WEBC Newsletter Vol 11 Issue 11 January 2019 Plugged in in 2019 At the ripe young age of 52, I have discovered that every year comes with its own excitement and challenges. Over the years, I have seen some pretty exciting things take place, and I know many of you have as well. I have also been weighed down by some pretty stressful challenges (some more serious than others). Yet, as I look back, I can see how the Lord has carried me through, made provision when I could have never resolved a situation by myself, or simply empowered me through with the wisdom for a solution and the vision to employ the decisions necessary to endure. God is faithful, (1 Corinthians 1:9; 1 Corinthians 10:13; 2 Corinthians 1:18) and knowing that He has proven Himself over and again, allows me the freedom to live a worry-free life (Matthew 6:34) and place Him first in every aspect of my life (Matthew 6:33). Our Mission Is Reach the Lost Educate through God s Word Assist those in Need Love God and Others (ccontinue on next page)

I am not sure how you are feeling, but I am pumped! So much so that I rewrote this newsletter this morning after our 2018 family Christmas. Again, God provided! What a wonderful job by the Abnormals last night leading us in worship! Matthew did a wonderful job with the youth and nativity drama, we had great attendance, and not only did we light an Advent Candle led by Donald and Kathy Boswell, but we also enjoyed the presence of the Lord through candlelight and communion! I have to tell you, if you missed it, you missed a wonderful service. But don t worry about that either, you can catch it online, and mark your calendars for next year, because we are sure to make this a WEBC family tradition! That will only be one of the for WEBC in 2019. There are some other exciting things coming soon. In the middle of January, we will be meeting the candidate that is being considered for our Worship and Music Ministry! It looks like a new season of ministry may be coming. While Martha has done a wonderful job with the music program since my arrival, I can tell you I am excited to see what God has in store for us in this new leader, should His people confirm her call. Make sure you mark your calendars for January 9 th and the 13 th. You may not want to miss this opportunity to visit and meet the candidate! Other things are on the horizon. Currently I am working with some new families that have expressed a desire to join the church! We also have some additional baptism candidates that I will be scheduling soon! Life Groups are moving in the right direction, along with the rest of the ministries in the church. So, I guess if I could encourage you to do anything, it would be to get plugged in for 2019! Do not miss the opportunity to serve the Lord and contribute to the work of the church. God is faithful let us be faithful! At the Feet of Jesus, Pastor Jeff Dr. Jeffrey C. Chappell Senior Pastor Whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all for the glory of God (1 Corinthians 10:31).

January... Old is not always bad. New is not always good. The year 2018 bean with some bad water problems that brought about good, much appreciated assistance in getting those problems corrected. Your library is back in business. We continue to receive new books and DVD s and would love to see new visitors as well. If you have interests in particular subjects you don t see displayed, please let us know. This will be helpful in selecting new additions. Our prayer for 2019 is that all of us will feel God s peace and presence every day. Library Staff

MUSIC NEWS Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin. Mother Teresa The present moment is precious. Focus on what you can do today and then go from there. In our church world, that present moment is hugely important. We are not promised another day! We are children of the living God. In my Father s house, There s a place for me, I m a child of God, Yes I am! Being a child of God is the most magnificent gift we could ever have! It allows us to face each day with assurance and with the resolution that eternity awaits us because of the price Jesus chose to make just for us, His children! It s the song we sing! We are beyond blessed at WEBC to be surrounded with fellow Christians who love the Lord. Our goal is to share in song the messages sent from God! We love praising His name and we strive to bless our congregation! Please pray for our music program. Consider this New Year and the gift of song that you can share!! Focus on today and make Jesus Christ first and central in your life!!! For Him, Martha Lancaster Interim Music Director West Edgecombe Baptist Church Scholarship Apply NOW Members of WEBC, who are graduating from high school or early college in the spring of 2019 and plan to attend college, university, or community/technical college, are invited to apply for the West Edgecombe Baptist Church Scholarship. I would like to thank everyone for the Christmas cards and gifts that you gave to me this Christmas season. It is always amazing to me just how generous the people at WEBC can be. As always, I feel so blessed to be your secretary/bookkeeper. Again, thanks for all you do for me. Sophia Bridges A very special thank you for the goodie bag. It was a surprise and I enjoyed the visit from Doris. Your prayers are very much appreciated. Sincerely, Jo Ann Gay With gratitude and love our family can not express what prayers, text, cards, phone calls and Facebook message meant to us from WEBC family. Nicholas entered UNC on September 27 and left December 18. God hears every prayer, God answered on His perfect time. Christmas miracle, Nicholas still has Cystic Fibrosis but he can walk half mile with out coughing or stopping. No breathing treatment required. God is good all the time. With God all things are possible. Matthew 19:28. Happy New Year to you and your family. Tom and Martha Barnes Thanks to all of you for remembering us during the year but especially the Thanksgiving and Christmas season.
