Value Lesson #1 God is Love Here is a true story. A long, long time ago, a boy named David helped his father take care of the sheep. As he walked across the hillsides, watching his sheep, he looked around at the beautiful world God created. What are some of the things you think he saw? As David looked at the wonderful world God made, he knew that God loved him very, very much. God loves you too. The Bible tells us that God is love. We know He loves us because: He created a big, wonderful world for us He sent Jesus to be our Savior God is love (1 John 4:8). Name some people who God loves. 1
Value Lesson #2 Lord, Your Words are Very Great Do you know what the Bible is? The Bible is God s special book. In the Bible, God tells us everything He wants us to know. We are to listen to God s words, and then we are to do them. In His Word, God tells us what is right and wrong. God tells us that it is wrong to steal, to lie and to disobey our parents. God tells us it is right to memorize verses, to obey our parents and to be kind to one another. The Bible is the inspired word of God. All scripture is God-breathed (2 Timothy 3:16) Can you name some other things the Bible tells us to do? 2
Value Lesson #3 All Your Words are True Do you know what a promise is? When you say you will do something that is a promise. Promises are very important. When you make a promise, you must keep it. Sometimes it is very hard for people to keep promises. Your friend promises to play with you after school, But then his mom needs him to go to the grocery store and he must go with her. He can t keep his promise. But the Lord is different. Only He can keep all His promises all the time. Everything god says is true. This is how we know we can trust him. God s Word has always been true. God s Word is true now. God s word always will be true. A long, long time ago, many people did not obey God. Only Noah and his family wanted to obey God. So God told Noah to build a big boat called an ark. Noah worked on the boat for many, many years. When the ark was finished, it was big enough for Noah s family and 2 of each kind of animal. God wanted Noah to take animals on the ark with them. God closed the door. He promised to keep Noah s family and the animals safe. Then it started to rain. This wasn t a little storm, but a great big storm that lasted 40 days and nights. Soon the water covered all the land, trees and mountains. But Noah and his family were safe inside the ark, just as God had promised. When the water had dried up, God let Noah and his family and the animals out of the ark. And the Lord God promised that He would never cover all the land, tress and mountains with rain again. Then the Lord did something very special. He placed a rainbow in the sky as His sign to remind us of the promise He made. Every time we see a rainbow, we can remember the promise God made to Noah. All Your words are true (Psalm 119:160) 3
Value Lesson #4 Trust God What does is mean to trust someone? Trust means that you know that person will do exactly what he or she promised to do. We can always trust God. God s people were living in the country of Egypt. Mean King Pharaoh made the Israelites work very hard. God told Moses to take His people out of Egypt. That made King Pharaoh angry. He did not want them to leave. The people followed Moses, but when they reached the Red Seas, they were trapped. Pharaoh s army was behind them. The Red Sea was in front of them. But remember, God was helping Moses lead His people. They could trust God. He always does exactly what He promises to do. God knew exactly how to get the Israelite people across the Red Sea. Trust in the Lord (Proverbs 3:5) You can trust God too. We know He will do exactly what He says He will do. 4
Value Lesson #5 God Loves Children A long time ago, when the Lord Jesus was on earth, He went to the towns and villages teaching people. One day a group of children came to see Him. I think the children were excited, don t you? But sadly, when the disciples saw the children, they told them to say away because the Lord Jesus had more IMPORTANT things to do than talk to children. But the Lord Jesus said Let the children come to Me. The Lord Jesus know that children are just as IMPORTANT as big people. He loves children very much. He loves you. He died on the cross to save you from the punishment for your sins. Right now He is in heaven making a place for you to live someday. Jesus wants all people to come to Him and trust Hum as their Savior Let the little children come to Me (Mark 10:14) 5
Value Lesson #6 Love One Another While He lived on earth, Jesus was a friend to many people. From the Bible, we learn about a friend named Matthew. Many people were mean to Matthew, but Jesus was kind. Matthew had never heard anyone talk about love like Jesus did. Matthew wanted his friends to hear about Jesus love. So Matthew invited his friends to dinner. What are some things that you do at your house when someone is coming to dinner? Jesus shows us how to be a good field. In the Bible, He tell us We ought to love on another (I John 4:11) 6
Value Lesson #7 Sin Do you know what sin is? Sin is when we do bad things. When we do things we know are wrong. When we don t do things we are told to do. When he hit our friend or tell a lie; that is a sin. When we don t clean our room after our mom s told us to, that is a sin. Sin separates us from God. God wants to be our friend because he loves us so much, but because he is Holy, we cannot be friends with him while there is sin in our lives. But God says, all we have to do is admit our sin to him and ask him to forgive us and he will. We can then be friends with God again. Confessing our sins to God is like saying sorry. When we do bad things, we should say sorry to those people we hurt. When we sin, it hurts God, so we must tell him we are sorry and ask for forgiveness. The bible says, If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive them. (I John 1:9) 7
Value Lesson #8 Jesus Came to Save Sinners The Lord Jesus tells us about a shepherd that had many, many sheep. One day, as he was counting them, he discovered that one of the sheep was missing. What do you think the shepherd did? Do you think he just forgot about the sheep? Yes, the shepherd cares about all his sheep. He looked everywhere until he found the one that was lost. The shepherd cares about the sheep. Each one is special. In the day he finds food fro the sheep and at night he keeps them safe in the dark. The sheep know they do not have to be afraid. Just like the shepherd loved each one of his sheep, so the Lord Jesus care about each person. He cares about us so much that He came to save us from our sin. That is why the Bible says: Jesus came in to the world to save sinners. (I Timothy 1:15) 8
Value Lesson #9 God Loved Us and Sent His Son We have learned that the Bible is God s special book. In the Bible, God shows us what He is like. The Bible gives us instructions that show us how to obey the Lord: The Bible tells me God s promises are true because He is faithful The Bible teaches me to trust God because He is trustworthy The Bible teaches me that I should lean about God because He is great and mighty The Bible teaches me to pray because He loves and cares for us. The Lord knows that all people have sinned. He knows that people cannot do anything abut their sin that would make a way for them to be saved. Only God can do this. Long, long time sago, God promised the people that He would send a Savior. The savior was to be His only Son, The Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus, the Savior, would make the way for people to be saved. This is what the Bible says... God love us and sent His Son (I John 4:10) On the cross, Jesus took your sin. He took mine too. He did this for all people because He loves us. Three days later, the Lord Jesus Christ rose from the dead. He lives today in heaven. We need to trust Him as our Savior. He is great and mighty! This is why we love and praise him. 9
