When asked about how they prepare the readings they are to proclaim, some of the most common things we heard were expressions of humility and praying that, even in nervousness, God would speak through them, use them as a tool to communicate the Word. All but three of our lectors were able to attend one of the two sessions, and two new lectors joined us! We are so grateful for their commitment and their willingness to continue to grow in the ministry. ST. Would you be interested in creating a positive environment of education, fun, service, and fellowship for our youth? Can you help us as we prepare our youth to be disciples of Christ and participate fully in our Catholic faith? Please prayerfully consider being a parent volunteer for our team to help us plan and grow our Youth Ministry program. We are excited to bring back this vital ministry! If you are interested, please contact Sean Kelly via email at sean.kelly@sthelenparish.org. CHILDREN S LITURGY OF THE WORD Children s Liturgy of the Word (CLOW) invites all adults to prayerfully consider serving the Church through our exceptional ministry! What could be more important and exciting than leading our wonderful children through the weekly scripture readings at Mass in a way that they can understand and internalize? We invite you and your family to join us in vestibule, to talk with one of our CLOW ministers this weekend at any of the Masses, to find out more about this ministry. If you have any questions please email Sean Kelly at sean.kelly@sthelenparish.org QUALIFIED CHARITABLE DISTRIBUTIONS (QCD s) MIGHT SAVE YOU MONEY! If you are 70.5 years old or older and have a traditional IRA account, your required minimum distribution (RMD) might be exempt from federal and state income taxes if it is distributed directly to a qualified charitable organization. Even though most of us will no longer be itemizing our charitable contributions on our tax returns because of the recent tax changes that almost doubled the standard deduction, we might still be able to reap tax benefits from donations to St. Helen Parish! Talk with your tax advisor and/or ask them if a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) strategy would be beneficial to you!
