We re looking for volunteers to trim the Christmas tree on Saturday, Dec 1 at 9:30 a.m. A great time is always had by all and the group continues the fun by going to lunch afterwards. Come if you can! In case of inclement weather the Clerk of Session will call radio station WDUX and TV station WLUK (Fox 11) to notify them of cancellation. If the church is not listed, that means we will have worship for whoever makes it to church. Also, we have implemented a call team. There are three members of our church that split up the membership list and each call one-fourth of the congregation to notify them of the cancellation of worship. CONGREGATIONAL MEETING Join us Sunday, January 20 after worship to approve the 2018 annual report.

Judy Behm will take the donations to Waupaca. Any checks can be made to Children s Hospital. Thanks so much! ~ Judy Behm

First Presbyterian Church thank you so very much for allowing me to go to the Pilgrim Center. We did so much fun things there. We all did dances, plays, cookie decorating, swimming, ping pong, air hockey and lots of outdoor activities. My favorite of all was the game where you need to look for clue words taped around the whole camp. It was even in the woods! You could pick left or right for our words. We chose the left side. When we got back the sun was setting. We quickly scrambled around our words. I kind of know it. We do not need money. All we need is a tent. Once we noticed it was a sentence for a movie we were going to watch. It was the Greatest Showman. The people on the right got the movie Hook with Peter Pan. They told us stay in the cafeteria if you want to watch Hook. If you want to watch The Greatest Showman, go to the chapel. Of course, I went to The Greatest Showman, plus I went to the gift store and got a bag, sweater, soap and a scarf. Thank you so, so, very much for letting me go! In fact that was my favorite year! I appreciate it a lot! Sincerely, Clare Josie (age 11) CHRISTMAS GIVING TREE Thank you to those that have taken a tag and are providing gifts for a child in need. Unwrapped gifts with tag attached are due in the office by Dec 9. 2018 GIVING STATEMENTS Any giving you wish to be included on your 2018 giving statement must be postmarked or in the office no later than December 31. A statement to be used for tax purposes will be available by the end of January. Thank you! In Search of our Kneeling Places In each heart lies a Bethlehem, an inn where we must ultimately answer whether there is room or not. When we are Bethlehem-bound we experience our own advent in his. When we are Bethlehem-bound we can no longer look the other way conveniently not seeing stars not hearing angel voices. We can no longer excuse ourselves by busily tending our sheep or our kingdom. This Advent let s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that the Lord has made known to us. In the midst of shopping sprees let s ponder in our hearts the Gift of Gifts. Through the tinsel let s look for the gold of the Christmas Star. In the excitement and confusion, in the merry chaos, let s listen for the brush of angels wings. This Advent, let s go to Bethlehem and find our kneeling places. ~ Kneeling in Bethlehem by Ann Weems COMMUNITY DINNER Our Nov. 5 Community Dinner was prepared, served and donated by Judy Behm. Fortyseven guests enjoyed Judy s delicious meatloaf, mashed potatoes and green beans, accompanied by salads and desserts from our congregations. We had enough food to also provide 28 carry-outs. The compliments kept coming for Judy s comforting meal, perfect for a chilly, rainy November evening. Thanks to Judy for her annual contribution and to Dave Behm who brings in our outdoor sign and puts away all the folding chairs each month! We appreciated you both so much. Thank you to everyone who helps in every way with this monthly mission project! We could not keep it going without your generous help. The Dec. 3 dinner will be provided by the ladies of St. Anne s Society of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. No food will be needed from our congregation for the Dec. dinner.

SESSION NEWS The Session met on November 5 and here are the main points of what was discussed: Personnel Staff evaluations were done in Oct. Pay and limited benefits approved for staff. Building/Grounds Furnace in Hall was repaired, A/C in Hall will be repaired in Spring 2019. Hot water faucet in kitchen will not be repaired; not used. Quote for window replacement for choir loft and hallway windows discussed. Will revisit in Spring 2019. Finance October financials distributed. 2019 Per Capita is set by Presbytery at $37 per member. Nominating Jan 20, 2019 will be next Congregational meeting to review 2018 Annual Report and election of Nominating Committee. Music/Worship Opening building doors for choir practice will be added to job description of Choir Director. New Business Committee Reports for Annual Report are due December 10. Next Session meeting December 10 at 10:30 a.m. (mainly to discuss 2019 budget) When we set up Manger scenes while neglecting the homeless among us, When we tell stories of Mary but fail to listen to our own pregnant women, When we sing songs about Shepherds but ignore the proclamations of our own poor workers, When we sing of Peace on Earth while our nation wages war, May this Christmas Time be a time where we find God's peace, and truly think about what it means. And when so doing reminds us that we do, in fact, need a Savior... Blessings! Pastor Dan
