Gathering God calls us together to offer praise, acknowledge sin, and celebrate our adoption as forgiven children. Prelude Simple Gifts arr. Tiffaney Hsia Choral Introit Alleluia. Vidimus stellam eius in Oriente, et venimus cum muneribus adorare Dominum. Alleluia. We have seen his star in the East, and we have come with our gifts to worship the Lord. Gregorian Chant Matthew 2:2 Call to Worship At the sign you may stand. Bold text is read or sung in unison. O come, let us worship the Lord and consider wondrous things God has done: The Magi who study the heavens follow a guiding star! O come, let us worship the Lord and consider wondrous things God has done: The peoples who live in the land of deep darkness, on them the light has shined! O come, let us worship the Lord and consider wondrous things God has done: In his time righteousness will flourish; there shall be abundance of peace till the moon shall be no more. O come, let us worship the Lord, for God has done wondrous things. Opening Hymn Angels from the Realms of Glory Hymn 143 Verses 1, 2, 3 Hymn indicates the red pew hymnal Glory to God. Prayer of Confession 1 God of glory, you sent Jesus among us as the light of the world, to reveal your love for all people. We confess that our sin and pride hide the brightness of your light.

We turn away from the poor; we ignore cries for justice; we do not strive for peace. In your mercy, cleanse us of our sin, and baptize us once again with your Spirit, that, forgiven and renewed, we may show forth your glory, shining in the face of Jesus Christ. Amen. Assurance of Forgiveness Friends in Christ, hear and believe the good news of the Gospel. In Jesus Christ we are forgiven. Thanks be to God. Response of Praise Angels from the Realms of Glory Hymn 143 Verse 4 All creation, join in praising God the Father, Spirit, Son, evermore your voices raising: to th eternal Three in One: come and worship, come and worship, worship Christ, the newborn king! Words of Welcome Proclaiming the Word We encounter the Word in speech and song as we interpret and expound scripture. Time with Children 9:15 Children may leave for Church School classes. Teachers and ushers can assist in finding classrooms. 11:00 Children pre-kindergarten or age four to grade three may leave for Worship Explorers in Room 302. Prayer for Illumination Illumine our hearts, O God, with the radiance of the Word made flesh, that our lives may show forth his love in this weary world. Through Christ, with Christ, in Christ, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor are yours, almighty God, now and forever. Amen. 2

First Scripture Lesson Psalm 72 pg 533 Anthem The Heart s Adoration Benedetto Marcello, music Reginald Heber, text Say, shall we yield him, in costly devotion, gems from the mountain and pearls of the ocean, myrrh from the forest or gold from the mine? Richer by far is the heart s adoration, dearer to God are the prayers of the poor. Second Scripture Lesson Matthew 2:1-12 pg 2 Sermon Los Tres Reyes: Did We Miss a Holiday? Eric Barreto Thanksgiving We respond by presenting our offerings, setting the table, lifting prayers, and praising the triune God. Sermon Hymn We Three Kings of Orient Are Hymn 151 Offertory The Infant King Basque carol, arr. David Willcocks Sabine Baring-Gould, text 3 Sing lullaby! Lullaby baby, now reclining: Sing lullaby! Hush, do not wake the Infant King. Angels are watching, stars are shining over the place where he is lying: Sing lullaby! Sing lullaby! Lullaby baby, now a-sleeping: Sing lullaby! Hush, do not wake the Infant King. Soon will come sorrow with the morning, soon will come bitter grief and weeping: Sing lullaby! Sing lullaby! Lullaby baby, now a-dozing: Sing lullaby! Hush, do not wake the Infant King. Soon comes the cross, the nails, the piercing, then in the grave at last reposing: Sing lullaby! Sing lullaby! Lullaby! Is the babe awaking? Sing lullaby! Hush, do not stir the Infant King. Dreaming of Easter, gladsome morning, conquering Death, its bondage breaking: Sing lullaby!

Sacrament of the Lord s Supper We invite all followers of Jesus Christ to the table. Pass the tray to your neighbor, who will hold it for you as you receive the bread and grape juice. Cups on the bread tray hold gluten-free bread. Invitation Great Prayer of Thanksgiving The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them up to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give God thanks and praise. Therefore we join our voices with the communion of saints and the great cloud of witnesses and the whole creation to proclaim the glory of your name. Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory! Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. Therefore we proclaim the mystery of faith: Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again.
