Dental decay (cavities) is the most common chronic disease of childhood, affecting 50 percent of children by middle childhood and nearly 70 percent by late adolescence. Other common problems are chronic gingivitis, periodontal, and gum disease. These things can be easily prevented by practicing good oral health care, such as brushing and flossing. The chance of developing one of these diseases can also be limited by eating foods high in vitamin C, vitamin D, folic acid, and zinc. Also remember to have your regular oral check up to help remove plaque buildup and other irritants between your teeth. For more information go to adha.org.
