SPECIAL MEETING of the Adams County School District 14 Board of Education was called to order Tuesday, September 12, 2017 pursuant to notice by Mr. Rolla, President, at 5:32 p.m. MOTION was made by Mr. Archuleta, seconded by Mrs. Quintana to go into executive session under C.R.S. 24-6-402(4)(b)-Legal Advice; Board to conference with an attorney for the purpose of receiving legal advice on specific matters. Executive session commenced at approximately 5:32 p.m. with Board of Education Members Archuleta, Dreiling, Quintana, Rolla, Thomas, Superintendent Abrego, COO Thompson, and Attorney Craig Nuss present. Mr. Nuss exited executive session at approximately 6:05 p.m. The Board discussed and received legal advice on specific matters from Attorney Nuss. At approximately 6:05 p.m., Attorney Kim Hult was on the phone with the Board members, Superintendent and COO. Mrs. Hult and Mr. Thompson and were excused from the executive session at approximately 6:25 p.m. The Board discussed and received legal advice on specific matters from Attorney Hult. MOTION was made by Mr. Dreiling, seconded by Mr. Thomas to amend the agenda to add a business item under Other Item 3.13; approval to contract with supplemental health care services for the professional service of a fully licensed occupational therapist. MOTION was made by Mr. Archuleta, seconded by Mr. Dreiling Thomas to approve the agenda as amended.

Audience Comments Nicole Harmon Issue: Lunch & Recess Ms. Harmon expressed that there is a need for adequate time to eat lunch and not enough recess. Adams City High School Student Council Issue: Homecoming Invite Members of the Adams City High School Student Council informed and invited the Board of Education to all of the Homecoming festivities during the week of September 18. Responses to Prior Audience Comments President Rolla Superintendent Abrego provided a response to the concerns addressed to the Board of Education during audience comments at the August 22 meeting. Superintendent s Report Federal Programs Overview Presentation Director of Federal Programs Shelagh Burke and Manager of Family & Community Engagement Jesse Martinez provided an annual report on district engagement, academic partnership, family empowerment, and staff development. Communications President Rolla The Adams 14 Board of Education will have two open seats this November. Elections will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 and we have four candidates running that you will see on the ballot: Connie Quintana, Joseph Dreiling, Brian Josef Reichel, and Bill Hyde. It was consensus of the Board of Education to give the left over ice cream from the 56th Annual South Adams County Fire Department Spaghetti Dinner at the homecoming BBQ sponsored by ROTC. MOTION was made by Mr. Archuleta, seconded by Mrs. Quintana to adjourn. The Board adjourned the regular meeting at 7:45 p.m. The next regular meeting of the Board of Education will be Tuesday, September 26, 2017. The Board will convene in the Board of Education room located at 5291 East 60th Avenue.
