INTRODUCTION: Winfrey s Aura, B G Books And Publishing 2006 (Version 1.03) Why did you write this book? I am glad that the question was asked. I'm writing this book out of respect for some of the special people I know, and I believe they deserve special recognition. Also, I want it to be known that a lot of the good things I've learned in my life have helped me through the years came to me by my association with good and special people. Many of the great things I've learned through the years have changed the course of my life came to me through my special association with people who care about the welfare of others. I have a belief, and I ve heard it said by others, that, whatever you can do to help your fellow man to enhance his or her life; you should try and do it. Most of the time it always ends up being a good thing. You never know what great things can develop out of a good relationship with caring people and through constant associations with great people. I think that being around good people and a positive environment will normally produce great things. I must mention that I also believe that just the opposite may apply if you are subjected to a negative environment and people who detract as opposed to enhance. I have noticed that some people appear to only search for the worst in each other and are always at war over trivial things. In an environment such as this, you may find it very difficult to be positive, or even make it through the day with a positive attitude. These people with their negative attitudes, have the ability to affect the way your day progresses. Through association you may find that you have become negative without trying; and if you're not careful, you can become one of these people. I said all of that to say this: In my growing up years, I was blessed to be around good and positive people. I consider myself very fortunate to have been put in the right place at the right time. In my military duties, I had the opportunity to work with many General Officers and their staff, which included political analysts, speech writers, briefers, foreigner dignitaries, and many other very sharp people who worked together to come up with critical procedures to solve great problems, and they did this as a team by working together. I noticed that most of the time they never knew who solved the problem because it was a joint effort. They were very educated and full of knowledge and common sense--some may call it mother wit. All these things had an effect on me and I am sure it had a bearing on the way I went in life. One of the major highlights in my life was Mr. Vernon Winfrey. I wrote of this experience in my first book Instruction For Survival And Serendipity.

Page II When I was a young lady, growing up in the streets of East Nashville, TN. I did not know exactly where I wanted to go or how to get started, even at times when I thought that I knew where I wanted to go. But I knew I wanted to be like other successful people. I wanted to grow up and build a beautiful home, and raise smart children who would grow up and become professors, doctors, and lawyers, or other professional types who we could all be proud of. Also I wanted a beautiful husband who could help us grow as a strong family where we could share our love with each other and live a long and wonderful life. But at the time, I did not have a lot of good role models to follow. But Mr. Winfrey was someone who gained my respect. He seemed to always be on a solid foundation. I noticed that he was always helpful when someone came to him and asked for advice. The counsel he gave was always sound and credible; He always seemed to be on a solid foundation when he talked. Mr. Winfrey was one of the local city council members for the city of Nashville, TN. He always appeared to have the correct information to assist people who came to him seeking his counsel. He always seemed to be very forthcoming and never stingy when people asked for help. I always paid close attention when I was around Mr. Winfrey because he always seemed to know the answer to most people s problem. Even when he was busy cutting hair in his barbershop, he was able to minister and advise others. He was never a man of hate, never talked down to anyone, or acted like he wanted to do any harm to anyone. He was always open and up front with his methods. Mr. Winfrey always talked like he wanted to help people. He was never sneaky or deceitful. I remember the tongue-lashing I received the last time I went begging for money from Mr. Winfrey. He told me he was going to give me money for the last time. He Said, This is the last 50 cents that you will get from me. I also remember him shouting after me as I ran away, Do you hear me? You get back in school and get yourself a job, and you can be somebody! Those words profoundly stuck with me because I knew those instructions were good. I ve found a lot of times when we hear good instructions that we try to resist them. My Bible tells me that the time will come when man will not endure sound doctrine. In other words, fools will turn away from the truth and resist good teaching. I knew in my heart that I had to start doing something for myself.

Page III I started to search to see what I could do. One of the first things that I tried was to become a policewoman. I got the application from the police department personnel, then I looked at the fact that I may have to be walking a beat out there on a dark and dangerous street by myself, so I let that go. Next, I decided that working for the FBI may be what I needed. But when the agent came to my home and showed me a movie related to the kind of work that I would be doing, I was turned totally off. Completely. But the words Mr. Winfrey had said to me were still pushing me, and I knew I could not give up. I continued my quest to either becoming a fire person or entering the military. I started training to pass the fireman s examination. And at the same time I completed the paperwork to become a soldier with the U.S. Army. Although I passed the examination to become a fire person I became concerned that I may be the only female fire person on the force, so I decided to go into the U.S. Army and become a soldier and complete my education. I was all set to go; but just before I was scheduled to leave home, my good fortune kicked in, and Satan was on his job and allowed me to win a large sum of money. Now, I failed to see any need to go in the Army; now I had money. Thank God, for Jesus was on my side, and he had better plans for me. This money was not enough to make me rich, but just enough for me to have a shopping spree and pay off a few of my bills. Now, I was totally turned off to go into the military, so I telephone my recruiter and told him that I would not be going. He told me that if I did not go that I was going to jail for breach of my contract. I did not know whether he was being completely truthful because I had not signed a contract at that time. Back then, I did not have any idea what a contract looked like so, I said OK. This was surely the crossroad that changed my life for the better because; if I had known the truth concerning my sign-on-contract I surely would not have went into the Army. I thank God for taking care of me. I entered the military service and became a great soldier I was able to help myself as well as many others. I was able to receive a great education and learned lots of great things about the world in which I was living. I stayed in the military more than 22 years. I was able to work with many great people and many decisions that impacted the way soldiers were trained and supported, then and in the future. I was able to find that wonderful husband, and God blessed us with two wonderful girls. At the writing of this book, my eldest is now a practicing physician, and our youngest is attending a local university working in specialized training in the medical area of studies. Our desire is that my girls may be able to work together in the same medical facility in the coming years. I have to credit the great push that I got early off in life from Mr. Winfrey. I am surely blessed because of that great push. I said all of that to give to you a foundation as why I love to talk about Mr. Winfrey.

Page IV Now, Mr. Winfrey did not just start out yesterday; he came through hard times just like many of us. He spent time in the military services. I think the time he spent in the military has placed a warm spot in his heart for the men and women who serve in the military. I remember when I was able to get Mr. Winfrey to go out to the local military installation at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, and see about those soldiers coming home from war and to speak with the ones leaving out to go into a war zone. Mr. Winfrey wanted to boost their spirit. The last visit we had he spent most of the day visiting and encouraging the soldiers. But when the media showed up, attempting to interview him, he avoided them. He was not looking for notoriety, he was there to encourage the soldiers and let them know we were proud of them and the job that they were doing. He said that he was only there to bless the soldiers and have a nice lunch with them. Today, Mr. Winfrey still works in his barbershop I doubt he makes very much money doing this, but this is the kind of person he is. I suspect that he does not have to do it, but he does it to keep active and continue to give back to the community as he has always done. When I go by his shop, I hear him as he still shares his advise and still try to inspire the young men and women who may need his help in seeking which way they should proceed in life. Mr. Winfrey has been a great example for many. The great daughter he reared, Ms. Oprah Winfrey, which have become the greatest talk show person ever on our nationwide networks. I am sure that Mr. Winfrey s teaching had a direct relationship with her success. I see this as solid testimony of the effects of association with great people who try to help others to do a great work. Mr. Winfrey, as I remember Him, has always stood up for doing the right thing, even if it was not good for him. He was one that never pointed fingers or shift the blame when things do not go right. That is one reason why I have so much respect for this man. I had to go through some examples in this book to allow for the full appreciation of his life. I have picked out some things that I want to share with the world so that they may better understand this man, Mr. Vernon Winfrey. Most of the time, when people see Mr. Winfrey, they see Oprah, and they do not see him. This statement is not intended to take anything away from Oprah, for She is great in her own right. All I want is that the world will see and recognize the results of having a great foundation to start from. The old cliché nothing from nothing leaves nothing may be true. Mr. Winfrey is a great man in his own right, and he deserves this spotlight, which I am attempting to put on him during this writing. This book is entitled Winfrey s Aura, because the stories in this book are filled with great examples and living proof of the strong effects of Winfrey s aura. Mr. Winfrey said, this is the last 50 cents that you will get from me, get back in school so you can get a job.

Page V I want you to know as you read this book that Mr. Winfrey approved all that is written in the book. Also keep in mind that these are only the highlights of Mr. Winfrey s great life. My mission is to give credit where it is due and to let the world know that there is always hope when there are people in the world who care about the welfare of others. I also hope that this book will inspire others to try and do good deeds and provide for the raising of strong family ties as well as helping friends and those who may be in need. Now that you know why I wrote this book, please allow me to explain why I gave it such a special name. I believe the word Aura is very special and is reserved for special people. The word Aura can be defined as an energy field that is a luminous radiation that comes from a living being. A distinctive but intangible quality, that appears to surround a person. Also, it can be described as an energy field that appears to emanate or radiate from an active person or being. This book is an aura for the soul, letting you discover Inspiring, motivating and gravitating inspirational ways to live a better life through helping others. This book provides some basic fundamentals for a greater understanding of your life. It is down to earth and practical. This book should provoke you to seek better strategies in how to deal with everyday events. Winfrey s Aura speaks to men, women, young and old, in short all walks of life. With that said, I hope you enjoy this Great Book. So let s get started; and always remember that the only time you should look DOWN on a person is when you are lifting them UP.
