Celebrating Holi in the holy city of Varanasi is something that should make you throw caution to the wind and book your tickets! Menacing, threatening, ruthless are words that one often hears about Varanasi but brave travellers might love the carefree vibe and the zealous celebrations in the city of Shiva. It s basically Hindu spring Festival also known as the Festival of Colors. The festival signifies the victory of good over evil. Where people smear each other with colors and drench each other. It s a sign of forgiveness and happiness. 2

DAY 1: DEPART CANADA Depart from Canada Full Itinerary DAY 2: ARRIVAL DELHI (D) Arrive to Delhi AC042 at 20:40 Upon arrival, Welcome by our representative along with your tour guide and transfer to your hotel and a warm welcome at the airport with Garlands. Welcome with Non-alcoholic welcome drink at hotel. In its 3000 years of existence; seven cities have risen where the present capital of India stands. Here you'll encounter a fascinating blend of the ancient and the contemporary. Where government buildings, medieval palaces and bazaars exist beside a modern metropolis. Delhi is a city waiting to be explored. Overnight at Hotel DAY 3: DELHI (B,L,D) After breakfast, enjoy the sightseeing of Delhi. Drive past Red Fort the 17th century imposing fortress built in red sandstone is surrounded by a huge 33m high boundary wall. Inside are exquisite palaces and beautiful gardens. Opposite the Red Fort lies Jama Masjid (Friday Mosque) made of red sandstone and white marble, completed in 1656 at a cost of one million Rupees has perfect proportions. Jama Masjid is India's largest mosque where more than 20.000 people can kneel in prayer. The interior of the prayer hall is divided into aisles by arches. The walls and floors are of marble inlay panels. Also, enjoy the Rickshaw Ride in the bazaars of Old Delhi. Visit the Raj Ghat on the banks of the river Yamuna, Mahatma Gandhi's Memorial, where he was cremated following his assassination in January 1948. The memorial lies in the midst of landscaped gardens and made of a simple square platform of black marble inscribed with his last words "Hey Ram". An eternal flame burns 24 hours. You will drive Past Rashtrapati Bhawan once the Viceroy's residence is now the official residence of the President of India. Photo stop at India Gate Built of Bharatpur stone, commemorates the 70,000 Indian soldiers who died in the 1st world war. 13516 names of British and Indian soldiers killed in the Afghan War of 1919 are engraved on the arch and foundations. Visit the Humayun's Tomb, built by his wife Haji Begum in the 16th. Century. An early example of Mughal architecture considered the predecessor of the Taj Mahal. Visit the Qutub Minar, built by Qutub-ud-din Aibek in 1199 and it is one of the tallest minarets in India (73 meters height). It is made from red sandstone & marbles. Overnight at the hotel. 3

DAY 4: DELHI / AGRA (B,L,D) Breakfast at Hotel. Agra a city having reflections of Mughal Dynasty. Agra is renowned for the Taj Mahal, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. This exquisite mausoleum stands eloquent witness to Emperor Shah Jahan s immortal love to his wife Mumtaz Mahal. Agra also has other historic monument of great beauty, the mausoleum of Itmad-ud-Daulah s; the massive Agra. Fort and nearby Fatehpur Sikri, the abandoned city of red stone Upon arrival in Agra, transfer to Hotel. Afternoon visit Sikadndra Fort. The Tomb of Akbar the Great is an important Mughal architectural masterpiece, built 1605 1613, set in 48 Ha (119 acres) of grounds in Sikandra, a suburb of Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India. Overnight at the Hotel. DAY 5: AGRA (B,L,D) Early Morning visit Taj Mahal by Sun Rise, the most famous monument of India, classified by UNESCO in 1983. This graceful and moving mausoleum was built by Emperor Shah Jahan, "King of the World" in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal, who died in 1631 at the birth of their 14th child. Begun in 1631, the Taj Mahal was not completed until 1653. The best workers were recruited from all over India and Central Asia, the Bordeaux artist, Venice participated in its decoration. After visit Taj Mahal Back to Hotel and Breakfast at Hotel. Visit Agra Fort (1565-1573). This huge red sandstone fortress was begun by Emperor Akbar. Standing majestically on the banks of the Yamuna, it presents itself as a scholarly combination of power and elegance. This is where Shah Jahan ended his days, sadly contemplating his marble dream. On the other bank of the river further north stands the delicate mausoleum of Itimad-ud-Daulah, all marble with inlays of semiprecious stones, which prefigures the style of the Taj, begun four years later. Visit Itimad-Ud-Daulah (also called "BABY TAJ"), was built on the initiative of Nur Jahan, wife of Jahangir for her father Mirza Ghiyas Beg, who had taken the title of Itimad-ud-Daula - pillar of the state - where his son had abandoned him effective power over the empire. Mirza Ghiyas Beg is also the Mumtaz Mahal grandfather, the wife of Emperor Shah Jahan, both buried in the Taj Mahal. DAY 6: AGRA / FATEHPUR SIKRI /BHARATPUR/ RANTHAMBHORE (B,L,D) Breakfast at Hotel. Route towards Ranthambhore and en route visit Fatehpur Sikri and visit the magnificent fortified ghost town. Capital of the Mughal empire at the time of its splendour between 1571 and 1585, the city was quickly abandoned and remained "as is", without being looted or destroyed. It is a very interesting testimony, both historically and architecturally, a brilliant Mughal city. You will admire including the Great Mosque with the tomb of Salim Chishti Skeikh the magnificent marble lattice, home of Jewels also called Diwan-I-Khas (audience hall) with the pillar of Akbar and the giant chessboard of the court the Pachhis. En-route lunch at a restaurant in Bharatpur before taking a train experience to Sawai Madhopur. Evening enjoy Jeep Safari into Ranthambhore National Park. Overnight at the Hotel. DAY 7: RANTHAMBHORE (B,L,D) Early morning Jeep Safari into Ranthambhore National Park. Ranthambhore is fortieth largest national parks in northern India, covering 392 km. Ranthambhore was established as the Sawai Madhopur Game Sanctuary in 1955 by the Government of India and was declared one of the Project Tiger reserves in 1973. Ranthambhore became a national park in 1980. Breakfast at hotel. After Breakfast free for own activities. Afternoon Jeep Safari into Ranthambhore National Park. Overnight at the Hotel. 5

DAY 8: RANTHAMBHORE / JAIPUR (B,L,D) Breakfast at hotel. Upon arrival in Jaipur, transfer to hotel. Afternoon visit Albert Hall. The building was designed by Sir Samuel Swinton Jacob, assisted by Mir Tujumool Hoosein, and was opened as public museum in 1887. Maharaja Ram Singh initially wanted this building to be a town hall, but his successor, Madho Singh II, decided it should be a museum for the art of Jaipur and included as part of the new Ram Nivas Garden. Visit Laxmi Narayan Temple. Overnight at the Hotel. DAY 9: JAIPUR (B,L,D) Breakfast at hotel. Morning, visit Amber Fort with a ride on Elephant back The Amber Fort was built in 1592 by Raja Man Singh, is one of the finest examples of Rajput architecture. It gives extensive views over a deep narrow valley and the wider plains beyond. Afternoon, visit City Palace. The beautiful palace was built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh during his reign. Among the various forts and palaces of Jaipur, City Palace stands apart, with its outstanding art and architecture. City Palace complex covers a huge area, which is divided into a series of gardens, courtyards and buildings. The premises consists several buildings like Chandra Mahal, Mubarak Mahal, Mukut Mahal, Maharani's Palace, Shri Govind Dev Temple and the City Palace Museum. 6

Visit Jantar Mantar(1728-34) by king astrologer Jai Singh II. The instruments are built of stone with marble facing on the important plains for measuring the harmony of the heavens.each instrument serves a particular function and each gives an accurate reading. Make a photo stop at the palace of winds the Hawa Mahal. A 5 storied building with 25cm thick facade from the 18 century having 953 windows and niches so that ladies of royal family could see the procession and events in the city without being visible to the people. Also, enjoy the Rickshaw Ride - This ride is planned to offer you an insight on the socio economic aspects of the city. Every lane in the walled city has something interesting to offer and the relaxed Rickshaw ride is the best way to explore the city like the locals do. Overnight at Hotel DAY 10: JAIPUR / VARANASI (Flight SG2985 at 0625-0815hrs) (B,L,D) Very Early morning transfer to the airport to connect flight for Varanasi. Upon arrival and transfer to the Hotel followed by breakfast at your hotel before check in. (NOTE: Check in time is noon) Afternoon at leisure for own activities at your hotel..varanasi, also commonly known as Benaras, is the oldest living city in the world. It is situated on the banks of holy river Ganges. The culture of Varanasi is closely associated with the river Ganges and the river's religious importance. People often refer to Varanasi as "the city of temples," "the holy city of India," "the religious capital of India," "the city of lights," "the city of learning" and the "culture capital of India". American writer Mark Twain wrote, "Benares is older than history, older than tradition, older even than legend, and looks twice as old as all of them put together." DAY 11: VARANASI (B,L,D) On the banks of the Ganges, VARANASI is the Holy City of INDIA where the HINDUS come to seek spiritual deliverance. The pilgrims flock to the ghat that leads to the river. The great attraction of Varanasi is the long string of ghats which border the western shore of Ganges. The ghats are those steps which descend towards the river and where the dead are incinerated Early morning, boat ride on River Ganges where you can see the sun rising women bathing discreetly in their saris, the young men submitting their bodies to the contortions of the yoga exercises, the Brahman priests offering their blessing. Return to Hotel for Breakfast Morning excursion to Sarnath considered one of the high places of Buddhism. It was there that the Buddha set in motion "The Wheel of the Law", his first sermon. On the site there are still vestiges of the buildings erected by emperor Ashoka himself, with the main temple of the 6th century, the Ashoka column, the Dhamek Stupa. Continuation by visiting the museum, which contains one of the pillars that Emperor Ashok had built in the 3rd century. Later Sightseeing tour of Vârânasî - On the banks of the Ganges, VARANASI is the Holy City of INDIA. The Hindu come to seek spiritual deliverance. Pilgrims flock to the "ghats", stairs leading to the river, visit old Varanasi is done on foot passing by narrow lanes in the old city. Also Visit the temple of Durga, commonly called the Temple of the Apes because of the number of these animals that inhabit the enclosure and is tinged with red ocher. VISIT BENARAS HINDU UNIVERSITY which is unique by its spiritual center of meditation and famous by its faculties of science. Visit Kashi Vishwanath Temple, One of the most famous Hindu Temples and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Also visit Bharat Mata Temple (mother India), inaugurated by Mahatma Gandhi. Overnight at the Hotel DAY 12: VARANASI (B,L,D) Breakfast at hotel. Holi: during this day, known as Rangapanchami, people, dressed in white, circulate with pigments of colours that they throw themselves to each other, it is then customary to apologize after having sacrificed to the coloured rite, by "Bura na mano, Holi hai" ("Do not be angry, it's the Holi" in Hindi). It is also an opportunity to invite yourself to share dishes specially prepared for this occasion. The pigments that they throw themselves have a very precise meaning: green for harmony, orange for optimism, blue for vitality and red for joy and love. 8

According to the Indianist writer Alain Daniélou, the feast of Holi is "the day when all castes mingle, where the inferiors have the right to insult all those to whom they had to bow all year" After few hours, return to the hotel for refreshing and have dinner.
