Volume 33 December 2013 Number 12 A Word from Preacher Bennie Christmas is coming! I love this time of year! We have just celebrated Thanksgiving and now Christmas is near! What a great time of the year to reflect on God s blessings in our lives and then celebrate the reality that Jesus came into this world to die for our sin! I hope you all have a Merry Christmas! There will be lots of activity around MFBC this month and I hope you will be involved! Christ has come and we can celebrate His goodness and grace during this great time of the year! I want to thank all of you for your prayers during my illness. I appreciate your patience during the healing time. I had felt bad since the end of July and it just took a while to find out what was wrong with me. I didn t know much about blood clots in your lungs but got a pretty good education on them! The Doctor has cleared me and thinks they have dissolved by now. I am feeling better now and do not have to go back to see him until February! Thanks so much for your concern for me during that time! Retta and I love you all and pray for you regularly. Let s pray for one another as many of our folks are going through some difficult times.

I don't know about you guys, but I LOVE CHRISTMAS TIME! As a child, it was my favorite time of year (of course it was all about the presents then). As an adult, it s more than just a present under a tree. I love the quality family time, the catching up with distant relatives that you only see once a year, and the constant smell of baking coming from the kitchen. I love the excitement that my kids have when they open gifts, opening Christmas cards from friends and family, and yes I admit, I dig Christmas music. However, as I grow closer and closer to God, Christmas becomes even more special to me each and every year. Isaiah 9:6 says, For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; and His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. WHAT AN AWESOME GIFT!!! I can think of no better CHRISTmas gift, than that of Jesus Christ himself, born on this earth, lived and died for you and I. Thank you Lord. Can you believe that 2013 is coming to an end? This year has flown by. Seems like just yesterday when my family and I walked in the MFBC Ministry Fair as the newly called recreation minister. Thank you so much for your love and support over the last year. I am even more excited for what the Lord has in store for the recreation ministry in 2014. Many of you have seen the new addition in the Summit. The Fit4Him ministry kicked off in October and we have had some good turnout. The Lord provided the materials and many workers volunteered to come in and build the room for the Fit4Him ministry. Ladies, I encourage you to come on a Tuesday or Thursday night to check out this amazing ministry. I am also excited about the Run for God ministry that we will kick off in 2014. Basketball season has officially landed here in northern Greenville county. We have several teams in our church playing, as well several students playing for local schools. Please continue to pray for these players as they represent Christ and MFBC. Come out, cheer, scream, and support the teams. Bring an air horn or a cowbell. I want to thank all the change agents for their dedication to the recreation ministry this year. Please continue to pray with us as we see and hear God's will for the ladies fitness ministry. Prayer: Lord, please motivate us to live a healthier and happier lifestyle for your glory! Amen! -Christi Powell Spiritual Fitness: Bible Reading is more than a pleasant past time. It can become a daily habit that will change your life. God s Word holds out the promise of rich benefits for those who spend time reading it and taking its truth to heart. But have nothing to do with worldly fables fit only for old women. On the other hand, discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness; 1 Timothy 4:7 It s good to be physically fit, but its even better to be spiritually fit. But how do you get spiritually fit? Funny, but I don't see too many infomercials on spiritual fitness. Maybe we are on to something here! All building materials for the Fit4Him project was donated by: Builders Firstsource Tucker Materials Fred Turner Physical Fitness Get Fit from the Inside Out Instead of only looking to the scale and the mirror for feedback, focus first and foremost on how exercise makes you feel more energetic, healthier, and less stressed. Cosmetic changes will naturally occur if you seek out and adopt a fitness plan that you enjoy and take to heart. Nutritional Fitness: Losing fat in the legs will improve your appearance and your health. Carrying too much fat slows you down and increases your risk of heart disease and diabetes. A weight-loss goal of 1 to 2 pounds a week is reasonable, which means in 30 days you can lose 4 to 8 pounds. Losing leg fat in 30 days requires a plan of healthy eating, cardiovascular workouts and leg toning exercises. Run for God. A 12 week program that consist of a weekly bible study and running. We will have a men s and women s classes. Be in prayer about participating in this awesome ministry. Coming early 2014.
