For awarding prizes for the Recitation competitions, the following groups will be formed: Group I : Pre-KG Group II : LKG Group III : UKG Group IV : Std. 1 & II Group V : Std. III & IV Group VI : Std. V & VI Group VII : Std. VII & VIII Group VIII : Std. IX & X Group IX : Std. XI & XII 3. Three prizes will be awarded for each group. 4. Prizes will be awarded for boys and girls together. 5. Depending upon the number of candidates, the judges may regroup the standards at their discretion. 6. The decisions of judges in awarding prizes are final. 7. The students participating in the Bhagavad Gita Recitation competitions from Std. I to Std. V will be judged together only for the purpose of awarding prizes. 8. Depending upon the number of students participating, the Recitation competition will be held in two rounds, namely Semi-finals and finals. 9. Participants for Bhagavad Gita competition should recite the slokas in the same manner and pronunciation as available in this website. Audio CD s have been issued to all the participants last year. Copies of the same is available with the organizers Cost per CD Rs.50/-. Prizes will be given only to students following these instructions. II QUIZ ON Sri Valmiki Ramayanam - Seniors - Std. IX to Std. XII Topic - BALA KHAANDA NOTE 1. Each school can send a maximum of only two teams, each team consisting of two students. 2. Teams are divided into two or more groups depending on the number of entries. SEMI - FINAL 3. Five rounds of questions with one question per round for each team. Time to answer each question will be 30 seconds. 4. Each question carries 10 marks. 5. If the team fails to answer the question during its turn, the question passes on to the next team and so on and the team that answers the question gets five marks. FINAL 6. Teams winning I, II & III places in the semifinal will participate in the finals. 7. Other rules are the same as for semi-finals. 8. The decisions of the Quiz Master are final.

XII Topic 1 Verse 4: O Krishna, How can I counter attack with arrows in battle, Bhishma & Drona who are worthy of respect Topic 2 Verse 13: Various stages in the development of a man from a child in the womb to death - Man, Tree and unchanging soul inside NOTE: The organizers will provide the drawing papers only. a. The students can chose any method of drawing and colouring namely colour pencils, crayons, water colours etc. b. First, Second and Third prizes will be given for each of the categories separately. c. Winners of the competition will be announced and the prizes will be distributed on the same day. d. Decisions of the judges are final. e. Students can register their names directly if their schools do not forward their application. IV ORATORICAL COMPETITION Std. VI to Std. X - Bhagavad Gita 2 ND Chapter Samkhya yoga (Sloka Meaning with Purport) The Bhagavad Gita, chanted by His Holiness Sri Tridandi Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji can be downloaded from the website, www.jetchennai.org. Swamiji s lucid explanation giving the meaning for each sloka and the purport is available in books printed by our organization. The cost of each book is Rs. 10/- The students should give the meaning of each sloka and purport as taught by Sri Swamiji. Prizes will be given only to students following these instructions.
Std. IX to Std. XII - Subject: Bala Khaanda in Valmiki Ramayanam Topics: 1. Gangavatharaanam Trials and Trevails of Bhageeratha 2. Gurusishya Sambhandam Sage Viswamithra and Sri Rama Note: Each student should speak only in English Time 5 minutes. V... BHAJANS COMPETITIONS Date: Sunday 28 th August, 2011, Time: 9-00 a.m. Venue: PRC Centenary Hall, Lodhi Khan Street, (behind Holy Angels School) T. Nagar, Chennai -17. Topics: At-least one song followed by Naamavali on Sri Rama, Sri Krishna, Sri Venkateswara & Sri Lakshmi Narasimha 1. Bhajans should be only on the above-mentioned topics. 2. Each school can send only one team consisting of a minimum of 6 students and a maximum of 10 students. 3. Each team can sing for a maximum period of 15 minutes. 4. At least one song should be followed by Naamavali. 5. The winning team will get a group prize. 6. Depending on the number of schools participating, the competition will be held in two rounds Semi Finals and Finals. First, second and third prizes will be awarded for the groups. 7. The students should bring their own musical instruments. As we cannot guarantee power supply, the musical instruments should be battery operated. 8. The participating students should not wear their school uniforms. Teams with school uniforms will not be allowed to participate. This is to facilitate impartial judgement of the participating teams. 9. The schools may register their team with names of the students. Last date for filing of applications is 20 th July, 2011. 10.
