Also, everyone please pass the red fellowship pad down the pew and back again noticing those with whom you are worshiping today. Prayer Cards are in the pew racks. Please place cards in the basket in front of the pulpit during the Passing of the Peace. Our church is handicapped accessible. There is an area set aside for wheelchairs on the left front section of the theater-type seats we call the Amen Section. Thank you, Elliot Harper, for being our liturgist this morning. Greeters this Sunday are Brian and Mary Ann McDonald. *Indicates an invitation to stand, if you are able. INTROIT: This Joyful Eastertide harm. by Charles Wood, 1902 CALL TO WORSHIP L: The bread of life opens our eyes. P: The word of life opens our ears. L: The risen one shows us God s own brokenness, P: and by those wounds we are healed. L: Peace be with you. Luke 24:36 P: And also with you. OPENING PRAYER *HYMN #234 Come, You Faithful, Raise the Strain 2

*CALL TO CONFESSION The One who calls us to repent, hears us. In trust that our Creator knows us through and through, let us open our hearts to the healing of God s forgiveness. *PRAYER OF CONFESSION (in unison) Good and gracious God, we are creatures of dust, ignorant of your revelation, misunderstanding your life, death, and resurrection among us, needing forgiveness. We repent of our failure to give as you have given to us. We beg your mercy for our fallen world. We seek your Word, that we may live with the faith of Jesus. Be our solace in this life and always. We ask this as your own children, holy and incomplete. Forgive us and lead us. Amen. *KYRIE ELEISON (Lord, Have Mercy) Lord, have mercy upon us. Christ, have mercy upon us. Lord, have mercy upon us. *ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS In the name of God, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, your plea for absolution has been heard. God s promises are sure: your sins are forgiven. Peace be with you. *SHARING GOD S PEACE PROCLAIMING GOD S WORD SCRIPTURE READING New Testament Acts 3:12-19 Pew Bible page 113 New Testament Luke 24:36-48 Pew Bible page 85 3

This is the word of the Lord. Thanks be to God! GOD S WORD FOR THE CHILDREN (After the Children s Time, those younger than first grade may go upstairs with our attendants. Because we value children in our worship service, these younger ones are also welcome to stay with their family during the service at the family s discretion.) *HYMN I Danced in the Morning Verse: They cut me down and I lept up high; I am the life that will never, never die; I ll live in you if you ll live in me: I am the Lord of the Dance, said He. Refrain: Dance, then wherever you may be; I am the Lord of the Dance, said he, And I ll lead you all, wherever you may be, And I ll lead you all in the dance, said He. GOD S WORD FOR OUR LIVES If You Know Better, Do Better Rev. Dr. Peter A. Vial RESPONDING TO THE GOOD NEWS *HYMN #236 The Strife Is O er THE LORD S PRAYER Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen 4

Great Day of Service April 28, 2018 Sponsored by DMPC & HTLC, this is an opportunity for us to get our hands dirty as we share Christ s love by serving others.
