October 15, 2017 28 th Sunday in Ordinary Time Scarcity and Abundance Many of us are often preoccupied with this one simple question: How does one live a happy, content life? Today s readings address this question in a bold way, perhaps even in a way that may make us rather uncomfortable. Happiness can be found when we embrace equality. Contrary to the social reality of the times, in Matthew s Gospel, Jesus paints the kingdom of God as a feast of equals - equal in status; equal in dignity. We are all called to work towards this kingdom of equals. We have all been given an invitation to the table yet it is up to us to accept. If we choose to accept this invitation, if we embrace this radical notion that all are equal, that all of us have a place at the table, then the happiness and contentment that will follow will be similar to what we will experience in God s kingdom. The feast is ready... Go out, therefore, into the main roads and invite to the feast whomever you find. The servants went out into the streets and gathered all they found, bad and good alike, and the hall was filled with guests. To be happy, to be content, to be fulfilled it is up to us to embrace the cycle of scarcity and abundance, to walk with our neighbor on the margins, to stand for equality. This is our call. Will we accept? Porsia Tunzi -Celebration PROLIFE CELEBRATION SUNDAY OCTOBER 15TH. AT 9:15AM. SAVE THIS TIME & DATE. Here at St Cyril s in Wilsonville we will have a grand program to show how proud we are of this beautiful piece of art depicting our Blessed Virgin, Baby Jesus and a pro-life quote that remembers the innocent victims of abortion on the permanent Monument being installed in our activities center landscape area. This monument will be a reminder for us to pray for the thousands of lives lost from abortion, but also to pray for the persons impacted by unwanted pregnancies in their lives. This monument is 3ft wide, 4ft high and 4in thick granite, polished on both sides to last beautiful for years through NW weather conditions. The planned ceremony will be on Sunday morning, Oct 15th at 9:15 am. Included in our program will be Fr Brian introducing our Auxiliary Bishop Peter Smith, a Forceful ProLife advocate, along with Oregon Right To Life Executive Director just retired, Gayle Atteberry. Gayle a name many of us are familiar with in receiving alerts during the State Legislation sessions and her many years of her ProLife Leadership.
