Please remember him in your prayers.

Dear Friends, A Message From Our Pastor. No one likes to talk about death, although we know it is a reality for everyone. We are all going to die, yet we cling to life because it is what we know. Death is a mystery. For a Christian, death is a mystery of faith. If we do not believe that Jesus rose from the dead, then our Christian faith has no meaning. If we believe in the Resurrection and the possibility of eternal life, then the Sermon on the Mount makes sense. Otherwise, it is just a bunch of pious sayings from a man out of touch with reality. In what possible version of the universe do we proclaim blessed those who are poor or hungry or are weeping? It is only in Jesus version, which turns the world upside down. The problem for us is that while we profess our faith in Jesus, we still would rather not have the world turned upside down. We like this world predictable and normal where we are not poor, not hungry and never weep. But life isn t like that and facing the difficulties in life can either crush us or make us stronger. What will it be? If we only expect the best in life, we are bound to be disappointed. If we realize life has its ups and downs, we can become blasé and indifferent. But if we except the challenges of life as they come, then we, with our hope firmly set on Jesus Christ, can confront the evil that sometimes enters into our lives. It s up to us. That s why Jesus offers us these assurances. Yes, things will be difficult at times, but in the end all will be well. That can be a tough message to swallow. It is, as I said before, turning the world upside down. Jesus promises all will be well for those undergoing difficulties, but he doesn t say when. Time and justice are in His hands. Maybe that fulfillment won t happen in this life. That is why it is very important to be unafraid to look at the reality of death as the ultimate destiny for us all. It is there. It is waiting for us. And because of Jesus Christ, we need not be afraid. May God bless you all, Father Bob Bruso It's Mardi Gras Bunko!
