Or, if you d like more information, visit our website at ubc.org, or call the church office at 281.488.8517 and we will be happy to assist you. Steve Laufer, SENIOR PASTOR how to connect One of the most important things we do here at UBC is to involve people in ministry. We offer you a variety of ways to keep up with what s happening here: 1 join a small group; 2 visit the UBC web site; 3 sign up for e-news (our enewsletter); 4 download the UBC Houston mobile app; 5 read your worship guide. current worship series Detours No Turning Back (Exod. 9:13 10:29) The final series of plagues moves the arena to that of natural disasters: hail, locusts and darkness. It also introduces a couple of new elements in the dialogue. First, we begin to see some of the Egyptian courtiers recognizing the power of the Lord and suggesting that Pharaoh let the people go. Second, Pharaoh begins bartering with Moses for a partial release. Despite all the examples of God s power, Pharaoh still insists on maintaining a level of control. Complete submission to the will of the Lord is simply not in the cards for him. When the ninth plague has ended, God s education of all parties has come to an end, as have the opportunities to relent and surrender to him. All that is left is judgment. The same pattern can be seen in our world today. Events of all sorts have the potential to turn people toward God. But at some point, those opportunities cease and judgment falls.
