Mother Irelia Young s Journey Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. Psalms 1:1-2 We come to celebrate the life of Irelia (McMillian) Young who was born on August 21, 1916 in Spartanburg, South Carolina to the late Willie and Laddie McMillian. On Sunday, December 4, 2011, God decided that she had fully served her purpose on earth and chose to transition her to his Kingdom. She went home to be with the Lord; peacefully while asleep at home in her bed. We can proudly say, without a doubt, that she was truly a good and devoted servant to God and a loving and giving friend to many who had the honor and privilege to know her. Her wisdom and presence has and will continue to be greatly missed. Mother Young was preceded in death by both her husbands, Albert Barnes and Willie Young. She was a loving and devoted Mother to Irma J. Homes (Barnes), Brenda G. Bryant (Barnes), and Roger A. Barnes. Mother Young worked and retired from the Rayburn House Office Building on disability many years ago. After retirement, she enjoyed being actively involved in church activities, taking care of her family and loved gardening. Also, she continued to be an immaculate housekeeper and awesome cook. Mother Young was a devoted and committed member of Faith Assembly of Christ where she served as a Senior Missionary for many years until health prevented her from doing so. As a soldier in the army of the Lord, Mother Young led many souls to Christ. When Mother Young was no longer able to attend church and subsequently became bed-ridden, she continued her missionary work by imparting Godly wisdom, knowledge, advice and love to those who were fortunate enough to encounter her. She cherished having visitors and enjoyed watching the church services on DVD s watching spiritual and inspirational programs on TV, listening to gospels on the radio and CD s, and being anointed with oil and read the 23rd Psalm at night before going to sleep. Her favorite songs include: It Is Well With My Soul, His Eye Is On The Sparrow, Jesus Loves Me, I ll Fly Away and other old-time gospel songs. To cherish Mother Young s memory are her children Irma Holmes (Earl), Brenda G. Bryant, and Roger Barnes (Jackie); two grandchildren (Nicole Holmes and Kenzie Wright) two great-grandchildren (Lil Kevin Arrington and Azia Mone Terry); siblings (Rachel King and Reverend Zane McMillian (Shirley); sister-in-law (Idella McMillian); first cousin (Ruby Williams); and, a host of other relatives, friends and neighbors who loved and cherished her. She was preceded in death by her grandson (Kevin A. Bryant) and great-grandson (Kevin Wright). Mother, we love you, but God loves you best. When you departed from your earthly body, you inherited eternity life. For to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. You will experience no more sickness, sadness, pain, disappointments, heartache, grief, or dependence on others to provide your most basic needs. Hallelujah! God welcomed you in His Kingdom and said job well done my good and faithful servant. We are grieving because we love and miss you Mother. Yet, we are rejoicing because we know your went home to be with the Lord; and know you are with Him in Heaven. You will always be in our hearts. We love you Mother and will continue to greatly miss your earthly presence. The Family
