VOLUME FIVE ISSUE FOUR APRIL 2016 Dear People of God: The Easter message of the angels to the first visitors to the Empty Tomb was, He is not here. He is risen. Death and the grave cannot hold the Risen Lord. And once out in the world, Jesus goes ahead of his followers to Galilee and invites them to meet him there. The Great Fi y Days of Easter is the me when the Church remembers that our work isn t to stand around the church building arguing about the historicity or nature of the Resurrec on. Our work is to follow Jesus into the world and discover those A MONTHLY places the old is being made new, the downcast are NEWSLETTER OF being raised up, and where new life is burs ng forth TRINITY CHURCH out of the tombs of poverty, injus ce, oppression, or WAUWATOSA grief. Earth Day and Spring Clean-Up The month of April is that me of year when we can finally put away the snow shovels and turn our a en on to the beauty of Spring! On April 22, the worldwide celebra on of Earth Day provides us all with an opportunity to promote ecology and respect for life on the planet as well as to encourage awareness of the growing problems of air, water and soil pollu on. What a perfect me for Spring Clean-Up at Trinity. This year the clean-up will begin on Saturday, April 23th at 8:30 a.m. Could there be a be er way to spend part of a Spring Saturday than with your fellow parishioners? So toss a pair of work gloves in the trunk, bring your favorite rake and trimming tools, and come and join the fun. There will be trimming, raking, pruning and general sprucing-up of the church and rectory grounds. We will try to wrap things up by 11:30 a.m. There will be coffee, water and snacks available to help everyone make it through the morning. See YOU there! All ages welcome! Red Door Clothes Lenten Challenge Thank you so very much to all who donated new and gently used items for our guests at Red Door Clothes, our joint clothing ministry with St. James Parish. Men were challenged to bring in jeans and women, bras. Now the results are in!! Jeans: an even 50. Bras: 121. Wooo Hooo to Trinity women!!! But all sizes of jeans are always needed and soon shorts will be needed, especially for youth. So men, you can always bring in more! 4

A Word from the Senior Jill Paradowski Warden Alleluia! He has risen, He has risen indeed! The music, voices, musicians, flowers, candles, sermons and following His path from Good Friday to Easter was simply magical for me this year. We spent me away this Lent and returned in me for the snow and a moving service on Maundy Thursday. I found the foot washing, especially when two of our young parishioners were part of this custom, to be somber and inspiring. Then on Good Friday the carrying in of the cross, and ligh ng of candles was amazing followed by Taize at its best. The Easter Vigil, with the bap smal candidate answering YES when asked if she wanted to be bap zed, and Easter Sunday were wonderful. I feel so blessed to be part of this amazing church. None of this could have happened without so many talented and hard working people. Thanks to all who made this happen. Now a bit about communica on as a follow up from our survey last fall: Paul and I were blessed to be able to travel during March. We went to an Episcopal church in Arizona that we have visited the last couple of years. The sermon spoke about Martha and Mary and I could so relate to being a Martha. I was reminded that to sit and listen is also important. The work will get done. I thought about Trinity at several mes during the service. For announcements, the senior warden came to the microphone and said: "If I promise not to read you all of the important announcements, will you promise to take them home and read them? Of course, the congrega on said yes. This would be great if we did that too. One way we communicate important events is through the bulle n each Sunday. Barb works very hard to be sure we know what is happening, so please take the insert home with you! Another way to find out what is happening at Trinity is to visit the website at www.trinitywauwatosa.org. I also liked the way they worked to get the congrega on to help with an event. They asked each person as they entered church if they wanted to help with the Easter brunch. If the answer was yes, they were handed an egg with an item to bring! How easy is that? If you are ever interested in helping in any way with food, check in with me or whomever is in the kitchen and we will have a solu on for you. The final thought came around name tags. It was great that everyone wore name tags. The parish could iden fy visitors and welcome them, and as a visitor I knew their name. Let s try and remember that we do not all know each other and wearing our name tags helps both newcomers and some of us who come every Sunday. The vestry and wardens have blue name tags and any- me you have a ques on, look for us and we will try and help. Many blessings to all of you. 5

Thank you! A Note from Trinity's Parish Nurse Phyllis Teets To all who brought in napkins and plates for hospitality. Your dona*ons will be used for the many events at Trinity. Thanks for your help. Parish Picnic Saturday, July 16 11:00 am 3:00 pm There are plenty of disposable adult underwear (Depends, etc.) for men and women that are available in the parish nurse's office.
