included continuing prayers for the Rev. Cn. Stefani Schatz, the climate change conference, and prayers for the environment. Election of 2017 Officers: The Rev. Chip Larrimore nominated Richard Patenaude for Chair, the Rev. Deborah Hawkins for Vice-chair, and the Rev. Kathy Trapani for Secretary of Executive Council for 2017. There were no other nominations. It was moved, seconded and approved that the slate as presented be elected. Finance Update and Housing Allowances (Tom Ferguson): Due to the date of the Executive Council meeting there was not a full finance report. Resolutions for housing allowances for diocesan staff were distributed to the EC by email and received into the minutes (see Appendix). It was moved, seconded and affirmed that the proposed housing allowances be approved as proposed. Capital Campaign Update (Davey Gerhard): The Executive Council received an update on the capital campaign from Davey Gerhard. It is hoped that the Bishop will brief or solicit seventy potential donors before Easter. Davey would like assistance from Executive Council and Standing Committee members who feel comfortable with or called to do solicitations of $25 thousand or under. Doug Roberts, Robert Middleton and the Rev. Chip Larrimore offered to help. Davey also reported that Christ the Lord, Pinole is doing a study, and St. Ambrose, Foster City is looking for rector housing. The team is continuing its work with other congregations on their study processes. Staffing Update (Davey Gerhard): There are now two finalists for the communications position, which the Bishop hopes to have filled very soon. The executive assistant position is down to four candidates, and it is hoped that the position will be filled before Christmas. Resumes for the formation director have been requested. The position will focus on faith formation for the whole Body of Christ, including vocational discernment. Convention 2017 Update (Bishop Marc): Convention 2017 will take place October 27-28, and will have women as its focus. The Rt. Rev. Barbara Harris will preach at the Friday Eucharist. Some business will be done on Friday afternoon, and a panel discussion will be a part of Convention. Chancellor's Report (Christopher Hayes): The Standing Committee joined the Executive Council meeting for a report from the Chancellor. The Council entered into executive session at 4:40 p.m., and the session was concluded at 5:19 p.m. Calendar: The Executive Council retreat is scheduled for Wednesday, January 25, 2017 dinner through Friday, January 27, 2017 lunch at the Bishop's Ranch. The next Executive Council meeting is scheduled for Friday, January 27 at the Bishop's Ranch. Marc Handley Andrus is employed as a minister of the Gospel by the Episcopal Diocese of California, which although providing a residence for him does not provide the full cost of maintaining and furnishing such a residence, Executive Council resolves that of the total annual compensation of approximately $175,378.69 to be paid to The Rt. Rev. Marc Handley Andrus during the year 2017, $10,000.00 is to be designated a housing allowance within the meaning of that term as used in Section 107 of the IRS Code of WHEREAS The Rev. Christopher Chase is employed as a minister of the Gospel by the Episcopal Diocese of California which does not provide a residence for him, Executive Council resolves that of the total annual compensation of $135,267.45 to be paid to the Reverend Christopher Chase during the year 2017, $62,000.00 is deemed housing WHEREAS The Venerable Margaret Dyer-Chamberlain is employed as a minister of the Gospel by the Episcopal Diocese of California which does not provide a residence for her, Executive Council resolves that of the total compensation of approximately $5,000.00 to be paid to The Venerable Margaret Dyer-Chamberlain during the year 2017, $5,000.00 is to be designated a housing allowance within the meaning of that term as used in Section 107 of the IRS Code of WHEREAS The Rev. Rebecca Edwards is employed as a minister of the Gospel by the Council resolves that of the total annual compensation of $123,240 to be paid to the Reverend Rebecca Edwards during the year 2017, $36,480.00 is deemed housing WHEREAS The Rev. Anna Lange-Soto is employed as a minister of the Gospel by the Council resolves that of the total annual compensation of $38,200, to be paid to The Rev. Stefani Schatz is employed as a minister of the Gospel by the Council resolves that of the total annual compensation of approximately $106,586.42 to be paid to The Rev. Stefani Schatz during the year 2017, $34,200.00 is to be designated a housing allowance within the meaning of that term as used in Section 107 of the IRS Code of The Executive Council further resolves that the amount designated as housing allowance for each of the ministers of the Gospel named above shall apply to calendar year 2017 and all future years during which each of the above ministers are employed by The Episcopal Diocese of California, unless amended by the Executive Council.
