Bible Study will be at 6:30 PM in the Rectory on March 12th, 26th and April 9th. Pope ( Saint ) John Paul II called the Book of the Prophet Isaiah, the 5th Gospel because many scholars see within prophecies the life of Jesus, fore shadowed some 600 years before Jesus birth. Join Father Skip in exploring the suffering servant songs of Isaiah and let us see if Jesus is the one prophesied by Isaiah and promised by God. And see if his passion and death on the cross are the fulfillment of these ancient prophecies. Rite of Sending At OLPS, the Rite of Sending normally falls on the same day as the Rite of Election, it usually coincides with the first Sunday of Lent. Before the Rite of Sending, during a para-liturgy and in the presence of the RCIA spiritual director, the catechumens inscribe their names in the Book of Elect as a pledge of fidelity. At the Rite of Sending, the godparents will testify and the catechumens will affirm of their intention to join the Church. The Church then makes its "election" of these catechumens to receive the Sacraments of Initiation, and sends them off to see the Archbishop. Elects from OLPS RCIA Journey 64 At the Rite of Election, in the presence of Archbishop, the godparents will further testify the catechumens intention to join the Church and the catechumens will affirm their decision. The catechist coordinator then presents the Book of Elect followed by the catechumens to the Archbishop for blessings. Now the catechumens are called "the Elect' or "the illuminandi" meaning "those who will be enlightened". They now begin a Period of Purification and Enlightenment. This is the final, intense preparation for the reception of the Sacraments of Initiation. Over the next five Sundays of Lent, the elects will be presented with three moving.this period concludes with the celebration of the Sacraments of Initiation Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist at Easter Vigil. The RCIA is a spiritually moving process beneficial to the whole parish community. As we draw closer to the celebration of Easter, let us pray for these elects who will be entering our holy Catholic Church this Easter. The Archdiocesan Pilgrimage to the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, Washington DC Saturday, October 19, 2019 Father Michael Olivere, the Pastor of Saint Timothy Parish, will be the Pilgrimage Coordinator. Father Dennis Gill, the Director of the Office for Divine Worship, will coordinate the Liturgical celebrations for the Pilgrimage. At this point our plan is for the pilgrimage activities to begin at 11:00 AM and to end around 3:30 PM. The pilgrimage will include the traditional procession and crowning of Our Lady, the celebration of a Solemn Mass in the great upper church of the Basilica with Archbishop Chaput as principal celebrant, and the opportunity during the day for the Sacrament of Penance. A more detailed schedule will be published as our plans are completed. The only place you should put people down is on your prayer list.
