CONNECTIONS from your Pastor s Heart Join Jesus in the Grand Adventure of Changing Our World! Jesus began His earthly ministry by preaching in the villages surrounding the Sea of Galilee. One morning Jesus was teaching on the shore of Galilee s Sea when he encountered Simon Peter. Peter had fished all night and caught nothing. The big fisherman was cleaning his empty nets when Jesus asked Peter to turn his boat into a pulpit. Peter agreed and rowed Jesus into the right place and made his boat a platform for proclaiming the Messiah s message. Jesus explained to His seaside congregation the compelling truth of God s love, purpose and calling for their lives. When the message was complete, Jesus rewarded Peter by saying, Move your boat out to the deep water, and you will catch a lot of fish. I will move you from empty to full. Peter protested but complied, and he caught so many fish that their weight nearly sank his boat! Jesus then pulled Peter into His net when He invited, Follow Me, and I will make you a fisher of men. Essentially, Jesus was saying, I want to change your world and make you a world-changer. In 1983, a brilliant young man named Steve Jobs created a new type of computer. Steve was convinced that he needed help with the marketing of this game-changing device. He contacted John Sculley, the CEO of Pepsi. Sculley was a master marketer who rejuvenated Pepsi and guided it to new heights. Jobs met with Sculley and famously invited him to stop wasting your life selling sugar water and join me so that we can change the world. Sculley accepted the invitation and they changed our world through Apple, which is now the world s largest corporation with a value exceeding $800 billion. King Jesus has a better invitation than Mr. Jobs. He wants to change your world and then use you to change the world of others. So let s join Jesus grand adventure by: (1) Praying fervently for Seekers to connect with the Savior. (2) Talking frequently to people about Jesus. (3) Giving generously to support ministries that proclaim the Gospel.
