August 2017 Council 996 G r e e t i n g s f r o m t h e G r a n d K n i g h t S P E C I A L D A T E S O F I N T E R E S T : Bingo every Tuesday @ 7pm August 2nd-Bible Study and Business Mtg. August 16th-Social Mtg. August 18th-Family Night August 23rd-4th Degree Mtg.. Greetings Brothers- I hope the August heat is not getting the better of you! Our Fourth of July picnic, I think, was a success! We would have liked to have seen more members and families there to join in the fun, but I think those that attended had a good time. And a huge THANK YOU! to everyone who had a hand in the preparation and working of this event. I don't want to leave anyone out. The acres looked great! The food was great! The organization was great! Everything! WELL DONE GANG! THANK YOU!! We are all geared up to go to the Naturals Baseball Game on July 27! This should be a fun time and I hope to see many of you up there! Thanks to the Naturals for the invitation. We are hoping to see many of our Brothers from the outlying areas as well! Also on the 30th of July, the Fourth Degree is having a Corporate Communion at IC at the early Mass. We haven't had one of these in a long time and it's about time we have one. Thanks to Bill Dubois for bringing this up with the Fourth Degree. AND thank you to the Fourth Degree for inviting the First, Second, and Third along. We all know how hot the weather is and has been in this area of the country, and how difficult it is to maintain a nice lawn at our homes. Well, this is no different here at Columbus Acres! In fact we have more yard work here than most of us have to deal with at home. By a long shot! We have been talking about the fact that we need to start working on the property more. Both inside and out. Some of our equipment needs to be replaced in a very bad way! The Spahns have been doing a fantastic job with what they have to work with, but, what they have to work with isn't much any more. We have had the floors done and they look great, but now we have to go further. If anyone has ANY spare time, please ask Dicky or Jayne Ann if they could use some help. You know how hot it is for you at home Anyone that has any ties to the purchase of lawn care equipment - mowers, tractors, weed eaters and the like, PLEASE let us know. It looks like we may be in need of these soon! In my first letter as Grand Knight, I did ask if anyone had any ideas to please let me hear them. I have heard several ideas come my way already-- Please feel free to let me know if you have an idea that you think will help us in what ever way- THANK YOU!! Please pray for our combat vets!
