Love Lifted Me Recovery Ministries John 14:7-19 http://www.loveliftedmerecovery.com 7-8. "If you had KNOWN Me, you would have KNOWN My Father also; and from now on you KNOW Him and have seen Him." Philip said to Him, "Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us." I John 5:20 "And we know that the of has come, and has given us an, that we may who is true, and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the and life." Jeremiah 9:23-24 "Thus says the Lord, 'Let not a wise man boast of his wisdom, and let not a mighty man boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches; but let him who boasts boast of this, that he and Me, that I am the who exercises loving kindness, justice, and righteousness on earth; for I in these things,' declares the Lord." Proverbs 9:10 "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of, and the of the Holy One is." Definition: "If you had KNOWN Me, you would have known My Father also" -- Jesus is saying, "Look at Me, and you will see God!" If He were not TRULY God, He would be either a liar or a crazy man to say such a thing! Hebrews 1:3 calls Jesus the "exact representation" or "express image" of God, meaning that if you could take a photograph of God, He would look just like Jesus. In other words, there is nothing about God that you cannot see and learn about by looking at Jesus. Ephesians 1:17-18 "That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and in the of ; the eyes of your understanding being ; that you may what is the hope of His calling..." Hebrews 1:1-3 "God, who at various times and in different ways spoke in times past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us His, whom He has appointed heir of all things, whom also He made the ; who being the brightness of His glory and the express of His person, and all things by the of His, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high." 9-11. Jesus said to him, "Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has SEEN Me has SEEN the Father; so how can you say, 'Show us the Father'? Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works. Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves." John 1:1 "In the beginning was the, and the Word was with God, and the was." II Corinthians 5:19 "That is, that was Christ reconciling the world to, not imputing their trespasses to them..." I John 1:1-3 "That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have with our, which we have upon, and our have handled, concerning the of life -- the life was manifested, and we have, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was the Father and was manifested to us -- that which

we have and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the and with His Jesus Christ." Definition: "The FATHER who DWELLS IN Me" -- Jesus also said, "I am in the Father and the Father in Me" and "He who has seen Me has seen the Father" - ALL statements which indicate that Jesus the Son is EQUAL to God the Father. The Bible tells us over and over again that we worship ONE GOD, but that He exists in THREE persons: the FATHER, the SON, and the HOLY SPIRIT. Starting in the very first chapter of the Bible, God refers to Himself as "Us" and "Our," then switches back to "His" and "He." Compare Isaiah 48:12-16 with Rev. 1:8,11,17-18. The same One who "laid the foundation of the earth and stretched out the heavens" is also the One who says "I was DEAD and now I am ALIVE forevermore!" Jesus Christ is the "Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End." Genesis 1:26-27 "Then God said, 'Let make man in image, according to likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth. So God created man in own ; in the of created him; male and female created them." Read Isaiah 48:12-16 (Verses 12-13) "Listen to Me, O Jacob, and Israel, My called: I am He, I am the, I am also the. Indeed My has laid the of the earth, and My right hand has stretched out the." (Verse 16) "Come near to Me, hear this: I have not spoken in secret from the ; from the time that it was, I was there. And now the Lord and His have sent." (Here are ALL THREE persons of the GODHEAD mentioned together in the Old Testament!! Jesus is speaking, and He says that God and the Holy Spirit have SENT HIM). Revelation 1:8,11,17b-18 "'I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,' says the Lord, 'Who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.' "'I am the Alpha and the Omega, the and the.'" (Verses 17b-18) "Do not be afraid; I am the and the. I am He who lives, and was, and behold, I am forevermore. Amen. And I have the Keys of Hades and of Death." 12-14. Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and GREATER WORKS than these he will do, because I go to My Father. And whatever you ASK in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it. John 5:20 "For the loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself does; and He will show Him works than these, that you may marvel." John 16:23 "And in that day you shall ask Me nothing. Truly, truly, I say to you, whatever you ask the in My, He will give to you." Definition: "GREATER WORKS than these he will do" -- How can the works we do as Christians, Believers in Christ, be GREATER than the works Jesus Himself did? We will not do works that are greater in power, or greater in scope, or that have greater meaning, but as hundreds of thousands, even millions of Believers, over two thousand years or more, we will do works greater in NUMBER than Jesus did. Any works we

do, or fruit we bear, is only by the power of the Living Christ in us, anyway - we can do nothing by our own power! John 15:4-5 & 8 "Abide in, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I am the, you are the. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much ; for Me you can do." "By this My Father is, that you bear much ; so you will be My disciples." 15. If you LOVE Me, KEEP My commandments. Colossians 1:10 "That you may have a walk of the Lord, fully Him, being fruitful in every work." Deuteronomy 10:12-13 "...what does the Lord require of you, but to fear (obey, reverence) the Lord, to walk in all His, and to the Lord your God with all your, with all your, to the commandments of the Lord, and His statutes which I am commanding you today for YOUR GOOD." Definition: "If you LOVE Me, keep My commandments" -- Our incentive for OBEYING GOD and living a HOLY LIFE is to please the Lord, and to serve Him out of LOVE. It pleases God when we live in holiness and obedience. However, the flip side of the coin is that the blessings of God will not and cannot come into our lives if we are disobedient. All the wonderful promises of God's word are CONDITIONAL to our OBEDIENCE to His commandments. Just before Jesus said this, He said, "GREATER WORKS than these he will do, because I go to My Father. And whatever you ASK in My name, that I will do." You cannot "claim" those promises, and expect to have your prayers answered if you are not keeping Jesus' commandments. Your prayers are hindered by your disobedience or by unconfessed sin in your life. I John 5:2-3 "By this we know that we the children of God, when we God and His. For this is the of God, that we His. And His commandments are not burdensome." 16-17. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. John 14:25-26 "These things I have spoken to you while being present with you. But the, the, whom the Father will send in My name, will you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you." Definition: "He will give you ANOTHER HELPER - Some versions say "Comforter," but there is really no one English word that can describe the meaning of the Greek word, which is Parakletos. In the English dictionary, there is a word "Paraclete" which means Holy Spirit, but it is obviously just an anglicized version of the Greek word. The dictionary says "advocate, intercessor," but the actual meaning of the Greek word is "one who comes alongside to help." Definition: "He dwells WITH you, and will be IN YOU" -- Jesus is speaking here to the disciples at the Last Supper, BEFORE He has gone to the cross, BEFORE His resurrection, and BEFORE the Day of Pentecost. At this time, the Holy Spirit was only

WITH the disciples, but after the Day of Pentecost came, the Holy Spirit would be IN all Believers in Jesus. John 7:38-39 "Jesus said, "He who in Me, as the scripture has said, out of his will flow rivers of living water. But this He spoke concerning the, whom those in would ; for the was not yet, because Jesus was not yet glorified." Definition: "JESUS was not yet GLORIFIED" -- Jesus was speaking about His death and resurrection, which at this point, was yet in the future. On the Day of Pentecost, AFTER Jesus was "glorified" by His resurrection and ascension to heaven, the Holy Spirit was GIVEN and continues to be given to ALL WHO BELIEVE in Him. 18-19. I will not leave you ORPHANS; I will come to you. A little while longer, and the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me. Because I live, you will live also. Galatians 3:26 "For you are all of God through in." Galatians 4:6 "And because you are, God has forth the of His into your, crying out, 'Abba, Father!'" Definition: "Sent the Spirit of His Son into your HEARTS, crying out, 'Abba, Father!'" - The Holy Spirit is here called "the Spirit of His Son". This is how Jesus can say, "I will come to you," because He will come in the form of the Holy Spirit. There are many places where the Holy Spirit is called the Spirit of Christ. When Jesus said, "He will give you another Helper," the Greek word for "another" means "one of exactly the same kind." Many people find it difficult to understand the triune Godhead: how God says He is one God, but in three persons, and how God can be more than one place at a time. How can Jesus, through the Holy Spirit, live in EVERY Believer on earth, and yet still be seated at the right hand of the Father in heaven? How can we expect to understand and explain the infinite God with our finite minds? It is something we must accept by faith. All of the pseudo-christian cults we have today were begun by someone who could not accept or understand the idea of a "Trinity" or triune God, so they rejected God's truth, and started a religion of their own. Romans 8:9 "But you are not in the flesh but in the, if indeed the of dwells in you. Now if anyone does have the of, he is not His (does not belong to Him)." Romans 8:11 "But if the of Him who raised Jesus from the dead in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His who in you." Romans 8:16 "The Himself bears witness with our that we are of God." Definition: "HE IS NOT HIS" -- Romans 8:9 says there is no such thing as a Christian who does not have the Holy Spirit living (dwelling) inside of him. You CANNOT BE a Christian, you CANNOT BE SAVED, and NOT have the Holy Spirit IN YOU, because it says you are "not His" if you don't have His Spirit in you. You are the "temple" of the Holy Spirit. I Corinthians 6:17 & 19 "But he who is to the Lord is one with Him." "Or do you not know that your is the

of the, who is you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?"
