We engage, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love; to strive for the advancement of this church in knowledge and holiness; to give it a place in our affections, prayers and services above every organization of human origin; to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline and doctrine; to contribute cheerfully and regularly, as God has prospered us, towards its expenses, for the support of a faithful and evangelical ministry among us, the relief of the poor and the spread of the Gospel throughout the world. In case of difference of opinion in the church, we will strive to avoid a contentious spirit, and if we cannot unanimously agree, we will cheerfully recognize the right of the majority to govern. We also engage to maintain family and secret devotion; to study diligently the word of God, to religiously educate our children; to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintance; to walk circumspectly in the world; to be kind and just to those in our employ, and faithful in the service we promise others; endeavoring in the purity of heart and good will towards all men to exemplify and commend our holy faith. We further engage to watch over, to pray for, to exhort and stir up each other unto every good word and work; to guard each other s reputation, not needlessly exposing the infirmities of others; to participate in each other s joys, and with tender sympathy bear one another s burdens and sorrows; to cultivate Christian courtesy; to be slow to give or take offense, but always ready for reconciliation, being mindful of the rules of the Saviour in the eighteenth chapter of Matthew, to secure it without delay; and through life, amid evil report, and good report, to seek to live to the glory of God, who hath called us out of darkness into his marvelous light. When we remove from this place, we engage as soon as possible to unite with some other church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God s word.

THE ABYWEST COMMUNITY CENTER IS COMING ALIVE! As we continue fundraising to meet our $12 million goal to complete AbyWest, we would like to share preliminary renderings of the Community Center s Reception Area and Fellowship Hall. We envision a space where members can gather and fellowship before and after worship services, and it would also function as a Hall for special occasions and events. We urge you to continue supporting this effort, and remain diligent and prayerful as we strive to reach our goal.

Jeremiah 31:2 Day 16 -March 16 - Scripture: Isaiah 58:6 - Is not this the fast that I choose: to loose the bonds of injustice, to undo the thongs of the yoke, and to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke? Prayer Starter: As we journey through the wilderness, lead us to a deeper faith that challenges injustice as we seek to build a better society for all. Day 17 - March 17- Scripture: Psalm 23:6 - Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Prayer Starter: Good shepherd, help us to trust you more than anything else, that we may know the joy and freedom of living in your perfect security. Day 18 - March 18 - Scripture: John 3:1-2 - Now there was a Pharisee names Nicodemus, a leader of the Jews. He came to Jesus by night and said to him, Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God Prayer Starter: In this wilderness moment, unsettle us. Unstick us from our familiar life, and transform us in your newness. Day 19 - March 19 - Scripture: I Kings 17:2 - You shall drink from the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there. Prayer Starter: Sustain us in the wilderness with the energy, courage, freedom, and authority that we may be your disciples of love and healing in the world. Amen. Day 20 - March 20 - Scripture: Isaiah 42:16 - I will turn the darkness before them into light, the rough place into level ground. Prayer Starter: In the midst of uncertainty and discomfort, teach us a song that reminds us of your faithfulness in seasons of change. Day 21 - March 21 - Scripture: Luke 24:35 - Then they told what had happened on the road, and how he had been made known to them in the breaking of bread. Prayer Starter: Dear Lord, meet us in the everydayness of our lives. Teach us to love as you love. Empower us to live the story of the Gospel. Day 22 - March 22 - Scripture: Isaiah 55:8 - For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways, says the Lord. Prayer Starter: Help us to embrace the changes that we see in our lives. Help us to leave our old ways so that we may be open to your plans for our future. Day 23 - March 23 - Scripture: Romans 10:9 - If you confess with your life that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Prayer Starter: God, you call us to a radical love. May we be on the way to loving others beyond our differences, as we prepare for your resurrection.

THE ABYSSINIAN BAPTIST CHURCH BOARD OF TRUSTEES SEMINAR How to maximize all your financial potential while placing tithing as a top priority! Sunday March 26, 2017 following the 9:00 AM worship service This seminar is designed to create alignment within the church and the biblical connection to tithing. Breakout sessions will focus on purposeful generosity and budget planning. Come prepared for a workshop on how to organize a personal budget facilitators Jana D. Handwerk, Financial Planner, Mass Mutual Cazembe Bektemba, CPA, Watson & Rice 7 Items for Creating a Solid Financial future for your family and Stewardship for the Church: Create a budget and expense report to assess where you are now. Automate your savings and gifting to the Church, before you spend; Give 10% for stewardship to the Church and put away at least 10% of your income in a retirement account or savings. Include a motivational item such as a dream apartment or a trip/experience with family. Limit entertainment overdose. (Commit to things that you can afford and have a passion for). No spending one day a month/week. Make a plan to walk to Church or make lunch for you and your partner. Skyping is free, and you can go online to find free events. Remember that less is more, look for alternatives! Let us show you ways to be more cost effective. Carry cash, reduce credit purchases, be aware that small items add up. Swiping plastic does not have the same realization as paying cash. Give! Paradoxically, being generous makes us feel abundant, and GOD rewards us by giving us more. The start of Spring brings new growth and financial possibilities, and we want you to take action by planting seeds of prosperity for yourself and the church. Money is a deeply personal subject and financial circumstances vary greatly from individual to individual as well as family to family. There are no one size fits all rules regarding money and financial planning.
