A word from the President August turned out to be one of the most exciting times we have seen all year. The month started out with some of the Victory Riders joining Clayton and Vicki Davis (acting state coordinators) along with Melvin and Kathy Warren (northeast area reps) at Jonesville for an informational meeting about forming a chapter there. There were about a dozen interested folks there and by the evening s end a date had been set to consider forming the chapter. Jean and I were asked to join them in that meeting and were happy to be a part of the forming chapter s first meeting where they elected officers and began their journey of seeking God s will in their lives. While we are sad to have lost some of our members to the Jonesville Chapter we also know that God will use them in a mighty way to further His Kingdom and the work of CMA. I want to encourage all of you to be in prayer for the new chapter and those who have accepted God s call on their lives to lead as God guides them. Jean and Norma spent a few days in Hatfield at the CMA offices helping with the Run for the Son prize packaging. They reported that although they worked very hard they enjoyed being on the mountain and serving God through CMA. Any time spent on The Mountain is always a blessing because God s Spirit is so present and strong in that place. The month ended with our state rally held this year in Woodworth. Even though the weather was still on the hot side and riding wasn t as much fun as it has been, the weekend was a blessing because of the fellowship with believers. It was exciting to see Jim and Loretta again and to witness the healing power of our Father. Keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they continue on the long road of recovery. Saturday night the Crowley chapter received their charter, followed by a very moving and motivating message brought by John Ogden, Jr. John also brought the message Friday night which started the weekend s theme of persistence. John spoke of the value of sticking with it even when the going gets tough and the road is rough. He reminded us that no one has ever won by quitting and you can t serve God by giving up. As we think about John Jr. s encouragement to persevere I want to also encourage you to keep praying for God s leadership in your life as we look to officer elections. God has a job for every one of us and we must seek His guidance if we are to serve where He wants us to. Let me close by sharing with you how I almost missed an opportunity to follow God s will. Late Saturday afternoon at the state rally I had walked back to the snack room to get a drink. When I came out I saw Billy sitting in the chapel room looking over the notes he had (he was going to share with us that afternoon in a session). As I walked by, God told me to stop and pray for Billy and I paused for a moment at the door and then turned and headed back to where Jean and the rest of the chapter were sitting. Just as I stepped away from the door Billy looked up at me and I could see he was very nervous. I turned and went back in the room and asked him if I could pray with him. God used that few minutes as I prayed for Billy as an opportunity to strengthen and calm him as he prepared to serve as God was leading him.
As the weather cools we will have a lot of good days for being on the bike which means we will also have lots of opportunities to witness and share God s love with those we meet. Last month I encouraged you to be ready by prayer, study and allowing the Holy Spirit to fill your life. This month I also want to encourage you to also have your bike ready. We have tracts, Hope for the Highway Bibles, kickstand coasters, bike blessing stickers and other goodies to put in your bike so that when God opens that door you have the tools you need to share your witness. God loves us and wants to use us; we just have to be ready and willing. It s All About JESUS! David Smith, President Chaplain s Corner # # # # # # # # # Just letting you know that after all that amazing preaching we had at the State Rally, it's hard to top any of those messages. God was wonderful in every way. God's word says in Hebrews 2:1 Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. John Jr. warned us of negative attitudes, to be committed to the cause of the Gospel; to persevere, endure and don't quit. The word of God is our strength and our guide and never leads us astray. The Old Testament warns us of being disobedient to God's Word. The children of Israel wanted to go back to Egypt, but God told them not to, He would not be on their side and they would die. They missed His will and suffered the consequences. We will also suffer if we miss God's will for our daily walk with Him. Let's take time out every day for the Lord Jesus Christ; He is worthy of all Honor, glory and praise. May God bless us all this month with His Holy Will. It s all about Jesus! Norma Sharp, Chaplain Food for Thought I've heard that children laugh 300 to 400 times a day while we adults laugh only a mere 15! Believe it or not, experts say that laughing aids digestion, lowers blood pressure, reduces stress hormones, increases muscle flexion, boosts the immune system, triggers the release of endorphins which are the body's natural painkillers, heals broken relationships and produces a general sense of well-being! Let's not take everything so seriously! Let's start laughing at ourselves a little, and laughing at our enemy's attempts to keep us burdened and oppressed! If I may quote from a wonderful old song, we may lose a battle now and then, but we ve already won the war! # # # # # # # # # # Victory Riders online calendar: http://www.my.calendars.net/cmavictoryriders Victory Riders website: http://cmascr4.org/la/victoryriders
