Welcome and Announcements Children's Message (children may leave for the Nursery) *Opening Hymn: Seek Ye First #333 Presbyterian Hymnal Call to Confession Rev. Evan Amo OUTDOOR WORSHIP A great tradition here at LPC is the celebration of Spring with Outdoor Worship under the large oak tree. Following the service, we will have a covered dish lunch in the fellowship hall and you are asked to bring food to share for this lunch. This will be celebrated next Sunday, May 20. This is a great time to invite a friend to join you at church. NEW BEGINNINGS The New Beginnings Sunday School Class will be beginning a new study beginning today using the book If it could happen here Turning the small membership church around by Jeffrey H. Patton. This is a short book about how a Methodist congregation in rural Pennsylvania went from being a quiet 50 participant church into a thriving, spirit-filled ministry. Perhaps we can glean some information for our transformation. All are welcome to participate in this study, Sunday mornings at 10:00am. WELCOME NEW GENERAL PRESBYTER REV. DR. JANICE EDMISTON Rev. Dr. Jan Edmiston has now officially begun as our new General Presbyter. Jan's call was approved at our February Presbytery meeting and she began her service on May 1st. She is also serving as the current Co-Moderator of the 222nd General Assembly of the PC(USA). We are so proud to have her join the Presbytery of Charlotte family and look we forward to working and serving with her for many years to come. Jan's Email address is jan.edmiston@presbyofcharlotte.com Presbytery Office direct line: 980-207-5212 CHURCH DIRECTORY APP If you use the church directory app you will notice a new improvement. The ios App that includes Groups and Birthdays just like the Android App has been released! Members should see the update in the App Store or their devices will automatically update if that feature is turned on within the next 7 days. As a reminder, this did require us to log all members out when they update their app to ensure they don't get into a bad state. They can log back in using their email address and the password they created. Or use the FORGOT password option to create another one. You can see Amy Bates if you have problems. Silent Prayer of Confession

*Affirmation of Faith: Apostle's Creed I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and life everlasting. PASTOR EVAN AMO The church office phone number is 704.888.4339. During other times Evan can be reached at 714.397.4832. MUSIC NOTES Do you experience Jesus in every breath of air you take in? The anthem today begins with This is the air I breathe. Sometimes we loose our focus or forget about God s presence in our lives. Just remember that with every breath you take you are receiving a gift from God. During the offering, the choir will share a fun, fast-paced song, People Like Us. This is not Kelly Clarkson s song, but a nice gospel song that reminds us that all God s people need prayer! We pray that the music today adds an extra blessing to your faith journey. FLOWERS The flowers today are given to the Glory of God and in honor of Margaret Stewart by her LPC family. Please join us in celebrating her 95 th birthday!! MOTHERS DAY LUNCH A long - time tradition here at LPC is Mother s Day lunch prepared by the Men of the Church. Everyone is invited to stay for lunch today. We will also be celebrating the birthday of Margaret Stewart!!! NURSERY Following the Children s message, the children (birth-k) may go to the Nursery. Questions or if you would like to volunteer please see Joan Hall or Diane Haggerty. BIBLE STUDY The Bible Study will resume on Monday at 7pm with Evan. Corporate Prayer of Confession: Almighty God, you have raised Jesus from death to life, and crowned him Lord of all. We confess that we have not bowed before him, or acknowledged his rule in our lives. We have gone along with the ways of the world, and failed to give him glory. Forgive us, and raise us from sin, that we may be your faithful people, obeying the commands of our Lord Jesus Christ, who rules the world and is head of the church, his body. Amen.
