved Griff. I want all of you to know that you are all in my prayers, but Griff is back to his old self now and in a much better place. He will be missed. So sorry I cannot be there for his service. My love, Carole "Hook-Um"
