Qur anic & Prophetic Nurturing Program Spring of the Heart: Surah Al Furqan ( الفرقان (سورة Class 22 Date: 21 February 2019 / 16 Jamad Al Thani 1440 Introduction Adam السالم) (عليه was taught everything but then he ate from the tree. The first test with knowledge is falling into sins, but when a person repents and returns back to Allah (جل جلاله) then his state will be better. Afterwards he was on the earth and was nurtured with guidance. As long as we re on the earth, there will always be guidance. The one with most courage after the Prophet (ﷺ) was Abu Bakr هللا عنه).(رضي He faced situations with firmness of the heart and was a good role model to the Companions. When they were in the cave, he and the Prophet (ﷺ) could see the feet of the disbelievers إ ذ ( 40: said Surah At Tawbah (ﷺ) near them, though he was not afraid, but sad. The Prophet رضي and Abu Bakr صلى للا عليه وسلم (When they (Muhammad ) ه م ا ف ي الغ ار إ ذ ي ق ول ل ص اح ب ه ل ت حز ن إ ن للا م ع ن ا "Be not :(رضي للا عنه said to his companion (Abu Bakr (صلى للا عليه وسلم ( he were in the cave, ( للا عنه sad (or afraid), surely Allah is with us."). This shows how the Prophet (ﷺ) greatly sensed the feeling of his friend being sad though most people in that situation would be fearful, subhan Allah. Abu Bakr هللا عنه) (رضي not panicking, but he felt sad for his friend the Prophet (ﷺ) to be in that position, subhan Allah. When the Prophet (ﷺ) died, Abu Bakr هللا عنه) (رضي remained firm and said, if anyone worshipped Mohammed, then Mohammed has died, and whoever worships Allah then He is و م ا م ح مد إ ل ر س ول ق د ( 144: the Ever-Living Who never dies and he recited the ayah, Surah Al Imran (خ ل ت م ن ق بل ه الر س ل أ ف إ ن مات أ و ق ت ل انق ل بت م ع ل ى أ عق اب ك م و م ن ي نق ل ب ع ل ى ع ق ب يه ف ل ن ي ض ر للا ش يئ ا و س ي جز ي للا الشاك ر ين (Muhammad ( (صلى للا عليه وسلم is no more than a Messenger, and indeed (many) Messengers have passed away before him. If he dies or is killed, will you then turn back on your heels (as disbelievers)? And he who turns back on his heels, not the least harm will he do to Allah; and Allah will give reward to those who are grateful.). Abu Bakr ( هللا عنه (رضي will enter paradise alone because he s an ummah one nation by himself, subhan Allah. 1 P a g e

Ayah 30 و ق ال الرس ول ي ا ر ب إ ن ق وم ي اتخ ذ وا ه ذ ا الق رآن م هج ور ا And the Messenger (Muhammad (صلى للا عليه وسلم will say: "O my Lord! Verily, my people deserted this Qur'an (neither listened to it, nor acted on its laws and teachings). Word Meaning و ق ال الر س ول And the Messenger (ﷺ) said ي ا ر ب O my Rabb verily my people have taken إ ن ق و م ي ا ت ذ وا this Quran as abandoned ه ذ ا ال ق ر آن م ه ج ور ا May Allah (جل جلاله) make this Quran a spring of our heart and not something that s deserted and abandoned. Every ayah of the Quran should move us and the best way to express our feelings is with dua. We don t want to be people who leave this Quran. In the upcoming ayat, it s about the Quran and there are enemies. Those who underestimate the Messenger (ﷺ) will underestimate the Quran. are different ways how people disregard and desert this Quran. There are those who belied the Quran from the start and said it s tales of the past, and there are those who went to the Quran and then left it. The action of disregarding the Quran is the same, but for a Muslim to leave it is worse than a disbeliever leaving it. Someone who used to be a student of knowledge who learned the Quran and memorized it, and then leaves it because of bad companions is worse, astaghfar Allah. will say:): in the previous (صلى للا عليه وسلم (And the Messenger (Muhammad ) و ق ال الرس ول ( ayat about the Messenger,(ﷺ) Allah (جل جلاله) commands him to say twice, but in this ayah the (جل جلاله) is inspired to say. What causes him to be inspired to say? It s from Allah (ﷺ) Messenger 2 P a g e

because when a person goes through different nurturing, he s then inspired to say, and that s furqan, subhan Allah. When we re teaching others and we see people are not listening or not applying it, what dua do we usually say? May Allah guide them, May Allah make me to say what will change them. by His Lordship in order to (جل جلاله) ("O my Lord!): He said, My Rabb and this calling Allah (ي ا ر ب ( (ﷺ) wants to be reformed by his Rabb. What did the Prophet (ﷺ) be nurtured. The Prophet say? (Verily, my people deserted this Qur'an (neither listened ) إ ن ق وم ي اتخ ذ وا ه ذ ا الق رآن م هج ور ا ( to it, nor acted on its laws and teachings).): he made a statement though it s not for himself, but for Allah.(جل جلاله) He complained for Allah (جل جلاله) that the people have deserted, forsaken, left, and abandoned the Quran. The Quran is Kallam Allah (جل جلاله) and when the Prophet (ﷺ) would say it, people would call him bewitched, liar, madmen, etc. This affected him but Allah (جل جلاله) consoled him. Here is a stronger feeling for Allah (جل جلاله) which is to complain for Him. Allah (جل جلاله) doesn t need that we feel sad for Him, but it s to direct all our feelings to Him and this is devotion. The Prophet (ﷺ) said my people so he feels responsible for them. People are supposed to respect and follow the Quran, but they disbelieved in it. He doesn t get angry for people rejecting him, but he feels angry for Allah (جل جلاله) and leaving His words. We get angry if people turn away from us but we don t feel upset when people turn away from the Quran, subhan Allah. So there is furqan in our feelings and complaints as well. If someone is always complaining then no one will listen to him. Ayah 31 و ك ذ ل ك ج ع لن ا ل ك ل ن ب ي ع د و ا من الم جر م ين و ك ف ى ب ر بك ه اد ي ا و ن ص ير ا Thus have We made for every Prophet an enemy among the Mujrimun (disbelievers, polytheists, criminals). But Sufficient is your Lord as a Guide and Helper. Word Meaning و ك ذ ل ك ج ع ل ن ا and like this We made 3 P a g e

for every prophet an enemy ل ك ل ن ب ي ع د و ا م ن from the criminals ال م ج ر م ي and sufficient is your Lord و ك ف ى ب ر بك a Guide and Grantor of Victory ه اد ي ا و ن ص ري ا (Thus have We made for every Prophet an enemy ) و ك ذ ل ك ج ع لن ا ل ك ل ن ب ي ع د و ا من الم جر م ين ( among the Mujrimun (disbelievers, polytheists, criminals).): who are the people who disturb us the most? Enemies and this can be anyone who drains us, pulls us down and decreases our faith. He will not say I m your enemy, but he could be someone near, and by his talk, he pulls us down and drains us. Some people will even use the Quran to bring us down, but the Quran is to bring us up, even if it s a warning, though when the intention is wrong then the Quran will not bring up the person. Anyone who s in the position of conveying the message will have enemies to bring him down because this is the plot of the shaitan. People are a fitna for each other, but the messengers have greater tests. They have real enemies and Allah (جل جلاله) gives much console to the messengers. The more challenge a person is facing in life because of his position, the more Allah (جل جلاله) will support him. Eisa السالم) (عليه was supported by the Angel Jibreel السالم) (عليه and Musa.(عليه السالم) was supported by Haroon (عليه السالم) This is sunnat Allah (جل جلاله) that anyone who s a messenger or conveying the message is to have enemies because to strike the messenger will affect those who are following him. What kind of enemies are they? Criminals م ين ),(الم جر the nurturing comes to them and they don t change. What is the wisdom of having falsehood? Falsehood causes the truth to be more visible, distinct and clear. A person will have more furqan and for prophets to have enemies is Sunnat Allah and all His actions are truth. If there are no enemies then a person will become relaxed and in his comfort zone. He will not be upgraded or do anything distinctive. When there are enemies, it gives a person sharp vision and understanding. A person will experience different names of Allah (جل جلاله) when looking at opposites. A person will not see the furqan if he doesn t see the other color or the other shade, subhan Allah. It s not about black or white anymore, or different colors of the rainbow, but it s different shades of one color. There are good choices, but which is the best, there are good 4 P a g e

friends, but which is the best. There are even different shades to the enemies, there are inner and outer enemies. (But Sufficient is your Lord as a Guide and Helper.): sufficient is ) و ك ف ى ب ر بك ه اد ي ا و ن ص ير ا ( Allah (جل جلاله) to guide you to what to do, to what dua to make, to what to say and what not say. When facing the enemy, a person needs a lot of guidance. Allah (جل جلاله) will guide to the right choices, right places and right times. And He s not only the One Who guides, but the One Who gives us victory over our enemies. When we make Allah (جل جلاله) sufficient for us then we ll be guided and have victory. How can we change ourselves for the better? Surah Al Furqan shows us that we are presented with choices every moment from morning to day. It causes us to be on the spot and Surah Al Furqan makes deciding easier. Surah Al Furqan teaches us when to speak to the people and when not to. The more we go into Surah Al Furqan, the more we re inspired to make dua. Our journey with the Quran is the most beautiful journey in our life so we don t need to rush to finish it. Surah Al Furqan teaches us to select the best from many good choices. There is wisdom in having falsehood and enemies in order to make furqan. May Allah (جل جلاله) grant us furqan. Ameen. 5 P a g e
