The prelude is your invitation to quiet preparation for the worship of Almighty God. GATHERING AS GOD S PEOPLE PRELUDE All Hail the Power Joel Raney WELCOME Alex Lang CALL TO WORSHIP One: Are we there? All: No, we have not reached our destination. We have been traveling a long way together, seeking the truth, growing in our knowledge and faith, and hoping to be witnesses who share the glorious news. One: For when Lent began we were in the wilderness; All: and now we are in Jerusalem, celebrating Jesus triumphant entry. One: We have followed Jesus this far; All: let us continue the journey together as the week reveals God s love for us, One: and as we witness, once more, that with every step of the journey, God has been with us. All: Let us worship God! HYMN 197 Hosanna, Loud, Hosanna! Ellacombe CALL TO CONFESSION PRAYER OF CONFESSION Gracious and Loving God, we have not turned out to be the people you have called us to be. We stand cheering and waving our palm branches with excitement, but in reality we reject each other. Some, because of who they are, and others because of who they are not. It might be the color of their skin, the way they dress, where they live, or even that they do not have a place to live. As we live in a superficial world surrounded by false images and messages, all the while we break your heart and destroy ourselves and others. Change us, O God! Help us to be the people you called us to be. When we are weak, make us strong; when we are hurt or resentful, make us forgiving; when we are defeated or discouraged, make us hopeful. Teach us to be welcoming of all, so that others may see you within us. SILENT CONFESSION in Jesus name we pray. Amen. WORDS OF FORGIVENESS One: Hear the Good News! God is not done with us! God is working in us and in the world around us. God has not left us, nor forsaken us. God is shaping us, molding us, and calling us to be the body of Christ in the world. Therefore, know that we are all beloved children of God and are forgiven. All: Thanks be to God. Let us rejoice!

RESPONSE (Hymn 555) O Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world; have mercy on us, Lamb of God, and grant us your peace. PASSING THE PEACE One: The peace of Jesus Christ be with you. All: And also with you. One: Let us share the peace of Christ with one another. COMMUNITY LIFE HEARING GOD S WORD PRAYER OF ILLUMINATION SCRIPTURE READING Luke 19:28-48 (Pew Bible, p. 854) The Word of the Lord/Thanks be to God! ANTHEM Through It All Andraé Crouch, arr. Lari Goss I ve had many tears and sorrows, I ve had questions for tomorrow; there ve been times when I didn t know right from wrong. But in every situation, God gave me blessed consolation that my trials only come to make me strong. I ve been to a lot of places and I ve seen a lot of faces; there ve been times when I feel so all alone. But in those lonely hours, in those precious lonely hours, Jesus let me know that I was His own. Through it all, I ve learned to trust in Jesus, I ve learned to trust in God. Through it all, I ve learned to depend upon His Word. Well, I thank God for the mountains and I thank Him for the valleys; I thank Him for the storms He brought me through. For if I never had a problem, I wouldn t know that He could solve them; I wouldn t know what my faith in His Word could do. Some through the waters, some through the flood; Some through the fire but all through the blood. Chancel Choir; Nick Pulikowski, tenor SERMON Tears Alex Lang TIME OF SILENT REFLECTION AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (The Heidelberg Catechism) One: Why is he called CHRIST, that is, the ANOINTED ONE? All: Because he is ordained by God the Father and anointed with the Holy Spirit to be our chief Prophet and Teacher, fully revealing to us the secret purpose and will of God concerning our redemption; to be our only High Priest, having redeemed us by the one sacrifice of his body and ever interceding for us with the Father; and to be our eternal King, governing us by his Word and Spirit, and defending and sustaining us in the redemption he has won for us. HYMN 760 Bring Many Names Westchase GIVING THANKS TO GOD PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE

LORD S PRAYER Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen. OFFERING OFFERTORY Lift Up Your Head, O Ye Gates G.F. Handel Lift up yours heads, O ye gates, and be ye lifted up, ye everlasting doors, and the king of glory shall come in. Who is the King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, mighty in battle. The Lord of hosts, He is the King of glory. Chancel Choir DOXOLOGY (Hymn 606) Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below; praise him above, ye heavenly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
