Children s Ministry Got Curriculum? (Christie Kessinger) The LOFT How to select curriculum and still be true to our roots. Participants are asked to come knowing what curriculum their church is currently using (if possible). Participants will also receive resources to assist them in curriculum evaluation and development. Church Bookkeeping You do not have to go it alone! (Ron Gines and Chiyo Palen) Room C107 This breakout continues the Gateway Conference s efforts to make the church treasurer s job easier. Ron and Chiyo (Conference Bookkeeper) will: Respond to Aplos questions and issues you have raised, using demonstrations where appropriate. Facilitate an open question and answer period that will allow sharing your experience and ideas. Develop a list of things that the conference can do to improve the church financial functions or ask Aplos to change in their software. Missions - Going Global (Gerry Coates) Room C103 Learn how your church can embrace missions through: Sending pioneer missionaries. Partnering with the international church. Presenter Bios Michael Forney Michael oversees the leadership development and multiplication initiatives for the Southern Michigan Conference. He founded Gravitational Leadership, a company devoted to coaching and training pastors and churches. Michael has been coaching pastors and consulting with churches for over 12 years regarding issues of turnaround, leadership, organizational development, and multiplication. Peter Wernett Rev. Wernett is Senior Vice President of MissionInsite and an ordained United Methodist minister with over 25 years of experience in assisting denominations and their churches with ministry development. He has served as a local church pastor, a member of the staff of the United Methodist General Board of Global Ministries and the pioneer of small group ministry and lay witness mission innovator in the U.S., Faith at Work. Kelly Soifer Kelly has been in vocational ministry since 1982, serving with Young Life as a Youth Pastor, and as a Religious Studies instructor at the high school and college levels. She has an MA in Theology from Fuller Seminary and has been with the Free Methodist Church since 2009. 3/5
Joel Gropp & Panel (Scott Wight and Steve Thompson) Joel is the Director of Worship Ministries at Greenville Free Methodist Church. He is responsible for directing all aspects of regular worship services and special programs, as well as leading worship and tech teams. Joel has been involved in various worship and tech ministries for the past 20 years. Suzanne Allison-Davis, J.D., M.B.A. Suzanne Allison-Davis currently serves at Greenville College as Vice President for University Relations and Chief Legal Officer. After graduating from Greenville College with Religion/Philosophy and History/Political Science degrees in 2000, Suzanne attended the University of Illinois for both her Masters in Business Administration and Juris Doctorate degrees. Before coming to Greenville College, Suzanne practiced business law and taught at Eastern Illinois University. Christie Kessinger Christie Kessinger has been the Director of Grade School Ministries at the Greenville Free Methodist Church for the last 11 years. She is also the Children's Ministry Director for Gateway Conference. Christie holds a Masters Degree in Education from Southern Illinois University- Edwardsville. 4/5
Ron Gines & Chiyo Palen Ron Gines is currently serving on the Board of Administration for Gateway Conference, as well as Emmanuel Free Methodist Church. He has started several businesses and non-profit organizations and has dealt with the varied bookkeeping issues for each of them. Ron also teaches a Small Business Management class for Missouri Baptist University at the Lewis & Clark campus in Godfrey, IL. Chiyo has her BBA in Human Resource Management with a minor in Accounting from McKendree University. She has 10 years of accounting experience working for local governmental entities in the Edwardsville/Glen Carbon area. Chiyo lives in Glen Carbon with her husband of 17 years and they have five children. They are members of the Emmanuel Free Methodist Church in Alton. Gerry Coates Gerry Coates is the Director of Global Church Advocacy for Free Methodist World Missions. He serves to advance the effectiveness of the FMWM by overseeing support for global missions. Gerry is married to Jan. Together they share a passion to bring wholeness to the world through the gospel of Jesus Christ. 5/5
