P R E S B Y T E R I A N ( P C A ). M U R F R E E S B O R O September 23, 2018 Honor God. Welcome All. Embody Christ s Reign. A Congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA)

Order for the Worship of God September 23, 2018 Eighteenth Sunday after Pentecost To all who are spiritually weary and seek rest; to all who mourn and long for comfort; to all who struggle and desire victory; to all who sin and need a Savior; to all who are strangers and want fellowship; to all who hunger and thirst after righteousness; and to all who will come, this church opens wide her doors and offers a welcome in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Prelude Welcome Musical Meditation Entering God s Presence *Call to Worship Rev. Brandon Eggar Bless the LORD, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Bless the LORD, O my soul and forget not all his benefits. Who forgives all our iniquity, who heals all our diseases, who redeems our life from the pit, who crowns us with steadfast love and mercy, and who satisfies us with good so that our youth is renewed like the eagle s. Psalm 103:1-5 *Prayer of Adoration *Hymn of Adoration O Worship the King *Song of Response Kyrie Eleison Confession of Sin Rev. Monty Hershberger Let us now confess our sins together: O Lord, we confess that transgression speaks deep in our hearts, so that we do not reverence you as our good Father and, in turn, we cease to act wisely and do good. Cleanse us of our foolishness and set us once again on your way that is good and right and beautiful. Amen. From Psalm 36:1-4 Silent Confession *Assurance of Pardon and Comfort For with you is the fountain of life; in your light do we see light. Psalm 36:9 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, new creation! The old has passed away, behold, the new has come! *Extending God s Welcome of Peace The peace of Christ be with you! And also with you! *Song of Renewal Wonderful Merciful Savior

Committing to God s Kingdom *Confession of Faith Christian, what do we confess about Jesus Christ? We confess that he who was in the form of God did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Amen! Philippians 2:5-11 Kingdom Reading Piet Grovė & Jackie Pasarilla Psalm 1 Reader: This is the Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God! Mark 9:30-37 Reader: This is the Glorious Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ! Glory be to you, Lord Christ! Prayer of Intercession (followed by a season of silent prayer) Common Prayer Let us now join our voices together praying: O God, you declare your almighty power chiefly in showing mercy and compassion: Grant us the fullness of your grace, that we, running to obtain your promises, may become partakers of your heavenly treasure; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. Kingdom Giving and Song of Meditation He Will Hold Me Fast *Doxology At this time, children ages four to seven may dismiss through the center doors for Worship Training. After the sermon, children will return through the same doors so they can rejoin their families for the remainder of worship.

Listening to God s Word Paul s Prayer for the Philippians Philippians 1:3-11 Continuing our Current Series on Paul s Letter to the Philippians: Walking Worthy of the Gospel Rev. Brandon Eggar (See insert for Sermon Notes) Feasting at God s Table Holy Communion (see insert) Trinity Presbyterian Church welcomes all baptized Christians who are willing to forsake their sins and trust in Christ for salvation, and who are members in good standing of a congregation that proclaims the gospel, to receive Holy Communion with us. Baptized covenant children who have not made profession of faith before the elders should abstain from receiving communion until they are received as communing members by the session. TPC serves wine and grape juice for communion. The clear cups contain wine and the purple cups contain grape juice. Gluten free communion bread is in the glass dish in the serving basket. Going Out With God s Blessing *Song of Sending We Are God s People *The Sending Above all, put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. Colossians 3:14-15 Thanks be to God! *Benediction The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. 2 Corinthians 13:14 Amen! *Postlude Senior Rev. Feasting at God s Table Celebration of Communion The Great Thanksgiving The Lord be with you. And with your spirit. Lift up your hearts. We lift them up to the Lord.
