Unleash The Gospel Advent Reflection Sessions It s hard to believe but Advent is only a few weeks away and we are excited to share with you an opportunity to grow stronger in friendship as we journey together as a community toward Bethlehem and meeting Jesus; we will do this through Mary and a program from Ascension called Rejoice! You will get to know Mary in a personal way as she shines light on what s happening in your life, then together, the two of you, will get ready for her Son at Christmas. Each day during Advent, you will read from the Rejoice! Advent Meditations with Mary Journal. The journal offers more than insights and information about Mary s life- it offers an opportunity for you to encounter Mary in the quiet of her heart. The introductory session will be co-hosted by campus ministry at ASCS & MOPS (Mother of Preschoolers) on Friday, November 30th at Saint John Neumann. You are then invited you to sign up for our two accompanying sessions to see how God is speaking to you this season. These sessions are designed so you may participate regardless of how much or little time you have to prepare. Other reasons to attend: Hot cider, cocoa, coffee will be served Receive blessings and grace as you grow in your relationship with our Blessed Mother Gift yourself with a time of peace and interior stillness Best of all, grant yourself the opportunity to be in fellowship with other families of faith from All Saints Initial Advent Reflection Session Friday, November 30th 9-11:00 a.m. at Saint John Neumann Accompanying Sessions Thursday, December 13th 8:15-9:00 a.m. at All Saints Catholic School library Thursday, December 20th 8:15-9:00 a.m. at All Saints Catholic School library If you can t join us for the sessions, but would still like to participate you may do so by ordering the Rejoice! Advent Meditations with Mary Journal. See the link below. All Saints Advent Service Project No-Sew Fleece Blanket Event November 18, 2018 Noon-2 pm ALL families are welcome to cozy up with us to create fuzzy fleece blankets that will provide comfort to a child in need. No sewing required! Not only will we be practicing the virtue of charity, but this is also a great opportunity to work with other families in our school. The event will be held at All Saints Catholic School. We will have music and a hot chocolate bar for the kids. All blankets will be donated to The Children s Center in Detroit. Your family can purchase a no-sew blanket kit from us for $15, or you are welcome to bring your own! Please sign up online at www.allsaintscs.com/blanket For questions, contact kbauman@allsaintscs.com or tgibb@allsaintscs.com. November Virtue: Courtesy What does a triathlon have to do with the Communion of Saints? Fr. Mike Schmitz draws parallels between his experience of completing a triathlon and the believer s experience of journeying to heaven. In our spiritual race, those who have gone before us are encouraging us at every turn. Fr. Mike reminds us that if we find ourselves struggling in this journey, we should remember that we are surrounded by a cloud of witnesses that is more impressive than a stadium filled with sports fans. Check out this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=irgz7-hrwms&t=3s To RSVP, sign up for childcare, and/or order your journal please visit www.allsaintscs.com/reflection. Deadline is November 19th to ensure enough time for the journals to arrive. www.allsaintscs.com www.facebook.com/allsaintscs

Friendship Virtue Activity Recently our 3rd and 7th graders partnered for a virtue-based activity on friendship. Students started by praying together the Act of Charity, then watched a short video on friendship, and finally partnered up to discuss how to be a good friend to each other, to others at home and school, and completed a heart project where they shared these important traits and qualities. Catholic Scouts Share Faith Catholic Scouts sang, danced, and learned about their faith on Saturday as part of a Catholic Scouting Medal Retreat for Girls hosted at All Saints. About 60 Girl Scouts and American Heritage Girls ranging in age from kindergarten to high school attended the event. The day s schedule included Mass at Resurrection Parish and the opportunity to make crafts, play games, and participate in a service project. Attendees decorated and assembled snack packs, which the Song and Spirit Institute collected for distribution to local children in need. The day s activities focused on requirements for the scouts to earn Catholic medals under the guidance of CYO Scouting at the Archdiocese of Detroit. Throughout the day, the girls completed activities centered on the role faith plays in their lives. The sessions highlighted God s love for everyone, the significance of families in nurturing faith, the importance of prayer, and how Mary, the Mother of God, and the saints serve as role models for young people. After completing all of their requirements, the Scouts will receive their Catholic medals at a Mass in May 2019. Grade Level Happenings Last Thursday, our entire school community celebrated our namesake day - All Saints Day! In the morning, students enjoyed a special treat (doughnut) and they received a prayer card, medal, and sticker of their classroom saint. Prior to Mass, prayer buddies visited classrooms and they made placemats for the Meals On Wheels program to be used at Thanksgiving time. What an amazing day it was... Last Monday, Greek city-states processed through the hall, carrying banners representing their groups. The people dressed in togas and robes, with wreaths adorning their heads gathered to cheer their teams, as the Olympic games began. This scene didn t just happen in Ancient Greece, our school recently hosted a re-enactment of its own. Sixth graders experienced a morning in the life of Ancient Greeks. The festivities capped several weeks of studying the ancient culture. Our 8th grade students created models of a Catholic church in collaborative groups to help with their studies about items used at Mass and liturgies. Be sure to check out the level of detail as they are all on display in the main hallway at school. www.allsaintscs.com www.facebook.com/allsaintscs

Halloween Fun... Our student body enjoyed another Happy Halloween on last Wednesday! Especially our world-famous Halloween Parade (K-3) where our 4th-8th grade students lined the hallway to welcome all of the dressed-up students! www.allsaintscs.com www.facebook.com/allsaintscs
