FINANCE Mosque Project PAGE 4 As we come to close the current fiscal year, it is with great happiness to inform the Jama at members that despite great sacrifices by its membership raising over eight hundred thousand dollars towards its mosque project, it has surpass its obligations in both Chanda wasiyyat and Chanda aam. It is with Grace and mercy of Almighty Allah that it has provided once again the opportunity to our members to raise its bar in elevating its spirit of sacrifice. May Allah reward all those participated and provide them abundantly and bless them. For Moosies, the instructions for non earning members is that a minimum of $250 has fixed as monthly income by Majlis Karpardaz, the governing body for wasiyyat affairs. Also we wanted to reach 50% mark of chanda paying members of our Jama at as mossises and that we still need to work to achieve our goal. We are close to achieve our goal of eight hundred thousand dollars before the closing. Lajna held two garage sales to raise funds along with funds raised at the Jalsa on sale of Methai and jewelry. It is hoped that all legalities should be covered by early July and we should be set to close. However the sale of Baitul Zafar was to bring funds that was to go towards the closing costs and so far we have no concrete offer. Kindly pray so that Allah help us in this matter and go for smooth closing. The Message From Your Dear Master to ALL of His People PAGE 5 The Promised Messiah(AS) addressed every person of his Jamaat and he says: Study the Quran with care and hold it very dear with a love, that you have not for anything else. As God has said to me: All types of good are continued in the Quran This is wholly true. Those people are to be pitied who prefer anything else to it. The fountain-head of all your prosperity and salvation is the Holy Quran. There is no religious need of your which is not filled by the Quran. On the day of Judgment, the Quran will confirm or deny your faith. There is no other book under heaven beside the Quran which can furnish you with salvation. God has been very Beneficent towards you that he has bestowed a book like the Holy Quran upon you. If the Quran had not been revealed the whole world would have been left like a dirty limp on flesh. The Holy Prophet saw said: The best among you is the one who learns the Quran and teaches it The Holy Prophet saw has also said about the blessing of the Holy Quran: Those who gather together in mosques for learning and reciting the Holy Quran and teach one another, tranquility descends upon them. The meaning of Allah encompasses them and Angels take them under their wings. Having known all these things still, we ignore and pay no attention towards the Holy Quran. We do not give any importance to the saying of the Holy Prophet saw. The Proof of this is fact in that whenever the Quran Class was held their was always poor attendance. That is how much interest and regard we have for the Holy Quran. Except for a few, no one bothers to attend the Quran class while the Promised Messiah has repeatedly informed us about the importance of the Holy Quran in his various writings We should be fearful of that situation about which the Holy Quran has drawn out attention that on the day of judgment the Holy Prophet saw would say: And the messenger will say. O my Lord; my people indeed treated this Quran as a discarded thing. My dear brothers and sisters, the Promised Messiah (as) has handed over the Holy Quran to his followers and our ancestors learned the Holy Quran with enthusiasm and propagated Ahmadiyyat all over the world. We should not be among them on the day of judgment to whom the Prophet of God has said with great sadness: O My Lord, my people indeed treated the Quran as a discarded thing. This is a small sentence which makes one saddened. The pain and agony is filled in this sentence. Upon reading this verse the heart trembles. Keeping this in mind, all brothers and sisters, boys and girls, who are able to learn, Qir-at and the meaning of the Holy Quran, should attend the Quran class every Friday, after the Maghrib Prayer. This class will commence on July 18 2008 Inshallah!. Get Knowledge by participating in this class and also the pleasure of Allah and his messengers. May Allah enable every one to join the Quran class. Ameen. UMRAH 2008 PAGE 7 On May 22nd, 2008, an unforgettable trip unfolded with the grace of Allah for me, my brother and my sister-in-law when we flew from JFK Airport to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah. We flew to Jeddah and then on to Madina. Mashallah, my trip for Umrah was wondrous and full of special moments I will cherish for a lifetime. I was very fortunate to be able to embark on such a journey at a young age and share the joys I experienced. Upon arriving in Madina, the brilliant sunshine and dry heat was a bit of a shock, but I was able to adjust after settling in and arming myself with sunscreen and a straw hat for protection against the relentless rays of the sun. In Madina we prayed at Masjid e-nabawi, where the Holy Prophet (saw) is buried, along with Hazrat Abu Bakr and Hazrat Umar. The architecture of the mosque itself was breathtaking, and the prayer halls were covered with small domes, etched in calligraphy of Quranic verses. Our time in Madina was mostly spent offering supplications inside this Masjid, or in the surrounding outdoor prayer area. We also shopped for dates, a delicacy and gastronomical delight of myriad variety in Saudi Arabia. In the space of the Masjid, we felt peace and comfort within, a sense of tranquility in being in the mosque of our beloved Holy Prophet (saw). We also visited Masjid-e-Quba, the first mosque built in Madina by the Holy Prophet, Masjid-e-Qiblatain where the Holy Prophet received the revelation from Allah to move the Qibla from Al-Aqsa in Jerusalem to the Kaaba in Makkah and the site of the battle of Uhud. Our next destination was Makkah in order to perform the Umrah. Before departing Madina, my brother donned the Ahram and we all made our intention to perform Umrah. We flew from Madina to Jeddah, from where our cab driver drove us from the airport in Jeddah to Makkah, a few hours away. I fell asleep during the car ride, and when I woke up, out of no where, Masjid al-haram appeared, which houses the Kaaba. We all were enthralled by the captivating beauty of the Masjid. The structure is built to hold about 300,000 worshippers, and can hold 2 million including the outer prayer area paved with marble. After resting from our journey in our hotel, we decided to explore within the Masjid and finally view the Kaaba, up close and personal. Once we entered, it was very packed. We offered Isha namaz and came closer to the Kaaba. Upon viewing the rectangular structure towards which I faced for each prayer of my life, and of which I had only seen pictures, I choked up and tears immediately streamed down my face; never had I felt such a humbling experience, standing in front of the house of God, merely a pilgrim, not fully understanding the meaning of my existence until this very moment. After Isha prayers at the Masjid al-haram, our minds and hearts were heavy with the anticipation of fulfilling our commitments to Allah as we began our Umrah. Once we became part of the large crowd already performing their Umrah, we recited verses in Arabic out loud and in our hearts, and requested Allah to hear our prayers. We completed seven tawaf (rounds)of the Kaaba and then offered two nawafil facing the Kaaba. I felt immense joy upon completion of the tawaf and nawafil, and then drank from the holy well of Zam Zam. As I looked around at my Muslim brothers and sisters, I felt a great sense of kinship with these people, from all parts of the world who were different from me, yet were very much similar in our love of Allah and our sharing of this experience. Brothers and sisters from all over Asia, Africa, and the Middle East surrounded me, and I truly felt part of an international community. Next we headed to run between the two hills of Safa and Marwa, just as Hazrat Hajira ran between the two hills searching for the water for her son Ismail. This experience was the most physically taxing of the Umrah, but very rewarding as well. Here I felt a great sense of pride that a mandatory pillar of my religion celebrates the unwaivering faith of one of the strong females in our history, Hazrat Hajira, exemplifying and poignantly signifying the strong role women have in Islam. Following the end of the running/walking between the hills, we customarily cut off some of our hair and passed on the scissors so that other pilgrims could use them as well. And here, our Umrah was complete, by the grace of Allah. Alhamdolillah! The next day was spent visiting various sites in Makkah, beginning with the cave of Hira, where the Angel Jibreel brought the Holy Prophet his first revelation from Allah. The cave is located high up in a mountain that we did not have the time to climb but viewed from beneath it. We then went to Mina, the tent city for Hajis, Muzdalifa where the devil is stoned during Haj and finally to Jabal-ar-Rahma in the plain of Arafat, where the Holy Prophet gave his last sermon. We flew back to New York on the 29th of May, 2008, having first experienced an incredibly humbling feeling and then an equally incredible spiritually uplifting one in the performance of the Umrah. All praise is for Allah the Merciful, the Beneficent. By: Sara Nayyar
