You can do so by emailing Mark Bond at markbond@etczone.com or by checking the Next Step box in the weekly bulletin the first couple of weeks of May. If you enjoy singing in a 4-part SATB choir, please considered joining in this summer event. Doug Haldeman has volunteered to lead the seasonal choir in their preparation for this performance. Clay in His Hands, Mark Mark Bond Minister of Worship & Discipleship The Jelly Church?? Over the past few years, BCC has collected jelly for the Summer Food Program in Batesville. This program provides lunches for school children who, during the school year, would be provided lunch at school. We are now known as the jelly church by the program organizers! Jerry Bennett is coordinating the collection at our church, which will start May 8 and run through the end of the month.. If you see a good deal on jelly (any variety) please consider picking up a few jars for the Summer Food Program.

MINISTRY LEADERS: Shirley Ponsot & Laura Cole Email: CR.BatesvilleCC@gmail.com Second Step Study Starts 5/26 Seek the Lord and His strength; seek his face continually. Psalms 105:4 This has been an exciting time for our members at B.C.C. We have almost finished our 1 st step study for C.R. (Celebrate Recovery). We ve had 18 women and 6 men attending and many friendships have formed. Joe, Laura, & I have sought out Our Wonderful Counselor for instruction and timing and asked the Holy Spirit to be part of our time together in order to encourage & lift up one another during our time of sharing. Our Lord Jesus Christ is showing us how he is working in our lives. I believe it has been through several blessings at Batesville Christian Church: Prayer Did you know several members of our church have been fasting and praying one day each week for months for this ministry? Praise the Lord we have those devoted to our Savior in this way as God answers prayer! Leadership Our leaders and their wives have been seeking to do the will of God and follow his prompts. Our leaders are called to shepherd God s flock. This is caring for the Lord s people and seeking the lost. Please stop now and say a prayer of thanks for our pastors, elders, and their wives as we need them for guidance. The Power of the Word The Scriptures are full of examples of people the Holy One used for his work. Most of these men and women were simple ordinary people and all were sinners, just like you and me. Praise Him for his word. Henry Blackaby was quoted in Experiencing God bible study as saying, If you feel weak, ordinary, or plain you are the perfect material which can be used by God to do the extraordinary! People Following the lead of the Holy Spirit Many have volunteered to step up and help in some way. This is wonderful! I m encouraged by Paul s words in II Corinthians 12: 10 For when I am weak then I am strong. What about you? Are you willing to follow the Savior and volunteer in some way? Become part of his family today even if it s in a small way. He will bless your efforts, I ve seen it! In His Service, Shirley Ponsot On the National Day of Prayer, May 5th, there will be a Community Prayer Service downtown Batesville by the Gazebo. Please join us in prayer for America! Come on your lunch hour and bring your friends. The service starts at Noon and will last 30 minutes, with a free lunch will served afterward. BCC is organizing the program on behalf of the Batesville Ministerial Association.

MAHONING VALLEY CHRISTIAN CAMP 2016 The leadership at Batesville Christian Church would like to make the camp experience possible for all kids, so this year we are excited to again offer the opportunity for all youth grades 1 12 to attend Mahoning Valley Christian Service Camp for free. That s right! The church will pay 100% of the camp registration fee for any member of our church. We are also pleased to be able to pay 50% of the registration fee for any friends our youth would like to invite to camp, and for non-members who are regularly attending here. In order to take advantage of this great opportunity, you will need to register for camp no later than May 15. After that date, you will be responsible for the late fees ($10- $50) imposed by the camp for late registrations. In order to provide the free/discounted tuition, we ask that you: For online registration **NEW this year*** www.batesvillechristianchurch.org will have a Register for Camp button on the Home page, which will walk you through the registration process. For paper/mail-in forms - contact the church office to get a coupon code to use on the registration form. Whether by mail or online, be sure registration is completed before the May 15 th cutoff. You can register after that time, but late fees will apply. We encourage you to put camp at the top of your child s list of summer activities. Have them invite a friend. It s a non-threatening, fun environment and a great way to introduce someone to Christ for the very first time. For those who already know Christ, this is a great place to grow closer to Him. Camp Rally Day is Sunday, May 15 th from 3-6pm. Tour the campgrounds, check out the dorms, meet the missionaries in residence, learn about the 2016 lessons, and get a taste of the Mahoning Valley experience. Free dinner and a chance to try out some of the camp activities: fishing, canoeing, hiking, Archery Tag! Attached to this letter is a Camp Registration Form. We ask all parents to prayerfully consider sending your kids to camp. It s a great experience! In Him, Nick Nick Tuttle Minister of Youth & Family Life Sunday, May 15th Sunday Night Hangout BCC Fellowship Hall Middle/High School 6-7:30 High School only 7:30-9 Games Food Fun! We will have a dinner for the teachers following the 11am service that day.

What Does It Mean to Pray In Jesus Name? If you ve been around church long enough you have probably heard a number of people end their public prayers with some variation of in Jesus Name. Why do they do that? Maybe you end your prayers that way, too, but have never really considered why. While not an incantation that must be uttered in order for God to hear our prayers, praying in Jesus Name is a powerful reminder of deep biblical truth. One such truth is what Jesus did for us so that we might have access to God. In our sin, we are blocked from God s holy presence. However, Jesus changed all that. For those who put their faith in Christ and in what He has done for them, they can confidently draw near to God through Jesus. As the author of Hebrews says, Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, His body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith (Hebrews 10:19-22a). Because Jesus lived a sinless life and offered Himself up as our sacrifice, we can now enter into the Most Holy Place. So, when we pray in Jesus Name, we are saying we know we have access to God not because of anything we have done, but because of what Jesus has done for us. In his book, Prayer: Experiencing Awe and Intimacy with God, Tim Keller writes, To pray in Jesus Name means to come to God in prayer consciously trusting in Christ for our salvation and acceptance and not relying on our own credibility or record. It is, essentially, to reground our relationship with God in the saving work of Jesus over and over again (p. 105). Unfortunately, some have misapplied a verse like John 14:13-14 where Jesus says, And I will do whatever you ask in My name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask Me for anything in My name, and I will do it. From this verse and others like it, some think that by saying the words in Jesus Name obligates God to do whatever what they have asked. Not true, for when we pray in His Name we are to be seeking that which will honor and glorify Him and not our own agenda. While saying the words in Jesus Name does not trigger some kind of SEND button sending that prayer directly to the ears of God, those words are a powerful reminder to the one praying and to those listening that our access, our relationship with God are completely dependent upon the person and work of Jesus Christ. "And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other Name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12) Serving Him with you, Steve Steve Yeaton Senior Minister
