DEVELOPMENT & PEACE SHARE LENT CAMPAIGN The beginning of Lent is also the start of the Development and Peace Share Lent campaign. This is the once-a-year fundraiser for our Catholic development and aid organization which works in 33 countries with over 200 programs. Most of the projects are quite small and are defined by the needs of the local communities. D. & P. is part of Caritas International which is on the ground when emergencies arise - as was in the case of the Indonesian tsunami and Haitian earthquake. The gospels teach us that we are all part of the same God-created family. We are to look after one another - whether across the street or across the ocean. We are called to share our bounty with those who have less, who are oppressed and struggling for justice. This is our chance to do just that. Last week the D. & P. Solidarity Calendar was distributed with the bulletin. Please read it as you begin to plan your Share Lent donation. This week you will find the Share Lent magazine which gives an overview of the partners and projects funded by Development and Peace. Over the next four weeks, a specific D&P partner will be profiled as a bulletin insert. For more information you can go to the D. & P. website, www.devp.org Bulletin Inserts: If you think self-denial was tough 2,000 years ago, try Lent today! Annual Lenten Men s Half Day Retreat hosted by Knights of Columbus Be sure to check out the bulletin board in the foyer (near the washrooms) for postings of a variety of events in our parish and throughout the diocese.
