Today s Daily Prayer Jesus has a priesthood that does not pass away In this reading from the letter to the Hebrews the author refers to the Levitical priesthood. The tribe of Levi descended from Levi, the third son of Jacob. They provided religious and educational activities to the other tribes, who paid them a tithe. The role was passed from father to son. The author explains that because they were human with human frailties, in the end each would die. But Jesus as the perfect human is the perfect priest forever and because of this, we can pray to him to intercede on our behalf. That is why we often finish prayers with: We ask this through Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Brothers and sisters: The Levitical priests were many because they were prevented by death from remaining in office, but Jesus, because he remains forever, has a priesthood that does not pass away. Therefore, he is always able to save those who approach God through him, since he lives forever to make intercession for them. This year we are lucky to welcome the Westgate Concert Band to Resurrection who will play Christmas Carols for us to sing along to the classes will be rehearsing over the coming weeks. Watch out for further information about this evening in upcoming newsletters. School Carpark Unfortunately, it seems that when we don t have a notice in the newsletter about the use of the carpark, we start noticing inappropriate behaviour. Please be careful moving about in the carpark at all times. The bollards are placed in the centre of the carparks to enable cars to drive over them. I have only noticed a couple of cars that are set so low to have a need to avoid them. Also, please do not let your children out of the cars to run across the carpark particularly if you are a few minutes late; park toward the rear of the carpark and walk your child/ren to the gate or to the office if you need to sign them in. May God bless you, John Connors PRINCIPAL

PARISH NEWS Office Closed The office staff will be having a planning day for 2019 on Wednesday 14 th November, therefore the office will be closed. Please email enquiries to kingspark.cam@org.au St. Vincent De Paul Society Christmas Tree Christmas is around the corner and this year St. Vinnie s Christmas tree will be up in early December near the piety store at the back of the church. A wooden tag holder with gift tags for boys and girls from the ages (1 to 12 years old) along with hamper tags are to be taken home and brought back with gifts and hampers as early as possible. We will distribute all toys and hampers to families before Christmas. When we visit families during week evenings parents are already asking if they are on the Christmas list. It all depends on how much we have to give. Without the generosity of the parishioners, Christmas day would not be as happy and exciting for children as it could be. Many families, single mothers, and single people are struggling to make ends meet. The conference will close on Friday 30 th November and will reopen on Monday 4 th February 2019. Thank you from the St. Vincent De Paul Team November Remembrance Book Our special remembrance book will be available before all Masses during the month of November. If you have previously recorded the deceased person name in the remembrance book there is no need to do it again. No Mass There will be no Mass on Thursday 22 nd November at 7.00pm 1 st Reconciliation Grade three Resurrection Primary school children are experiencing God s love and forgiveness in the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time. Please keep the children and their families in your prayers. Christ the King Since 1925 the universal Church has celebrated the 35 th and last Sunday of Ordinary Time with the Feast of Christ the King. The feast honours the Christ s sovereignty over all persons, families, nations and the whole universe. For the past 18 years we as a parish, have celebrated this feast with a distinctive Samoan flavour. IT gives us an opportunity as a parish to recognise and celebrate with our parishioners who trace their root back to Samoa. The celebrations will be at our 10.30am Mass on Sunday 25 th November. Save the date Mark your calendars, our next working bee will be on Saturday 1st December from 8.30am till Noon. Many hands make light work. This will be our last working bee for the year, so please try and make every effort to be there. Invitation to Parish BBQ Break Up If you are in a Parish Group or part of a ministry or help in anyway, you and your family are invited to come along to our end of year BBQ. Sausages, Hamburgers and drinks will be provided. Date: Wednesday, 5th December 2018 Time: 7pm What to bring: A salad or dessert to share. 55 + Upcoming Events Tuesday 13th November - Bingo & Movie. $5 per person. Tuesday 11th December Christmas Lunch. Save the date, lunch will be held at the St. Albans Sports Club. For all those interested please contact Elizabeth Thompson on 0435791390.

Port Phillip Prison Fr Gerard will be celebrating Mass at Port Phillip prison this Tuesday 27 th November. There will be a Communion Service instead of the usual Mass at 9.30am on that day. Western Spirituality in the Pub Father Kevin Dillon has kindly accepted our invitation to be the speaker at our next Western Spirituality in the Pub. We are delighted that he has done so. In this time after the release of the Recommendations of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse and subsequently the response of the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference, Fr Kevin will have much to share with us. He personally has worked generously and tirelessly with people who were in institutions as children and were sexually abused. Fr Kevin is a compassionate man who also hungers and thirsts for righteousness, for justice. Put 28th November in your diary now, let your friends and others know and come along for a thought provoking and challenging evening.
