Easy to do the same with our faith. It's tempting to stay where we got in at and never move.

When his mother asked him what had happened, he responded, "I don't know. I guess I stayed too close to where I got in." Easy to do the same with our faith. It's tempting to stay where we got in at and never move. Pick a time in the past. A year or two ago. Now ask yourself a few questions. How does your prayer life today compare with then? How about your giving? Have both the joy and the amount increased? What about your church loyalty? Can you tell where you have grown? And Bible study? Are you learning to learn? There they are. Four habits worth having. Isn't it good to know that some habits are very good for you? Make them a part of your day and grow. Don't make the mistake of the little boy. Don't stay too close to where yo got in. It's risky resting on the edge. Lyle Shiffert Assistant Spiritual Director HELP We are again working on updating our NWO Emmaus database. Many have moved, passed away, changed their email addresses. If you know someone s location, please pass it on to Kathy Mohler, mohler1464@roadrunner.com, or Gwynn Drown, momdrown24@aol.com. This also helps us update the Constant Contact listing and the Web site.

The Board is looking for individuals interested in running for positions on the 2014 NWO Emmaus Board. This takes at least 5 people to replace those going off each year. HELP we still need at least one person to run!!!!!!!! If you are interested, contact Roger Goebel at rgoebel@saudermfg.com or any Board member with an email expressing your interest. You do not run for a specific position, those are chosen at a Board Meeting in December.

The Joyful Noise June 2013 Page 3 Candidates for Election 2013: Linda Heffner, NWO WW #66 I attended the Women's Walk 66 at Epworth in 2009. I thought I was being taken off to join a cult because of all the secrecy <smile>. What I found was a reinforcement that God loves ME. I found being connected to Emmaus gave me a loving, caring family/community of people who are always there for me. People with the same values and beliefs as I have. I have served in many positions including sponsor, assistant table leader, table leader, and silent servant on many walks. I have found that each time I served in any capacity, it renewed the excitement and knowledge that I got from my very first walk. JoAnn Cousino, NWO WW #50 What the walk to Emmaus has meant to me, It was amazing to see how much people who didn t even know me, would take time out of their lives to show me God s love. I am a doer and love to do for other, it was hard for me to sit back and let others do everything for me that weekend and allow me to just sit and enjoy God s love all around and seen through so many people. Since my walk I have had the honor and privilege to serve on teams and serve the pilgrims in the conference room and behind the scene. It is the joy to serve and help others see God s love for them and that he loves them no matter where they are in their lives. The candlelights are still amazing to me each time I go, to see the faces of the pilgrims and the teams members as you hug them and tell them that Jesus loves them. My pray is to keep the walks going so others can always be able to see God s love through the Emmaus Walk. Mindy Leppala NWO WW#72 I love love love Emmaus! I love what the weekend means and what the community stands for. I have grown so much because of my involvement with the Emmaus community. Serving on the weekends whether it's in the kitchen or on a team is like a shot in the arm full of God's love that fills me up until the next Emmaus weekend. I serve because I believe what the goal is for Emmaus. It has changed my life and I want to help change the lives of others. I want to have the experience God's love and show them that they are loved. Dan Gardner NWO MW #59 Bio unavailable at this date Jackie Boyd AGAPE Remember back to your initial Emmaus Walk, and think about how much all of the many kinds of agape that you received meant to you. I still have my personal letters and many of the pieces of agape that were lovingly prepared for me. When you consider how to serve on future Emmaus Walks, think about providing some agape for the pilgrims and the team. As you read Scripture, Christian publications, forwarded emails, and what I call feel good articles, copy or jot down meaningful words, verses, paragraphs, or stories that speak to you and touch your heart. If the words touch you, they very well may touch someone else as well. It may be God speaking to you and encouraging you to share the writings with others, especially pilgrims who are beginning their journeys with Christ as a daily companion. We all need spiritual encouragement every day. Whether or not you know a pilgrim or team member on an Emmaus Walk, make copies of what has encouraged you to be shared with all those attending the Emmaus weekend. We never know what will turn out to be just the right thing for someone else. Let God work through you by being His voice to help strengthen others in their 4th days, and you will be blessed to be a blessing. De Colores!

Schweitzer was a world famous organist and Bach scholar, then New testament scholar as well as author, when he was convicted by Matthew 25. He left his old life behind to go to medical school at mid-life and then started a medical clinic in an unknown village in Africa. A medical clinic for The least of these and that is where he stayed until his death. No, I am not saying to quit your job and go to medical school or even go to Africa, but what I am suggesting is there are plenty of opportunities to be Christ like in our own little part of the world, country, state, city, church, Emmaus community as well as our homes. One way is serving on an Emmaus weekend, in the kitchen, agape room, shower angel or even on the team as a log or in the conference room. If one of those seems like an unknown African village to you but you still want to get involved- let me know I can hook you up in just the right place where you can help make a difference. My contact info is on our website. Decolores and blessings! Kathy Mohler Leadership Chaiperson
