President s Report June 23, 2017 Greetings and God's peace from NBLCC Congregational Council President. The NBLCC Congregational Council held its regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday June 22, 2017. This was the Council s annual transition meeting and planning retreat, attended by all out-going and incoming council members. The Council welcomed its two newest members: Vi Nall and Janet Wright. We skipped lightly over all the routine reports, and spent most time familiarizing the new council members with process and procedures, electing officers, and re-assigning ministry team leadership. Your Fellowship Report As we begin another fiscal year and welcome new council members, I look forward to another year guiding our fellowship events. I would like to change things up a bit and get more people involved, especially in the planning. Several new ideas have been mentioned to me, so early in July there will be a sign up sheet in the narthex for a Fellowship Committee. president Marvin Frye and secretary John Lorenz have completed their 3 year terms, so this was their last council meeting. In accordance with the church constitution, we elected Jerry Pedersen president, Janet Wright vice president, and Judy Clark secretary. In addition, ministry team leadership was discussed, and re-assigned. Outreach ministry will transition from Jerry Pedersen to Janet Wright, and Evangelism ministry will transition from Judy Clark to Vi Nall. We are still expecting cost estimates from the Addition and Remodel Committee, which will be presented to the If you have a passion for a particular event whether Harvest Fest, North Bay on the Bay, the Anniversary dinner, etc or if you just want to help plan these events, please sign up and let's share together! Let's make this coming year a year to remember! Speaking of North Bay on the Bay, mark your calendars for August 20th. It's a western theme this year so get congregation in a future special congregational meeting. The Council will re-establish and energize a Long- Range Planning Committee to review all church programs, make sure or reconfirm we are headed in the right direction, and to plan for new programs if needed. O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth. Psalm 8:1 those hats, boots and spurs ready! I am kicking around several fun ideas so you won't want to miss this year. It is going to be a bit different and lots of fun! Cowboy Up! God's Blessings to all! Discipleship Report Hello everyone! A new month is about to be started, as usual I am saying, didn't we just start June? and how can it be, here it is almost July? Mikah came home from school yesterday and running up the stairs to find me said, Mom, I am a fifth grader now! I smiled and said, Yes, you are, as I remembered it seemed like only yesterday he was three. In a blink, it seems, time goes by... Do you remember the story of Martha and Mary and Jesus? I am a lot like Martha, but I do want to be like Mary...There is always something that needs, could or should be done... and someone has to do it, is it not a part of serving the Lord? Serving others? No matter what I do, the things that need to be done still need to get done. I am not complaining, I am trying to understand...do you have the answer for me? I will keep searching. Men's Bible study is still meeting on Saturday mornings at nine am. Tuesday bible study is on summer break. Kidz Church is also moving right along. We are gearing up for vacation bible school on August 3rd, 4th and 5th from nine am until noon all three days. It will be a lot of fun and learning. Anyone wishing to help or donate snacks would be appreciated. Please contact me for more information at 360-275-7808. Evangelism Report Hello! With the election of new council members, Vi Nall will be taking my place as the Evangelism leader. This means that she will be heading up the 'Dinners for Six' program. I will give her the information I have, and she will start on July 1st. Thanks to everyone! Judy Clark

Recipe Corner Are you tired of the same old hamburgers for 4th of July or those occasions when you want to have a burger? This recipe will hopefully provide you with that update you have been looking for. (And no the cheese is not really prevalent in flavor, but adds a creaminess that's really tasty.) This is a Better Homes and Garden recipe. Judy Clark Council Member Evangelism BLUE CHEESE BURGERS Prep: 15 minutes Broil: 12 minutes Makes 4 servings. Some popular-types of blue-veined cheese include Danablu, Gorgonzola, Roquefort, and Stilton...I purchased what I use at QFC in a plastic bowl that says Blue Cheese Crumbles. 1/4 C fine dry bread crumbs 2 T crumbled blue cheese or feta cheese (1/2 ounce) 2 T milk 2 tsp prepared mustard or Dijon-style mustard 2 tsp snipped fresh chives or 1/2 tsp dried chives, crushed 1/2 tsp salt 1/8 tsp pepper 1 lb. ground beef 4 hamburger buns, split and toasted 1 medium tomato, sliced 1. In a large mixing bowl, combine bread crumbs, blue cheese or feta, milk, mustard, chives, salt and pepper. Add meat. Mix well. Shape meat mixture into four 3/4 inch-thick patties. (I find it works well if you dent the center of each patty, as they fill in while cooking.) 2. Place patties on the unheated rack of a broiler pan. Broil 3 to 4 inches from the heat for 12-14 minutes or till no pink remains, turning once. Serve on buns topped with a tomato slice. Add your favorite toppings if desired, I sometimes eat this patty plain with a side salad. 396 calories, 18 g total fat (7 g sat. fat), 75 mg cholesterol, 713 mg sodium, 29 g carbohydrates, 1 g fiber, 28 g protein. (I have reheated a patty in the microwave, 2 minutes on power level 3...perfect.). After-Church Golf Kidz Church Come join us each Sunday at 1:00 pm for fellowship and a few rounds of golf. Photos from Neighborhood Neighborhood Beatitudes class Sue Nichols with very special guest Nita Isaac The Neighborhood Beatitudes class (led by Sue Nichols Tuesday afternoons at NBLCC) welcomed guest speaker Bill Barker, NW Community Representative of Children of the Nations, to join the class for a delicious brunch. After Mr. Barker s presentation describing the work of COTN, the class got busy preparing 50 Bible Smile Packs to be received by children needing God s Word in different parts of the world. The Smile Packs each contained a new Bible, composition book, bookmarkers, pens and highlighters to facilitate studying the Bible. Also included was a hand-written note to the recipient and $5 for transportation fees. Sue Nichols with Bill Barker, Children of the Nations NW NBS has drawn approximately 25 members representing different churches and areas within Mason and Kitsap Counties. NBS will resume late August after a summer break with Pastor Karle leading a special session. Visitors and new class members are always welcome! Neighborhood members assemble Bible Smile Packs
