BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT GROUP Grieving is the painful experience of loss of a loved one. One way or other many of us have experienced loss which is still fresh in our heart and mind. More times than often, we are expected to be strong, taking care of others who are grieving or suffering from illness, or other life situations. What about us? St. Thomas Aquinas bereavement ministry invite you to set aside an hour of your time for yourself. Sharing the suffering that accompanies grieving, usually assists us in realizing how typical our experience is and how much the support of others helps us in recovering from our losses. We meet on the 1st Mondays of every month at 7:00pm and on the 3 rd Wednesdays of every month at 2:30pm at Aquinas Center. 2000 Flatbush Avenue. Please use the entrance through the School yard. Meet Our World Youth Day Candidates My name is Woodly Sainrose. I am a freshman at Long Island University Brooklyn, New York. I was the Vice President of the student body at my high school, Bishop Ford CCHS. I played football and was a captain on the track and field team at school. I took part in school activities that promoted the school such as open houses and marches. I was a part of the two time defending "A" Championship football team from 2012-2013 and competed in the Eastern State Track Championship and New Balance Indoor Nationals. I also Disc Jockey as a hobby. We are once again planning on taking some of our youth and Young adults to Word Youth Day in Poland in 2016. In order to attend youth must be between 16 and 35 by July 2016 and must be an active member of one of our parish ministries as well as meeting other parish and diocesan requirements. The cost for each youth and Young Adult to attend is $4160. We are also looking into an group trip to Ireland which is not included in the price at this time. This will depend on monies donated and raised for this trip. We are looking for sponsors who are willing to help sponsor or part-sponsor our youth. In the coming weeks you will be able to meet these candidate as their bio s and pictures will be place on our website. For more information please see Fr. Dwayne or contact him at the rectory I am a former member of the Vicariate of Black Catholic Concerns Ambassador Program and was named the Brooklyn Male Ambassador of 2014. I am currently a member of St. Thomas Aquinas' youth group, and regularly attend the 8:00 AM mass with my family. Due to my accomplishments in sports and my faith I was chosen by the DeSales production company to be filmed on "Active Catholics", which is a show that documents catholic people who are active in sports and in their faith. 2015 ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL The 2015 Annual Catholic Appeal begins with a mailing that many of our parishioners have received or will soon receive. This is a mailing from Bishop DiMarzio asking for a pledge to the 2015 Annual Catholic Appeal. The Appeal not only funds many of the operations of the Diocese of Brooklyn, it also funds services that are of great help to the ministries here at Saint Thomas Aquinas. This year, the theme of the Appeal is Share the Joy of the Gospel We are challenged as Catholics to build up God s kingdom here on earth. Your contribution to the 2015 Annual Catholic Appeal enables to diocese to uphold the Gospel message and build up the kingdom of God throughout Brooklyn and Queens. Please remember that God never forgets us. Even when we believe that our successes are self-made, it is the blessings that God has given to each of us that have helped us to get where we are. He is always giving to us. His grace is always there for us. One way that we can show our gratitude is by offering our generous financial support to our parish and our diocese. The gifts that we give enable ministries and services that touch thousands of lives. Our parish goal for the 2015 Annual Catholic Appeal is $57,716.00, With your support, we can reach and exceed this goal. Please answer Bishop DiMarzio s request and make a generous pledge. All pledges can be paid in ten monthly installments. Msgr. Brown is asking that if everyone made a small donation that we will reach our goal. Thank you in advance for your prayers and financial support.
