THE APPARITIONS OF THE GUARDIAN ANGEL OF PORTUGAL 2016 marks the 100 th anniversary of the Apparitions of the Angel of Peace to the Three Shepherd Children of Fatima The angel who appeared to the three shepherd children of Fatima called himself the Angel of Peace and the Angel of Portugal. The prayers he taught them are simple in structure and profound in depth. To a world poor and in needy in faith and charity, these prayers stress ancient truths of our Holy Catholic Church, especially concerning the Holy Eucharist. Recite these prayers o en to make reparation to Our dear Lord in the Most Blessed Sacrament: The Pardon Prayer My God, I believe, I adore, I hope, and I love Thee! I beg pardon for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not hope, and do not love Thee. (3 times) The Angel s Prayer With the Blessed Sacrament suspended in the air, the angel at Fatima prostrated himself, and recited the following prayer: O Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Ghost, I adore Thee profoundly, and I offer Thee the Most Precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in all the tabernacles of the world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges and indifferences by which He is offended. And by the infinite merits of His most Sacred Heart and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg the conversion of poor sinners. The Angel of Portugal at Fátima By Fr. William Wagner, ORC Of Opus Sanctorum Angelorum This little book retells the angel s lessons to the three shepherd children, and how they, following his guidance, grew in a short time to heroic sanctity. Thus, well prepared for the Blessed Virgin s coming at Fatima, they convincingly convey her message to those who have ears to hear. You, too, can enter this angelic school, gain new depths in your spiritual life and so find peace, joy and purpose by conforming your life to God s salvific plan. Extraordinary Jubilee Holy Year of Mercy December 8, 2015 -- November 20, 2016 POPE FRANCIS SPECIAL PRAYER FOR THE YEAR OF MERCY Lord Jesus Christ, you have taught us to be merciful like the heavenly Father, and have told us that whoever sees you sees Him. Show us your face and we will be saved. Your loving gaze freed Zacchaeus and Ma hew from being enslaved by money; the adulteress and Magdalene from seeking happiness only in created things; made Peter weep a er his betrayal, and assured Paradise to the repentant thief. Let us hear, as if addressed to each one of us, the words that you spoke to the Samaritan woman: If you knew the gi of God! You are the visible face of the invisible Father, of the God who manifests his power above all by forgiveness and mercy: let the Church be your visible face in the world, its Lord risen and glorified. You willed that your ministers would also be clothed in weakness in order that they may feel compassion for those in ignorance and error: let everyone who approaches them feel sought a er, loved, and forgiven by God. Send your Spirit and consecrate every one of us with its anointing, so that the Jubilee of Mercy may be a year of grace from the Lord, and your Church, with renewed enthusiasm, may bring good news to the poor, proclaim liberty to captives and the oppressed, and restore sight to the blind. We ask this through the intercession of Mary, Mother of Mercy, you who live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit for ever and ever. Amen. MISSION SUNDAY Next Weekend, September 11, there will be a second collection for Mission Sunday. Your generous support is greatly appreciated. BENEFACTORS NEEDED! Benefactors are needed to help pay for the cleaning and renovations to the Church Hall as well as the Rectory. If interested in helping, please contact Fr. Miara at the Rectory. Your generosity will be much appreciated! The Most Holy Rosary Whatever you ask through the Rosary will be granted. --The Blessed Mother to St. Dominic Join us for the recitation of the Holy Rosary every weekday at 11:55 a.m. and 5:20 p.m. and on Saturday at 12:35 p.m. and Sunday at 2:10 p.m. Our Lady revealed fi een promises to St. Dominic (the Saint to whom the Rosary was first given in the 12 th century) and later to Blessed Alan de la Roche (who reignited devotion to the Rosary in the 15 th century) for those who recite the Holy Rosary. We will print one each week as an inspiration to practice this most powerful devotion! Promise #4 It will cause good works to flourish; it will obtain for souls the abundant mercy of God; it will withdraw the hearts of men from the love of the world and its vanities, and will lift them to the desire for Eternal Things. Oh, that souls would sanctify themselves by this means.. This promise stresses the need not only to avoid sin but also to live and grow in virtue. STATUE OF OUR LADY OF FATIMA Next year marks the Centennial of the Apparitions of Our Lady at Fatima. Beginning in October Holy Innocents will have devotions to Our Lady of Fatima on the 13 th of the month from May to October including a candlelight procession. 2000 HAIL MARYS The next devotion of the 2000 Hail Marys will take place this Saturday, September 10 beginning at 7:00 a.m. and concluding with the 4:00 p.m. Vigil Mass. Holy Mass will also be celebrated at 12 noon in English and the usual 1:00 p.m. Mass in Latin. Envelope System In order to maintain accurate records of your contributions, we are in the process of creating a new database and, thus, we request all parishioners to fill out a Parish Registration Form located in the vestibule and return to the Rectory Office or the Collection Basket as soon as possible. This will enable us to verify your donations should it be necessary for tax purposes. Thank you for your cooperation!

The Shrine to the Unborn Blessed by Cardinal O Connor on December 28, 1993 The Shrine is dedicated in Memory of the Children Who Have Died Unborn We invite you to name your child(ren) and provide the opportunity to have your babyʹs name inscribed in our Book of Lifeʺ. Often children who have died before birth have no grave or headstone, and sometimes not even a name. At The Church of The Holy Innocents, we invite you to name your child(ren) and to have the opportunity to have your baby's name inscribed in our "BOOK OF LIFE". Here, a candle is always lit in their memory. All day long people stop to pray. On the first Monday of every month, our 12:15pm Mass is celebrated in honor of these children and for the comfort of their families. We pray that you will find peace in knowing that your child(ren) will be remembered at the Shrine and honored by all who pray here. We will inscribe the names of babies who have died before and at birth in our Book of Life, and as always, we invite you to visit the Shrine if you are in New York City.
