President s Report Last week s guest speaker was Past District Governor 2007-8 Dick Garner of Rotary Club of Hampton who provided information about the Soap Aid program. Soap Aid sent 60,000 bars of soap in one month to disadvantaged Cambodian families. It was inspiring to see how the recycling of waste products can be converted into improved health outcomes with the help of Rotary manpower and a world-wide network. Many clubs are talking about declining membership. Here is our data: Add to this the fact that at least 79% of us are over 60 and we now have 24 Active members. There were some interesting comments about membership in an article on page eleven of the July Edition of Rotary Down Under entitled Can We Remove the Baggage?. It starts with: 4
What do you think about this? There are probably as many different formats for clubs now as there are clubs. The Membership Committee are attending a District Seminar in a few weeks and should have a variety of ideas for discussion at the next club Forum. We aren t alone with errors in the directory. Alma Reynolds, District Secretary wrote: Also, there appears to be some discrepancies in the Directories, so DG Malcolm is requesting that you check every detail pertinent to your club and let me know by email any issues you encounter including wrong information, missed information and information included that should not be (e.g. members who have left the club). I have noted that Peter Polovinka still rates a spot! This is frustrating when a very careful check was performed by Wandin and any errors notified a few months ago. There is a major fundraising event planned for this weekend to contribute to the construction of the Seville War Memorial. It is a morning tea at Wild Cattle Creek Estate where Dr Brendon Nelson is the special guest. Booking and info at: www.trybooking.com/book/event?eid=285095&. We may have taken a small step towards using social media this week. I have revised the Rotary Club of Wandin Facebook Account. You will be able to get to it without having a Facebook account by just searching a browser for: Rotary Club of Wandin Facebook. Alternatively past this URL into a devices address line: https://www.facebook.com/rotary-club-of-wandin-1400972540170485/ Let me have your constructive criticism. BRIAN 5

Rotary at Mt DeLancey On Saturday 24th June, we installed 2 Tables and seat, They look fantastic. Thanks to Max for offering to do all of the welding for this project and John Sanders for all of his great work on the preparation of the timber off site Also a big thanks to the Rotarians who helped out on site. Also a very special thanks to Pauline Barrett for the beautiful morning tea that she provided. I am sure that these tables will be in use for many years. Gavan 7
