Date: 19/20 March 2016 Tell the world the good news Tell the World Lesson 5 of 5 How to Share the Good News II Series Overview The Tell the World the Good News series is all about the Good News and telling others about it. We want each child to first know and believe the gospel, receive God s heart of compassion for the lost, rise above potential challenges and pitfalls and then be equipped to share the good news themselves. The series will take us right up to Easter and let s believe that God will stir the GKidz children s hearts to rise up and make an eternal difference in their generation. Date Lesson Overview 20/21 Feb Lesson 1: The Good News is GREAT! Part 1 The children will understand the gospel message, and personally respond to God if they have not done so yet 27/28 Feb Lesson 2: The Good News is GREAT! Part 2 The children will further understand and appreciate the gospel. They will understand the need to repent and make Jesus their Lord. 5/6 Mar Lesson 3: The Good News Needs to be Shared The children will know their calling to share the gospel and receive God s heart of compassion for the lost. 12/13 Mar Lesson 4: How to Share the Good News I Testimony: Telling others about how God has been real to them, and also being a good testimony the salt and light of the world Inviting friends 19/20 Mar Lesson 5: How to Share the Good News II Sharing the gospel with others John 3:16 Praying for friends and for the world Testimony sharing practice Inviting friends follow up Series Memory Verse: Acts 1:8 (NIRV) But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you. PLATFORM TEACHING (20 mins) People needed: Platform teacher 1 and 2 (PT 1 and PT 2) Logistics: slides [GKidz to provide] [Name of PT 2], do you know know how many people there are on Earth? [scratching head] erm, I never counted them all and if I did it would take a really long time! Does anyone know how many people there are on Earth? [allow children to respond] [slide] The World Bank estimates that there were 7.1 billion people on Earth in 2013, and it s likely that the actual number of people is even higher now! And do you know, God knows and loves each one of these people, individually! That means He knows them name by name. Woah! I can t even remember the name of all my stuffed toys! God s memory must be amazing! But [name of PT 2] how do you know that God loves everyone? How do I know that? Well, there s a verse in the Bible that tells me that. [slide] The first part of John 3:16 says, God so loved the world God loves everyone in the world. That s a whole lot of love! God must have a very big heart. Super big! And because He loves them all, He wants all of them to hear the Good News so that they can be with Him forever! Do you remember from the past few weeks, who God wants to send to tell the Good News? Err Ps Khong? Not only him, who else? Er Ps Sor Kim / Ps Alex? Not just her Who else? Look closer! Copyright 2016 by GKidz, FCBC Page 2

Er my small group leader? Not just them Children, do you know who does God want to be the one to tell others the Good News? [allow children to respond] That s right, God wants to send YOU! Repeat after me God wants me to tell the Good News! Oh yah! Me! God wants to send me! How can I tell people the Good News? Last week, we talked about SHOW and SAY SHOW that we are the salt of the earth, and SAY our story! But another two ways is to PROCLAIM and PRAY. How do we proclaim the Good News? There are many ways! One way that we can master now as P1-3 children, is to share John 3:16 with our friends. Let s read this verse together! God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son. Anyone who believes in Him will not die but will have eternal life. This verse may be short but it tells us a lot! And it tells us the Good News in one short sentence! [PT 2 to team teach and model the actions and do them at the same time as the children] LOVED [action: hug yourself] - God loves the whole wide world A LOT, including you and me! He didn t just love the world but He SO loved the world! Can you say after me SOOOOOOOOOO loved! Okay, this time give yourself a big bear hug and say God SOOOOOOOOOO loves me! One more time grab your friend s shoulders and look them in the eyeball and say God SOOOOOOOOOO loves you GAVE [action: presenting something like a gift with two hands in front of you] What did God give to show us His love? God gave us His one and only Son to save us! BELIEVES [action: https://www.signingsavvy.com/sign/believe/991/1] We need to believe that Jesus died for our sins and rose again! This is our own response to God, we need to believe in Jesus ETERNAL LIFE [action: https://www.signingsavvy.com/sign/life/3795/1] - We can live with God forever if we believe in Jesus, that is God s promise! Can we try to memorize the verse and the meaning of the verse? [PT 1 to say the verse in sections with actions, allowing the children to repeat after you, Copyright 2016 by GKidz, FCBC Page 3

then link it all together without the verse being shown on screen] This is a summary of the Good News! And because He SOOOOOOOO loves the world, God wants the whole world to hear the Good News, not just the people who are in here in Singapore, but even the people who are staying in the furthest, most hard to reach places in the world! And can you guess who He wants to send out to the whole world? YOU! [looking alarmed] Me? [calms down and thinks] Hmm, if God wants to send me, then I better ask my mum for my passport. I like your enthusiasm [name of PT 2]! We all have a responsibility to tell the whole world the Good News, and the most important thing is for us to be obedient to go where God sends us to! For some of us, God will send us on a special mission to far away countries like Afghanistan, for some, He will send us to countries nearby like Timor Leste or Indonesia, and for others, He may tell us to stay here and tell people in Singapore the Good News. But, there s one thing ALL of us can do to help the Good News get to the people who have never ever had the chance to hear it though. I know! We can get a really powerful microphone that will BLAST all the way to Timbuktu in Africa and we shout, God SOOOOOOOOO loves you you you [giving PT 2 a weird look] no that's not what I was thinking of I know! We get all the Christians in Singapore to jump at exactly the right beat and we send a morse code message to Antartica [Jump a few times, alternating long and short pauses randomly] [Name of PT 2] You are really very creative, but what I mean is that we can all PRAY for the people in other countries. We can pray that God will open doors and make a way for the Good News to be preached there, for God to give the Christians there great boldness, for God to do signs and wonders through them, and for people to make Jesus their Lord and Saviour! And that s what we re going to do in a fun way during small group time. Copyright 2016 by GKidz, FCBC Page 4

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh Even though we may not be going to far away countries yet, we can pray for the missionaries and Christians who are there. Let s pray and then break into our small groups. [PT 1 to pray] SMALL GROUP CONNECT / ICEBREAKER THE HAHA GAME (5 mins) Get everyone to stand in a circle and not smile Choose one person to start. The first person will say HA Going in one round, the second person will say HA HA Each person will add one additional HA The objective is to not burst into laughs or giggles and not smile. Leader to say: Laughter is contagious! That means though everyone wasn t smiling, it was difficult not smile and burst out in laughter in the end. The Good News should be also spread in the same way and because it is GOOD news, it brings great joy and smiles to those who hear it. Transition: We are going to pray that Good News will bring great joy to the people in other countries, especially those who have not yet have the chance to hear it. While we may not be going to other countries right away, we can pray for the people there. SMALL GROUP APPLICATION ACTIVITY PRAYER FOR UNREACHED PEOPLE GROUPS (15 mins) Logistics: large printout of World Map (1 per group), little circle stickers (1 per child, incl one for leader), unreached people group cards (1 per child) (GKidz to provide) Leader to say: Here is a map of the world with all the countries listed. Everyone is going to receive a card with the name of an unreached people group somewhere in the world. An unreached people group means a group of people who are of the same race, or speak the same language, who have not been reached with the Good News yet, or who have very very few people among them who are Christians. RAPID RECALL First let s recap John 3:16 using the actions. [follow the actions taught and recap the verse from memory] We are going to use this verse to pray for these people groups that God loves! Copyright 2016 by GKidz, FCBC Page 5

When you receive your card, take a minute and read what is on the card. Close your eyes and pray for the people that the card talks about. How can you pray? [will be listed on the map] Proclaim John 3:16 over the people for example, for God so loved the Pakistanis, that He gave His Son to the Pakistanis that if anyone in Pakistan believes in Him will not die but have eternal life. What else can you pray? Pray for open doors and for God to make a way for the Good News to be preached there Pray for the Christians there to have great boldness and not to be afraid Pray for God to do signs and wonders among to people there so that they know God is real Pray for people to make Jesus their Lord and Saviour! [group the children in 2s or 3s, and appoint one leader. Distribute the cards and get them to pray point by point with the various people groups in mind] When the children are done, get them to come one by one to you with the other children seated, and the child to read out the name of their people group. Give them a sticker and guide them to paste the sticker where the country is located on the map. Leader to say: These stickers represent our one minute of prayer for these unreached people groups. Over this weekend, Timothy Club P1-3 children will offer up 300 minutes of prayer for 100 unreached people groups! That s equal to 5 hours of prayer in total! Can you turn to friend, give them a high 5 and say, Good job prayer warrior! Keep praying for this people group! You will get to keep this card as a reminder to keep praying for this people group, and you will notice that the other side also includes John 3:16! If you keep it in your wallet, you ll always be ready with the reminder of the Good News wherever you go. Transition: Besides telling them the Good News, we can also tell them our story. SMALL GROUP APPLICATION ACTIVITY STORY TO SAY, TESTIMONY TO TELL PART 2 (15 mins) Leader to say: remember that last week we talked about how everyone has a story to share that can point people to Jesus? Stories about Jesus, also called testimonies, are Copyright 2016 by GKidz, FCBC Page 6

powerful because they demonstrate that Jesus isn t just a storybook character from long ago, but He is real and He is alive and active in our lives today! Each story stirs up our faith in Jesus! [Leader, please share a short 2 minute story about how Jesus was real in your life this past week! This shows the children that we have a story to tell all the time, not just one testimony or only one story from a long time ago.] Reinforce ground rules for the sharing time. Each person s story is precious because they are sharing about what God has done in their lives. Ask the children to show honour and respect to their friends by giving them their attention Ask 2-3 children who brought their The Story worksheet to share one of their stories with the group. Prompt them and ask further questions to help the other children be engaged! Affirm the children for sharing. Leader to say: Wow I m really encouraged to hear all of your stories about how God revealed Himself to you, and how He has been real in your life. Do you feel encouraged too? I am so thankful that the God that we worship is one who is so real, and He knows all our needs and is our help! I pray that we will have the opportunity to share our story with our friends who do not know God, and that they will know Him! Transition: Besides telling our story, we can also help our friends to hear the Good News by inviting them to GKidz! And when we have a fun event like Easter is let s make the most of the opportunity and invite as many people as possible! SMALL GROUP APPLICATION ACTIVITY FOLLOW UP ON INVITATION AND PRAY! (15 mins) List down the names of all the friends who are coming. o Follow up and check that they have their friend s contact number - Remind the children to ask their friends for their parents phone number so that the two sets of parents can connect and coordinate. o Pray for this group of friends by proclaiming John 3:16 over them, like with the unreached people groups. List down the names of any friends are facing difficulty/parental objection o Help to solve problems if any that are stopping the friends from coming - Find out the reasons why o If there are any transport issues, and flag this to the TL/Pastor and speak to the parents during dismissal to find out more, so that we can find a solution. o Pray for them to be able to come, or for another time at GKidz Encourage the children in your group to write down the names of all the friends who are coming from the group and pray for them every day until the Easter service Copyright 2016 by GKidz, FCBC Page 7
