From the Pastor Cambridge, MA What a winter it is shaping up to be! Extreme cold (warmish) snow rain a little something for everyone all within one week! Hopefully the weather will not put a damper on our planned activities for the next couple of months. Most importantly, of course, is weekend Mass. Truth be told I have not yet found it impossible for me to get to church (ha ha). That basically means if anyone else shows up, we have Mass as scheduled. We also have a number of wonderful programs scheduled. Coming up is a Holy Hour for Life, this coming Tuesday. On Sunday, January 28 th, we will sponsor our tribute to Fr. Dan Harrington, SJ, with Fr. Dick Clifford, SJ as our speaker. We also have two different programs looking at the topic of Women in the Bible. And, this month also, we observe Catholic Schools Week with a School Open House and special activities for the students all week long. And lastly, THANKS to our parishioners who helped to serve meals at the Harvard Square Meals Program throughout December and January. THANKS also to the Sunday Morning Small Faith Group for their continued efforts in providing relief to the people of Puerto Rico in the name of Saint Peter Parish. Daniel J. Harrington, SJ Scripture Lecture Presented by Richard Clifford, SJ Sunday, January 28, 6:15 p.m., Parish Center The Unity of the Christian Bible: Three Exodus Moments Rev. Richard Clifford, SJ, Emeritus professor of Old Testament at Boston College, will deliver this year s Harrington Memorial Scripture Lecture. He was General Editor of the Catholic Biblical Quarterly and is a former President of the Catholic Biblical Association. A former President of Weston Jesuit School of Theology, he was Founding Dean of the Boston College School of Theology and Ministry from 2008-2010. As well as teaching and lecturing in scholarly circles, he is also active in adult education in various New England dioceses. He and Dan Harrington were graduate students together at Harvard and then lifelong faculty colleagues. Please join us on Sunday, January 28, following the 5:00 p.m. Mass. Holy Hour for Life Tuesday, January 23, 7:00 p.m. Please join us in the church, for an hour of prayer and exposition of the Holy Eucharist, in support of the dignity of human life from conception to natural death, for those who have been wounded by abortion, and all facing death and terminal illness. St. Vincent de Paul Meeting Wednesday, January 24, 7:00 p.m., Parish Center Please join our meeting and learn about our ministry to those in need. All are welcome! If you need help or know of anyone who does, please call the parish office in confidence at (617-547-4235 x113) and a member of our ministry will respond promptly. Pope Tweets @Pontifex Scripture Study: Women in the New Testament Wednesdays, 7-8:30 p.m., Parish Center Our next Scripture Study will begin on Wednesday, January 31, 7-8:30 p.m. in the Parish Center. If you are interested in joining, please contact Anna Molettieri amolettieri@saintpetercambridge.org or 617-547-4235 x117 to sign up and arrange to pick up the materials before the first meeting. No previous experience is needed. All are welcome! 4 The more we are rooted in Christ, the more we rediscover interior peace, even in the midst of daily challenges. January 10, 2018 We must not wait to be perfect before responding to the Lord who calls us, but rather open our hearts to His voice. January 13, 2018

January 21, 2018 Thank You for Supporting Puerto Rico! Thank you for your generous support for the parish Puerto Rico relief effort. By working with the Sisters of Divine Providence in Bayamon and Arecibo, we have been able to send items to be distributed as needed. The parish has sent lanterns, water filtration systems, and supplies for kitchen, bath, and laundry. All have been received and appreciated. Sister Veronica shared an example from Bayamon: a neighbor caring for his disabled brother requested a headlamp. Being able to see in the dark hours while keeping his hands free to assist his brother has made a big difference for this family. Sister Inecita, who is in Arecibo, says We thank you for your generosity, for the example of a profound faith that is alive and acting on behalf of those in need. We are continuing to accept donations. If you wish to help, please write Puerto Rico in the memo line, and place your check in the collection basket. Thank you! St. Peter School Gala Saturday March 10 Save the date for the 15th Annual Dare to Dream Auction and Gala to benefit Saint Peter School. This is the major fundraising event in support of our wonderful school. Invitations have been mailed. If you did not receive one and would like to attend, help with the gala, or contribute, please call Eve Encinas- Lončar at 617-547-0101 x130. Women in the Bible - Part II Sundays, 10:15-11:15 a.m., Parish Center Please join us in our second workshop to learn about more notable women in the bible. This workshop is open to all (first timers as well as those who have participated in Part I), and no prior knowledge of the subject is necessary. You are welcome to join us for as many sessions as you can. The more we study these eternal characters, the more we know about our present selves, regardless of gender. All relevant material will be provided. Please confirm your interest and participation to olga.turcotte@yahoo.com, or call the parish office at 617-57-4235 x117. Receive Important Parish Notices by Email We send notices and reminders of upcoming parish events by email to parishioners.
