View from the Pew We re Praying for You!! Doug Martin & Family Sister Wilson Dee & Sandy Bayless Marvin Breedlove Marva Quigley & Family Betty Thompkins Oh Brother Oh Sister Back in 1974, when I started to attend here at Perry Church of God / Lake Erie Church of God, the people called each other Brother and Sister a lot! Oh boy, I had never heard such a thing. To be honest, it felt uncomfortable to hear it, let alone say it. Brother So and So, or Sister So and So. Yet, 40 years later, I am still attending this very church and you can find some of us oldies still referring to each other as brother and sister. Why? You may be wondering and maybe asking Well I am so glad you asked because during all those years, I learned more and more about our Heavenly Father. He is my Dad He is your Dad I call Him Father and you call Him your Father. Do you get it? You ARE my Brother, and you ARE my Sister. See this whole brother and sister thing is what our dear Heavenly Father has Reflections been trying to instill into our brains. If you are new in this church or one of the oldies surprise! You are the family that God has designed to be His. Oh, and try to remember this, as I sit in these pews looking around at each and every one of You, I am totally thinking You are my brother.and you are my sister and I love you. K's Korner There is a SET TIME The time is set!!! Whatever God has put on your heart to do, to say, apologize, to get the offense straight or at least try in some cases, "Now is your time." We all have walked around thinking I'll do that tomorrow. l'll talk to the person next time. Or I'll start that idea that the Holy Ghost gave me next week. But we look around and our time is up. Everything has a time set for it, whether it's your life, relationship, ministry or your job. Let's live in the now. When our time is up we can leave this world emptied out, because we have finished the race and we can hear "Well done thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things enter thou into the joy of the Lord." (Matthew 25:21) Upcoming Events You are not going to want to miss our Fall Revival and Homecoming Celebration with Joel Tally Rising in the Fall!! Saturday Oct. 21, 2017 @ 6:00 P.M. Sunday Oct. 22, 2017 @ 10:00 A.M. Join us afterwards for a Luncheon Breaking Free Book Club Speak to the fear, the unforgiveness, the unsurety and the unbelief and cast it out. You must believe that God called you just like he called the Apostle, the Bishop, the Teacher, etc. When Christ opened the door and said, "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believed in him should not perish, but have everlasting life". (John 3:16). Have you forgotten, that you are that whosoever and you have been bought with a price? You say "you are a believer in Christ well get up and make a decision to do His will, not your own will, not your friend s will, not your spouse s will, not the devil s will, not even your father or mother's will, but the Will of the Great I AM. It's time to stop seeing the John 3:16 on a sign, at a game, on a billboard or tattooed on some body parts. It's time to live it, be a witness for Christ and be a light unto the world. Think it not strange, get up and be about the Father s business. Join us on Monday evenings @ 6:30 P.M. at LEC as we start Bad Girls of the Bible by Liz Curtiss Higgs The time is set. Your end date is near. Written by Kinja Walton.
Talking with our First Lady Who is the New First Lady of LEC? Angel Boll she s the 43 year old wife of Pastor Rich, and mother of Tyler, Savannah, and Emma. She was born and raised in a Pentecostal home. Her father was a Church of God minister. While she says he never desired to pastor, he would instead preach at small churches when the pastor was called away. Sister Angel recalls standing up as a little girl and quoting the books of the Bible. Then as she grew older began singing before he preached. What is your passion? Angel s passion Is Ministry. She enjoys teaching and worship. She has always loved to teach and has taught just about all ages at some point. She began leading worship at about the age of 13 on Wednesday evenings "youth night". She has lead worship or been on a worship team for 30 years (whoa!). She has ministered at her local church and other churches. What is your favorite Scripture? Angel says that she has so many "favorite" verses it is hard to single one out. Jerimiah 29:11 has always reminded her of God's sovereignty. Sister Angel shares that recently she has had to depend on Isaiah 26:3. While God has delivered her from depression, she still battles with anxiety. She says that it is so critical to keep God the focus and not fears or worries. Some days are more successful than others! What is your favorite food? Her favorite food is pizza. Says she could eat pizza every day. And, she loves chocolate! Of course what woman doesn t? What is your favorite movie? While she doesn t have a favorite movie, Angel is a huge Hallmark movie buff. What is your favorite holiday? Angel LOVES CHRISTMAS! It seems to be the time of year people at least attempt to get along. Of course for us believers, we recognize that the birth of our Savior was the beginning of the grand plan of redemption for us. Have you done any missionary trips? Although she knows very little Spanish, Angel has been to Honduras twice to minister. The first trip she took an armorbearer with her who spoke Spanish. Her second trip there was a team that included one bilingual person.
In other News Healing Life Changing Powerful Thought-Provoking Profound Amazing are just a few words many have used to describe the encounter that took place at 6:10 pm, Saturday, September 30th at Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio. Who would have ever guessed that the Lord would orchestrate the lives of 22 God-fearing women representing various churches from Lake and Cuyahoga Counties, as well as from the states of Indiana and Illinois, to collaborate in Spirit together for a powerful stage production entitled The I AM Woman Encounter! The IAWE showcased monologues beginning with Eve in the Garden of Eden and ending with Anna beholding baby Jesus...the Savior of the World, in the temple. The play was written to convey the message of God s Glory rising out of the ashes of barrenness, death, pain, sorrow, and sin and how Almighty God uses all things to work together for good to them that love HIM and are the called according to HIS purpose. Romans 8:28 To see the lives of biblical women come alive through song, dance and drama was truly incredible. The audience became a living part of the encounter as they listened as Eve uncovered her feelings about the dreadful day in the garden and the tremendous blame she carried as a result of her disobedience. Some cried with Tamar as she painfully described being raped by her brother Amnon. While others chuckled and shook their heads in disbelief as Delilah, Herodias and Jezebel tried hard to justify their wicked and sinful acts. And EVERYONE rejoiced with Prophetess Anna as she heralded the coming of the Messiah upon seeing the face of Baby Jesus! This was truly an Encounter! The I AM Woman Encounter took the audience AND each cast member on a journey to a place of deep spiritual examination with each biblical enactment. Questions like: Why did this happen to me? Can God use my pain for a purpose? and Can God really use ME? were answered in the light of each Biblical character YES He can and YES He will! The IAWE reminds women that throughout history, God has fashioned people into His plan that have made mistakes, struggled, stumbled, failed, were flawed and simply just messed up. For it is in these times, the Lord teaches His greatest lessons, extends His great mercy, forgets with forgiveness and reveals the riches of His Glory along the way. Bad situations are really just predestined opportunities to see the I AM Power of God manifested. But it is only seen through the lens of faith. Wow, only the Holy Ghost could bring such a diverse (age, race, ethnicity, marital status, church denomination) group of women together and have them press past issues, conflicting schedules, personal obligations, personalities, distance, and ESTROGEN and weave the lives of the Great Women of the Word into their own life stories and present it live and relevant to an audience of over 80 attendees. What a Mighty God we Serve! I would like to thank all the beautiful women of God who made this production a powerful blessing and a tremendous joy! We could not have done it without you! A special Thank you and God bless you goes out to the directors, stagehands, choreographers, music director and photographer. If you missed this Encounter, you missed a treat! But wait God is not through with the IAWE! An encore production is in our prayers and plans. Maybe you can be a part of the next Encounter experience and become God s I Am Woman.
