Contact Erin Seddon 604.946.2618 eseddon@shsdelta.org Friday, November 11 th Remembrance Day is a day to pray for peace throughout the world and to pray for the men and women who so courageously gave their lives for our country as well as those who continue to protect us today. Today is also a day to consider what we are doing as individuals, as a community and as a nation to bring God s peace and love into the world. Above all we need to pray for peace, because peace is God s gift, and it lies with each of us to plead for it, embrace it, and build it every day with God s help. Pope Francis Parish office closed today., November 13th Confirmation Enrollment is celebrated at the 5pm Mass in the church. All children preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation, along with their parents, state their intentions through the Rite of Commitment to Formal Preparation for Sacramental Confirmation during Mass. The congregation then joins in renewing our baptismal vows through the Profession of Faith. This is an important component of the Confirmation Sacramental preparation. For more information, please contact: Erin Seddon 946.2618 or eseddon@shsdelta.org Among the Sacraments, certainly Reconciliation renders present with particular efficacy the merciful face of God: it is constantly and ceaselessly made real and manifest. Let us not forget, both as penitent and confessors: there is no sin that God cannot forgive! - Pope Francis

The verses of this ancient hymn are known as the O Antiphons. Each verse is a poetic translation of an O Antiphon, so named because each verse begins with O. Drawn from the Old Testament, the O Antiphons are seven Messianic titles for Christ and are sung for the Magnificat during evening prayer from Dec. 17-23. Explore this rich tradition in our Catholic Liturgy and rediscover the joy of Advent with Margaret Barry. She has a Bachelor of Music Degree and a Master of Arts in Pastoral Liturgy and Music. Saturday, Dec. 10 at 10 a.m. at St. Mark's College, Vancouver. An intentional Filipino Ministry is now available! Filipino Catholics have made a great contribution to the Archdiocese of Vancouver over the past 30 years and we want to facilitate full integration of Filipino groups and individuals into the life of the Archdiocese. To learn more about the mandate of the RCAV Filipino Ministry, visit rcav.org/filipino- ministry (Vatican Radio) Pope Francis travelled to the Roman cemetery of Prima Porta, where he offered the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass for the liturgical commemoration of All Souls Day this past Wednesday. In his homily for the Mass, which he delivered off the cuff, the Holy Father reflected on the words of Job: I know that my Redeemer lives. The commemoration of the dead, he explained, fills us both with sorrow, a sense of sadness, and with hope. A cemetery is sad because it reminds us of our loved ones who have died, it reminds us of our future, death. But, he continued, in this sadness, we bring flowers as a sign of hope; even, I could say, of a festival but later, not now. This hope, Pope Francis said, can help us, because we too must make the same journey, from this life to the next. The hope in the Resurrection does not disappoint. In fact it is Jesus Himself who first took this journey; we walk along the path He has trod. With His Cross, Pope Francis said, Jesus has opened the gate of salvation, where we will contemplate God. Pope Francis called on the faithful to pray for forgotten souls, as well as Christians who have died for their faith and in the service of others over the past year. Praying for the departed is part of the tradition of the Church, Pope Francis said, especially through the Eucharistic Celebration, which is the best spiritual help we can give to their souls, especially those who are most abandoned. Prayer for the Poor Souls in Purgatory Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord. And let the perpetual light shine upon them. And may the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
