Carpenter Chaplain BOM Members The Ohio Society Sons of the American Revolution has been actively recruiting new members in the Adams, Brown, and Highland Counties of Southwest Ohio in hopes of organizing a new chapter. On March 26, 2016, the formation of this chapter took a huge leap forward when an organizational meeting was held in Hillsboro, Ohio in Highland County. The presence of 24 CCSAR members expressed the level of commitment to the creation of a new chapter East of Cincinnati to accommodate the many members expected to be recruited from that highland area of Ohio. Indeed, during the recruitment process, new members have been placed into the Cincinnati Chapter in anticipation of this new chapter. In addition, local DAR members like Charlene Tarr, former Regent of the Will-o- Way DAR Chapter, have been encouraging a new chapter in this location. Gregory D. Ballman Larry W. Collins Ian M. Cunningham Gary L. Duffield George H. Stewart, Jr. And All Living Past Presidents Once a new Chapter Application has been approved by the Ohio Society and the National SAR, more than a dozen current members of CCSAR will begin their transfer to the new chapter after a charter is issued by the state society. Information on the history, mission, and objectives of the SAR was presented at Saturday s meeting, as well as details on national, district, state, and chapter events and activities. An outline was provided on the various contests and scholarships for area youths, public servants, and outstanding citizens that are offered by the SAR. Cincinnati members of SAR anxiously await the opportunity to welcome an additional organization to serve the objectives of honoring those Patriots who gave us the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights, an independent Supreme Court and this nation of Free Men in which we live. Lebanon, Ohio Patriot Grave Marking Ceremony April 24, 2016 2PM The Cincinnati Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution (CCSAR) have identified19 Patriots of the American Revolutionary War who will be honored at the Grave Marking Event at 2:00 PM on April 24, 2016 in Lebanon, OH at Main & West Streets [Location: 104 S. West Street, Lebanon, Ohio 45036. (39.434336-84.214921)]. This is the site of the three Pioneer Cemeteries (Old Baptist, Methodist and Presbyterian) where these individuals, who contributed to the cause of the colonist s rebellion against the rule of English King George III, were buried. This event will be the third of its kind done by CCSAR, where a substantial number of Revolutionary War Patriots are honored for their services which enabled the Declaration of Independence, The Constitution, an independent Supreme Court and the United States of America; our nation of Freedom and Rights for all people. In 2014 we added 24 names on bronze plaques to others buried at Spring Grove Cemetery creating a Monument containing the names of 59 Patriots. Again in early 2015 on Patriot s Day we placed a memorial at Williamsburg Cemetery in Clermont County containing 18 patriots. In October 2015 a monument with 18 names of Patriots was dedicated at Wesleyan Cemetery in the North side community of Cincinnati. Now in 2016 on Patriot s Day we will honor 19 patriots, this time in Warren County s City of Lebanon with the assistance of the Warren County Genealogical Society. The ceremony this year includes a woman, Mary Craig Dunlevy, whose actions of healing and dressing the wounds of many Colonial Soldiers qualified her as an honoree. We are fortunate to have several descendants of our honorees who will be attending the Ceremony. From the family of Robert Hamilton, Linda Hamilton Sarver and her brother David Hamilton from South Carolina, express interest in attending the Dedication on the 24th of April. The ceremony will have the Pomp and Circumstance appropriate to the honor deserved by these patriots, with colors posted by members of the CCSAR in Revolutionary Uniforms and accompanied by a drummer. Greetings delivered from many dignitaries from patriotic groups and historical societies. Comments from descendants of some of the Patriots honored. Wreathes laid in reverence to these who gave so much to create these United States of America. And finally, a solemn presentation by bagpipes, a salute with flintlock rifles and a finale by taps bugled to complete the service.
