GREAT EXPECTATIONS? WHAT SHOULD WE EXPECT FROM A JESUS APPROACH MINISTRY?

GREAT EXPECTATIONS?! WHAT SHOULD WE EXPECT FROM A JESUS APPROACH MINISTRY? WE SHOULD EXPECT THE SAME EXACT RESULTS THAT JESUS HAD!

GREAT EXPECTATIONS I. EXPECT TO BE MISUNDERSTOOD. (4:22a, 28) And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things were filled with wrath.

Colossians 4 5 Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time. 6 Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.

Romans 8 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

GREAT EXPECTATIONS II. EXPECT TO BE MISIDENTIFIED. (4:22b) And they said, Is not this Joseph s son? *They will identify us to the wrong source.

GREAT EXPECTATIONS III. EXPECT TO BE MISTREATED. (4:23-24,29) And he said unto them, Ye will surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we heave heard done in Capernaum, do also here in they country. And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country And [they all] rose up, and thrust him out of this city, and led him unto the brow of this hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong. *They will justify persecuting us because of their misinterpretation of us.

GREAT EXPECTATIONS?! IF THAT S WHAT WE SHOULD EXPECT, WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD WE DO IT? WE DO IT FOR THE SAME EXACT REASONS THAT JESUS DID IT!

GREAT EXPECTATIONS II. WE DO SO WE CAN FULFILL THE SCRIPTURE! (4:21) And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears. *Our motive must not be self glory or corporate growth, but simply to fulfill God s revealed will!

James 2 15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, 16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? 17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

I John 3 17 But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? 18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.
