FATHER JOSEPH O CALLAHAN SJ ASSEMBLY 2820 NEWSLETTER AUGUST 2018 Message from Faithful Navigator Brothers: As we start this new fraternal year I would like to congratulate all the officers elected for the new fraternal year. As each year begins it is important that we continue to grow in membership and participation from the members, and all the Councils represented. Part of this growth does not just involve activity and membership, it also requires us to grow spiritually as well. I fully expect that we will continue to keep in place some of the Assembly activities that have been established. These include the Wreaths across America, Flag Retirement Ceremonies, Hawaiian Luau, and Veteran s support. After all, we are the Patriotic Degree. I will continue to help and promote the participation of the Color Corps. The more visible we are, the more attractive it is to be a Fourth Degree member. Next month we will also have a Men s retreat in August to support Father Daniel and the Catholic Church on the UNLV campus. We will be hosting the Fourth Degree Exemplification in September. It is also my hope that we can streamline the administrative process of the Assembly by making it easier to exchange information between the officers and improve the transparency to the Trustees. We will continue to ask for more input and participation from the Grand Knights at the Officer s Meeting. This process should help disseminate the activities of each Council as well. Vivat Jesus SK Bob B. Sotelo, Faithful Navigator ****************************************************************************** A little humor.. 1 P a g e FATHER JOSEPH O CALLAHAN SJ ASSEMBLY 2820 NEWSLETTER

In God's plan, each person is unique and irreplaceable. A person comes into this world in a family, which is the first focus of humanization, and above all the first school of peace. To build peace, we need to look to the family, supporting it and facilitating its task, and in this way promoting an overall culture of life. The effectiveness of our commitment to peace depends on our understanding of human life. If we want peace, let us defend life! -Pope Emeritus Benedict VII We all suffer for each other, and gain by each other's suffering; for man never stands alone here, though he will stand alone hereafter; but here is he is a social being, and goes forward to his long home as one of a large company.
