Rev. Mike Winters Pastor Ben Harding Music Director Dr. Ray Jones, Jr. Pastor Emeritus WISE BAPTIST NEWS A PUBLICATION FOR MEMBERS AND FRIENDS OF WISE BAPTIST CHURCH February 12, 2019 A place for faith and fellowship with family and friends. Dear Church Family and Friends, Death Valley, California. It is the hottest and driest place in the United States. Temperatures have soared to 134 degrees F. It gets 2 rain a year. The ground is cracked. There seems to be no sign of life. In 2016, Death Valley had a long winter and then one of the wettest years in recent memory. Flowers burst through the ground and carpeted what seemed to be a dry wasteland. Seeds that were invisible were there all along. When the right conditions were present, the miracle of life happened. We can look around and be discouraged, seeing only death and destruction of people and hopes and dreams. That is true on the surface. However, the seeds of life, invisible to us, are there! God says in Isaiah 43:19 Behold, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. Look for the seeds. Then water them and stand on the truth of God in the Bible. Pray. Meet God in others. Worship. Serve. Share His love. And then the miracle of life happens in and around us! Love, Pastor Mike How to Join Wise Baptist Church: Express one of the following to the Pastor during the closing hymn: Transfer of Letter Transfer membership to Wise Baptist Church Baptism Desire to express faith in Christ through baptism Statement of Faith Baptized believer not on a membership roll Watch Care Desire to be connected to our Church family without official membership Important Dates Brief Business Meeting February 13, 6:45pm Men s Bible Study February 19, 6:30am Youth Roller Skating February 23 Wed. MUSIC * Youth * Children News WBC Youth Ministry Greetings!! I feel led to continue my thoughts from the previous newsletters - maybe someone is in need of hearing it. As previously mentioned, we have hope through Christ that we are justified in our faith, and we have strength to persevere through this life knowing that our trials and tribulations are worth it. Have you ever been scared though? Not necessarily unsure, but true fear of the unknown or how you will make it? Satan is the best deceiver in our universe, and it brings him joy to tear apart any confidence that we have in handling any situation we are faced with. However, we have a promise from God that we can lean on in these situations. In the very beginning of the book of Joshua, God assures Joshua that he is not alone going into and traveling through the promised land. God even goes as far as saying "Just as I was with Moses, so shall I be with you." We may not be forging through a new geographic region, but we can be nervous and afraid when we are moving towards our hopes and dreams. Remember, we are not alone for God is always with us through the Holy Spirit. As always, Truth at 5pm and Choir at 6pm on Sunday evenings. We'd love for you to join us! Don t miss out on the fun, fellowship & opportunity to grow in your faith! The Flock meets each Sunday evening at the Youth Building ( Flock Nest )! February 23 God bless you all!!
