The students had a wonderful time completing their final writing pieces on what they loved most about this year. Many of them mentioned our field trip to Beaver Lake, our classroom holiday parties, and the many fun science projects that we did. One of their favorite projects was the most recent one, in which they created models of different habitats and shared their models with their classmates. The students were eager to learn about the different climates of the habitats and the different plants and animals in each habitat. They had many questions for each other. The second graders are sad to be leaving Second Grade, but are excited for the summer and looking forward to learning many new things next year in Third Grade at SMA! SIXTH GRADE NEWS I have been asking myself this question. Where did the school year go? I do know where the students are going...cba or Grimes or Bishop Ludden or Ray and even to a school in Florida. They are following the path that God will be walking with them. We have prepared all year for this journey in our academics, but more importantly in our faith through prayer and service for others. I know in my heart that they will continue to pray for their parish family and grow in God's grace. Thank you for your prayers and support for this school year. All-CNY High School Sports Awards lacrosse! Congratulations to our very own, Ben Dwyer! Ben was awarded the Overall Male Athlete award at the inaugural All-CNY High School Sports Awards on Thursday, June 14th. Ben played three sports during his high school years - football, hockey and lacrosse - and was team captain in each sport. In addition to his sports achievements, Ben was named his class valedictorian. Ben is also one of 25 finalists for the U.S. Army-Pro Football Hall of Fame Award for Excellence. This award will be announced in August at the Pro Football Hall of Fame weekend in Canton, Ohio. He has been accepted to attend the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the fall, and he plans to study mechanical engineering and play both football and We wish Ben all the best in his future endeavors! Knights of Columbus - Catholic Youth Recognition Awards Congratulations to two life-long youth parishioners: Catherine Lynch & Connor Whiteside! Catherine and Connor were St. Mary s 2018 recipients of the Knights of Columbus Catholic Youth Recognition Awards. Each year, awards are given to two young people from each of the parishes that the Knights of Columbus Council #5082 supports (St. Augustine s, St. Mary s, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, and St. Stephen s). This award recognizes young people who have stayed committed to the Church and community. Catherine has been an active member of our Youth Ministry program, as well as our adult choir. She enjoys volunteering her time to help others and has participated in community service projects like Summer Servants and Brady Faith Center. She exemplifies what it means to be Catholic and sets a great example for others in our parish community. Connor has been a faith-filled, active parishioner here at St. Mary s. Not only does he attend Mass each week, he also serves in church ministries as an usher, greet and lector. He is always a friendly, smiling face and serves as an excellent example to our younger parishioners of what a practicing teenage Catholic looks like. Both of these members of our parish live their faith each and every day, and it is such a wonderful thing to see! Congratulations again to both Catherine and Connor! We wish you all the best in your future!
